Lars, above everything, he is the rock n roll/heavy metal historian. I just love listening to him about all their experiences and metal history in general. Like in Anvil's doc or in Get Thrashed doc. I loved listening to him since the 2 for One VHS.
My favorite Matt O'Brien take down is a scraps where they're mocking Meghan for marrying him and Conan says: "who would marry someone like Matt O'Brien?" And Andy replies: "someone who's running from something" 😂😂😂😂

Most people who hate Lars are made about all the Napster BS probably. Just people mad about not being able to steal from the band is my understanding.
To Matt's points about "looking the same" and Lars' point about corporate names: Lakewood has since had three different corporate names (first HiFi Buys, then Aarron's, now Cellaris) and has a competitor in the north metro (Ameris Bank (formerly Verizon) Amphitheatre), the layout of which is almost to a square foot identical.
Most people in my town still call all of the venues by their old names. We have a coliseum and a concert venue that share a name. Instead of making a creative choice, said corporate sponsor just hires some poor min wage worker to stand outside in crazy temps to redirect confused patrons to the right one. Late stage capitalism is sucking the variety and joy out of so many pleasures.
My favorite is when a business buys naming rights but ends up going out of business or being purchased by another business before the naming rights contract expires, so you end up with venues named after businesses that no longer exist.
I would definitely go to Astroglide Arena. Sounds like a slick place.

There’s some video I saw somewhere of fans seeing him, and someone getting a tour shirt signed. He’s looking at the back at the dates, places played and losing his mind because there were three places missing on the shirt, peeved that someone in merch missed that detail. ‘We played 38 shows, not 35, WTF?!?’

Great thing about his band is that they play music live because they love it. They're so rich that they can already retire a long time ago but no, they continue to play.

My first Metallica show took place August 7 1994 in Baytown, TX at The Houston Raceway Park. The opening bands where 'Fight', 'Suicidal Tendencies', and then there was 'Candlebox'.... which was the band that replaced 'Alice In Chains'. Its always been a mystery why AIC was replaced.
P.S. Candlebox really tore it up with a great show to fill those shows.

Lars hits a very interesting point, all these corporate stadiums are very forgettable. I remember one "solo star band artist" maybe Jon Bon Jovi or Ozzy Osbourne mentioned in Swedish media that they didn't understand the renaming of the formerly known "Stockholm Globe Arena" into then Ericsson followd by Avicii Globe Arena as it killed the spirit.
To this day, I couldn't tell you what Candlestick Park is currently called without looking it up. EDIT: Looks like it was "disassembled" in 2015, after being named to..."3Com Park" - I had to look that up as well, since 3Com was disassembled, too

i think from a business standpoint, if one is trying to have podcasts be a meaningful entity in and of themselves, they cannot be continually overshadowed and eclipsed by a sameness in another format. nobody would want to stream them if the entire thing was always on vid. how does that not make sense to you?

Dont try to outshine your guest, or hijack his/her funny story by spinning it around and making a spin-off story to have an extra laugh. You break up the flow and pace of your guest, and dont actually add any additional fun to the story, as the fun/absurd/surreal/weird part of the moment is already known to us all listening in on the story by the guest
