I love how Guzma specializes in Bug out of all types. You'd probably expect something like Dark or Ghost, but somehow he pulls it off and his fight is really challenging as well.
Guzma was a tougher battle than the Elite Four, final Lusamine, Red/Blue, and the Title Defense opponents for me. Also, smart design, they made his strongest Pokémon his first and last one you face. I like that.

Ok, I'm essentially tripping, but whilst i heard this i made up an entire scenario in my head. In a scenario where multiple pokemons decide to rebel and attack their trainers, i imagine guzma would end up being caught off guard by something, (idk, but i think a delphox looks nice in this scenario), not having time to react guzma tries to throw hands with the thing but eventually falls with multiple burns. The pokemon aproaches to deal a final blow until one of guzma's pokeballs breaks open and a very fucking pissed Golisopod just grabs the thing by the neck and throws it to the grownd. The other pokemon gets up and stares at the golisopod for a moment. (Music plays)

Man oh man, I love the suspense for something epic to happen from 00:18 and towards the drop to full beat. I imagine Team skull with Guzma has to get away after stolen something from a science lab, like Aether foundation or something like that... The team gets surronded by cops, but Guzma let Golisopod crush the wall just as planned, because on the outside, a big mob of Team Skull grunts are ready to back them in a battle.

The main reasons it's harder than past games are the improved AI - I hope someone can link that video of a wild Sandile using Swagger on its own ally because its ally was immune to being confused so Swagger just gave it the boost to its Attack. And the fact that the major enemies have Pokemon with competitively viable stat spreads.
What's that? "Black and White had a good story and cast of characters," you say? Maybe for a Poke'mon game's standards. Oh? You say "Poke'mon Sun and Moon had a great story and cast of characters?" Hell YEAH it did.
I agree. Black and White's story was really cool in concept. But something about pretty much all of the Poke'mon games' stories are so stilted and forced. I didn't get that with Sun and Moon, though.
SonicPrototype Okay- why do people think Sun and Moon had a great story?. It had like 5 characters with an actual background and forgettable cutscenes every other minute. Lillie was annoying af, Gladion was edgy af. Hau and Kukui were kinda okay. Guzma and team skull was pretty funny tbh. I honestly didn't care about Lillie, Gladion or worst of all- their mother. Even so- I tried to look at the story objectively. It's simply not thst good. It had a better atmosphere most of the time and the character development was okay but those are the only good things I can think of. The weird thing abput it was this: The characters and story were really silly and at the same time kinda dark and mature. The abusive mother f.Ex. was rather mature, but Hau was really silly. It wasn't even made in a way it feels like a good balance of silly and mature characters- it was just weird. And the one thing that fked the story up for me the most: The smile of the protagonist's face. Like wtf, m8? It ruined every fkin cutscene for me. The dialogues were poorly written too imo. I just think that Cheren was more interesting and had better writing than Hau, Bianca was more useful than Lillie, N's "truth and ideals" thing was better than Gladion's "I'm an edgelord but I've learned to be a little less edgy". Kukui was better than B&W's prof and Guzma was better than Ghetsis though.
I disagree. I think Sun and Moon had a great balance. It'd be one thing if silly characters like Hau were just, silly, and that's it... But Hau was given a lot of self-awareness, and his overall light-hearted attitude is addressed to be a coping method he uses so he can keep his spirits up. That self-awareness is a great aspect to almost all the characters. Especially Gladion. Because, ironically, Hau was the one to always comment on Gladion's attitude. I think N is really great, but Sun and Moon really delivers on the story-telling in a way that Black and White never did. -Nor did any of the other Poke'mon games, frankly. Ultimately, Lillie was the selling point for me, though. I do agree with the facial expressions. TOTALLY took away from the scenes.
For one thing, you really have it all wrong. Except for the Protagonists's always smiling face. I have no idea WHY you find Lillie annoying, because she's practically the character that receives the MOST development. She's not always stuck in her ways and she develops throughout the story. At first she seems a bit ridiculous, but considering what she's gone through she has every right for her belief, even if they are a bit misguided. Gladion is not supposed to be an edgelord. Sure he seems like one, but his character was never built to be one. It was built to be a troubled personality. The things he does aren't because he's rebellious or because he hates certain things, they're because he's trying to figure out what to do with himself. He realized his mother's psychoticness and fled. He had the guts to save a pokemon from his mother and leave. He was never truly an edgelord. He's just a misguided soul who's kind at heart. And for one thing, I don't understand how you can say the dialogue was poorly written. It was written to reflect natural reactions in certain situations. You can't really alter Lusamine's dialogue considering the fact that her entire dialogue is affected by the fact tat Nihilego's toxins are corrupting her mind, making her talk more forward and more primitively, rather than educated and proper. Lillie's dialogue is beautifully done, reflecting her character well and not being overly cheesy at the same time. I should also mention how the story is way more thought out than even BW's story was. Sure, BW had the whole N/Ghetsis twist and the Pokémon Liberation. but it didn't go much farther than that. All BW had going story-wise was character reactions and backstories. Sun and Moon subtly, and cleverly, tied everything together. Team Skull was helping Aether, Lusamine's crazy schemes, the true secret behind the UB encounters. It wasn't just 'Stop the evil team from doing THIS' you weren't just suddenly thrown into the story with no explanation. You could see it coming, but the extent of what you knew before was only minimal. There was no doubt Lusamine was up to something, but the true horror of her plans was more frightening than originally imagined. Nor was there expected to be an actual reason for her psychotic tendencies. Sure the story wasn't some grand scale plan for mass destruction or world domination, but that makes it so much greater. It was personal. It wasn't about saving the world or the region, it was about saving someone who everyone else would have passed by. Lusamine didn't deserve to be saved, but she was. Not because of some really vague explanation, and she wasn't just suddenly good again, you went in and helped Lillie talk to her. You fought against her beliefs and ideals. You saved the monster who nobody else would have saved.
By combining UK Hardcore with DnB, you actually managed to independently recreate Jungle. Jungle actually originates from UK Hardcore with heavy reggae influence (particularly with ragga basslines), and is often seen as the primogenitor of DnB.

