There are so many markets and great Thai restaurants in Nakhon Si Thammarat, and so much unique food there, it’s a true paradise for foodies!
    In the video we’ll show you the first 2 nights of a family holiday in Nakhon Si Thammarat, we’ll eat at some markets and a great Thai restaurant in the city. In the next videos we visit some of the attractions, beaches, markets, restaurants, and eat lots more Thai food!

    Nakhon Si Thammarat นครศรีธรรมราช is both a province and a city in Southern Thailand. It’s well off the tourist trail and is a destination that not a lot of people visit, but it’s a great city where you can get a taste of real Thai culture and very authentic Thai food. It has some unique Thai foods and amazing attractions that you can visit. And there is loads to do in the surrounding areas too - beaches, islands, national parks and waterfalls - it’s a beautiful part of Thailand!
    Thai cuisine and street food in Thailand has taken influences from many other styles of Asian cooking, including Chinese food. You’ll find Thai street food on many street corners in Thailand, as well as at every market, be it in Nakhon Si Thammarat , Krabi, Phuket, Bangkok or Pattaya. Thai food markets are one of the best places to buy fresh and authentic Thai food while you travel in Thailand. There are loads of Thai food markets and night market all over Thailand, you’re never far from one. At the markets you'll find so many Thai dishes on offer and the foods here are cheap, and so tasty! And in case you’re worried, eating Thai street food is perfectly safe. It’s what the locals eat and it is cooked fresh and sold quickly. I’ve been eating it nearly daily in Thailand since 2012 and my friends who have been to visit and tour Thailand have all eaten it, and none of us have had any problems. Thai street food is some of the best Thai cuisine you’ll find in Thailand!

    Hi Folks,
    Hope you are all doing well! I’ve been very busy this week, so this week’s video is a re-upload from a video we did some time back that had copyright issues, back when the world was normal, pre-Covid. The video features a real foodie paradise - Nakhon Si Thammarat - somewhere which is well off the tourist track, but a place that is well worth visiting, with great food, markets, restaurants, beaches and nature. The video has been re-edited and updated, we have been back to all these places since we filmed this and all the information and prices are still current. Hope you enjoy the video and hope you all have an awesome weekend, we will see you all soon :)

    Hi Darren keep, up the great work l.. Very keen to know why Thai people add so much chilli in to their food

    • @darrenb3
      @darrenb3  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks. Many of my Thai friends do not eat spicy food, but this page has a number of theories on why many Thais do -
      Not only does chili add tons of flavors to dishes, but it’s also beneficial for gut health given it can reduce intestinal parasites and bacteria if consumed in large quantities. Since Thailand is considered a tropic region, its people adopted spicier foods to help them feel better (this is why you’ll find spicier food in regions located near the equator). Spices like chilies also help food stay fresher for longer periods of time. Foods in tropic regions tend to go bad faster since it’s so hot and humid, so adding chili to it helped prolong its shelf life.
      Spicy foods also have other health benefits, such as increasing blood circulation and helping regulate the body’s core temperature. When you eat spicy food, the blood from the core of your body circulates to the skin’s surface and dilates the skin’s capillaries to help expel the heat so that you sweat. This is important in tropical regions to stay cool.

    Ahh pre-covid. I was going to ask how things are now. The recent Thai covid map shows low risk in the southern areas, including I think much of the Krabi area. And I read that they may relax travel restrictions at the end of February. So... where is a good safe but lovely part of Thailand to visit in March!?

    • @darrenb3
      @darrenb3  4 роки тому

      Yes, the south of Thailand is very low risk and Krabi has had no Covid cases since December 25, 2020. Krabi is a great place to visit in March.

    I have never been to Thailand and I don't speak their language unfortunately. Would you say it is a safe place to travel as a solo woman tourist? I would love to...

    • @darrenb3
      @darrenb3  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, in general Thailand is very safe and I know a number of women who have traveled here solo and had great holidays. That being said, sadly everywhere in the world nobody is completely safe and you should always be mindful of what you do, for example not walking on deserted beaches or in dark lanes at night, because opportunistic crimes can happen anywhere.
      Be mindful of what you do and avoid activities that can put yourself in danger, and I'm sure you would have a brilliant time here :)

    Darren, I noticed the vendors are usually dressed up. Long pants, shirts. Women selling wearing skirts some wearing the Hadjib. Everything seems to be fried or over hot coals. QUESTION. Isn't if really hot and humid there. It mist be really uncomfortable environment to work in. But everyone seems happy... Are they just all use to the heat???

    • @darrenb3
