During the testcard before Radio 1 closing down there was a cut off
The sound cut off because of issues with sound system.
Looking at that prime time line up for RTE 1, we can see they were well into their summer season of schedules which saw massive cutbacks to home produced shows. End of May until the end of September was always the lean season for RTE 1 and Network 2 then.
Almost 30 years ago....where did the time go
We all grew up and moved away and forgot about it all.
Michal Murphy was the newscaster name
Can anyone remember the name of this newscaster, loved his voice..

He used to sometimes get mixed up with the presenter Mike Murphy, so he used Michael to help.
What I admired about Michael Murphy's talent was the way he pronounced "Gardai". He pronounced it as "The Gor-dee"
RTE News Summaries back then on television was simply the nearest RTE Radio 1 news summary, ripped from the printer and handed to the newsreader with no autocue and no video clips. The small bulletins studio was (and probably still is) located in the newsroom.

@@TVCurator Awww that's disappointing, anyway could you at least record Cúla4 starting up at 6am like normal and TG4 +1 starting up at 8pm like normal?
Yeah I can maybe tonight/tomorrow. I think I also have some footage of Cúla4's pre launch.

@@TVCurator thanks, also I don't think anyone has recorded the launch of TG4 +1 and uploaded it to youtube (there is one video that supposedly shows this but it's fake)