The team gets surronded by cops, but Guzma let Golisopod crush the wall just as planned, because on the outside, a big mob of Team Skull grunts are ready to back them in a battle.
First impressions are the greatest.
This is the best remix of Guzma's battle theme that I have ever heard and likely ever will hear.... In my opinion.

The main reasons it's harder than past games are the improved AI - I hope someone can link that video of a wild Sandile using Swagger on its own ally because its ally was immune to being confused so Swagger just gave it the boost to its Attack. And the fact that the major enemies have Pokemon with competitively viable stat spreads.
Hope we get the second best bug type in the dlc for scarlet and violet , it fills my heart with joy seeing that adorable face.

Black and White's story was actually quite thought out and clever. However, we all know that Sun and Moon truy hold the superior story.
I agree. Black and White's story was really cool in concept. But something about pretty much all of the Poke'mon games' stories are so stilted and forced.

I honestly didn't care about Lillie, Gladion or worst of all- their mother.
Even so- I tried to look at the story objectively.
It's simply not thst good.
It had a better atmosphere most of the time and the character development was okay but those are the only good things I can think of.
The weird thing abput it was this:
The characters and story were really silly and at the same time kinda dark and mature.
The abusive mother f.Ex. was rather mature, but Hau was really silly.
It wasn't even made in a way it feels like a good balance of silly and mature characters- it was just weird.
And the one thing that fked the story up for me the most:
The smile of the protagonist's face.
Like wtf, m8?
It ruined every fkin cutscene for me.
The dialogues were poorly written too imo.
I just think that Cheren was more interesting and had better writing than Hau, Bianca was more useful than Lillie, N's "truth and ideals" thing was better than Gladion's "I'm an edgelord but I've learned to be a little less edgy".
Kukui was better than B&W's prof and Guzma was better than Ghetsis though.
I disagree. I think Sun and Moon had a great balance. It'd be one thing if silly characters like Hau were just, silly, and that's it...
But Hau was given a lot of self-awareness, and his overall light-hearted attitude is addressed to be a coping method he uses so he can keep his spirits up. That self-awareness is a great aspect to almost all the characters. Especially Gladion. Because, ironically, Hau was the one to always comment on Gladion's attitude.
I think N is really great, but Sun and Moon really delivers on the story-telling in a way that Black and White never did. -Nor did any of the other Poke'mon games, frankly.
Ultimately, Lillie was the selling point for me, though.
I do agree with the facial expressions. TOTALLY took away from the scenes.
For one thing, you really have it all wrong. Except for the Protagonists's always smiling face.
I have no idea WHY you find Lillie annoying, because she's practically the character that receives the MOST development. She's not always stuck in her ways and she develops throughout the story. At first she seems a bit ridiculous, but considering what she's gone through she has every right for her belief, even if they are a bit misguided.
Gladion is not supposed to be an edgelord. Sure he seems like one, but his character was never built to be one. It was built to be a troubled personality. The things he does aren't because he's rebellious or because he hates certain things, they're because he's trying to figure out what to do with himself. He realized his mother's psychoticness and fled. He had the guts to save a pokemon from his mother and leave. He was never truly an edgelord. He's just a misguided soul who's kind at heart.
And for one thing, I don't understand how you can say the dialogue was poorly written. It was written to reflect natural reactions in certain situations. You can't really alter Lusamine's dialogue considering the fact that her entire dialogue is affected by the fact tat Nihilego's toxins are corrupting her mind, making her talk more forward and more primitively, rather than educated and proper. Lillie's dialogue is beautifully done, reflecting her character well and not being overly cheesy at the same time.
I should also mention how the story is way more thought out than even BW's story was. Sure, BW had the whole N/Ghetsis twist and the Pokémon Liberation. but it didn't go much farther than that. All BW had going story-wise was character reactions and backstories. Sun and Moon subtly, and cleverly, tied everything together. Team Skull was helping Aether, Lusamine's crazy schemes, the true secret behind the UB encounters. It wasn't just 'Stop the evil team from doing THIS' you weren't just suddenly thrown into the story with no explanation. You could see it coming, but the extent of what you knew before was only minimal. There was no doubt Lusamine was up to something, but the true horror of her plans was more frightening than originally imagined. Nor was there expected to be an actual reason for her psychotic tendencies. Sure the story wasn't some grand scale plan for mass destruction or world domination, but that makes it so much greater. It was personal. It wasn't about saving the world or the region, it was about saving someone who everyone else would have passed by. Lusamine didn't deserve to be saved, but she was. Not because of some really vague explanation, and she wasn't just suddenly good again, you went in and helped Lillie talk to her. You fought against her beliefs and ideals. You saved the monster who nobody else would have saved.
Out of all the Guzma battle theme remixes here on youtube, this has got to be my favorite
By combining UK Hardcore with DnB, you actually managed to independently recreate Jungle. Jungle actually originates from UK Hardcore with heavy reggae influence (particularly with ragga basslines), and is often seen as the primogenitor of DnB.
