I like hearing that some places still have one open somewhere ❤
There aren't many on this list but at least there are a couple. They were once part of chains.
Hot N Now, last one is up in MI.
Hot N Now has 1 left in MI. 😊 @@RhettyforHistory
@@RhettyforHistorygood Sunday 🌄☕
OMG, I didn't know about Souplantation, it was my favorite restaurant before we moved to the Midwest from Los Angeles. Thanks for sharing Rhetty ❤
BURGER CHEF!!!❤😊 So many great childhood memories there!! I would literally cry in the car if we drove past it and not stop to eat.😢 Hope everything is ok with you and your loved ones. Prayers went up for you.❤
Burger Chef was the first place of that type I ever went to. It was in the next state, but we lived near enough to go if we were shopping in that area.
@@diannelavoie5385 Remember Burger Chef and Jeff?
Cry? "I'll give you something to cry about."
Thank you for watching and I appreciate your thoughts and prayers for us. Those Burger Chef restaurants were really popular and I'm surprised they ever even went out of business.
@RhettyforHistory they went out of business burger Chef because of the burger Chef murders in speedway indiana then Hardee's took them over at the time general Mills cearl owned them and sold them to Hardee's
I grew up with Howard Johnson's, Lums, and Henry's. The Howard Johnsons was a big treat because as kids, we did not go out to dinner very often. I loved the "clam strip" night! I also miss Sizzler and Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips. As an adult, I loved the Steak and Ale restaurant we had, with good food and entertainment. They were a chain and just read they are going to re-open one in Minnesota. I am hoping they come back to Connecticut! 😊
Thank you for watching and sharing some of the places you went to growing up!
My parents and I used to go to the Lums in Davie, Florida, back when i was a kid in the 1970s.They served one of my childhood favorites , the Ollieburger, and I would order one everytime we went. Back then, Davie had a lot of farmland and the Lums we went to was across the street from a cattle pasture. I can still remember the soft, clinking of the cowbells in the distance when we'd enter or leave the restaurant. it would often be just before sunset, and it was so quiet and peaceful. Funny how some of our most simple memories, can often be some of our best.
Yes I remember that one too, I lived in Broward county back in the 70s when I was a kid. There was one off 441 and Sunrise Blvd too back then. Great hot dogs too.
You're right about those simple memories. The ones with friends and family can be the best. Thank you for watching and sharing your memories ericad8616!
@@frankrizzo4460I remember the one on Sunrise Blvd. across from Sears Town in Ft. Lauderdale.
@@bunnybachman Yes I do remember that one, further down there was a Neba roast beef sandwich restaurant in that area as well if I remember correctly.
@@frankrizzo4460 yes!
Burger chef, Gino’s, Roy Rogers, White Castle, Jack in the Box, Carvel. Woolworths lunch counter. Jersey Girl, so these reflect my area. Another good one Rhetty, thanks again.
Did you have the Jack in the Box where the clown comes out of the box?
Not here in my area anymore
You're welcome and thank you for watching loriz369! You sure named some good ones!
Country Kitchen. it was pretty much a staple along Midwestern interstates when I was a kid.
Thank you for watching and sharing your memories of Country Kitchen!
My dad still to this day talks about Red Steer & their famous Finger Steaks. They were an Idaho based hamburger chain known for their dinner baskets like steak or shrimp. And their famous Fry sauce!! Died out sometime in the early 80's I think. Too bad because those finger steaks were so good!! 🥰❤️
That sounds like a great place. It's always sad to see one that people love disappear. Thank you for watching and sharing your memories of Red Steer!
Loved eating at Burger Chef.
I so remember
their "Big Chef, Top Chef and Super Chef burgers."
Salad bar and Burger Chef & Jeff mascots.😁
Thank you for watching and sharing some of your memories of Burger Chef!
My mom worked at burger chef before I was born. And BBF
Thank you for watching and telling us where your mom worked zyn87!
Myaunt worked at a White Tower back in the 70's. Loved their burgers. She would take care of us whenever we went there. Extra fries, free refills. It makes me sad when I see how many things are gone from my youth. 😢
It is strange to see things go and especially if we have family and friends connected to places. Thank you for watching and sharing your story with us Greg!
No shirts No shoes No dice!
Thank you for watching user-sl7bo1em5d!
I liked Furr's Cafeteria.
Thank you for watching and sharing one you liked WilliamWeicht!
I was thinking the same thing. There was one in Amarillo, tx last time I went but it wasn't anything like the ones I used to go to
That's a good one. I ate at Furrs as a wee lad (it was my grandpa's favorite restaurant), and then it got replaced in our area by Luby's, which as far as I know also no longer exists?
I remember as a kid in South Florida going to Lum's, Swiss Chalet, Howard Johnson's, Morrison's and Duff's too.
Thank you for watching and sharing some of the ones you went to Frank!
Loved Burger Chef, Red Barn, Arthur Treachers, Ponderosa, Sizzler, Country Kitchen, Chi-Chi's. Many good memories. Oh! Grandma always took us to lunch at Woolworth's counter. 😊 I'm in Ohio and we have the last two Arthur Teacher's. As always, i thoroughly enjoyed chasing memories.😊
Thank you for watching leesashriber5097. I didn't realize there were any Arthur Treachers left. I appreciate you letting us know and sharing some you loved.
As a kid, my family would all go out to eat on Sunday after church. One of the places we would go is Howard Johnson's. I miss it. I always got ice cream.
That was sure an iconic one. Thank you for watching and sharing one you mis Dave!
Kelly's Hamburgers (a local traditional drive-in) got run out of business by McDonald's. But there was a Gino's right across the street (it would become Burger King), and they used to have price wars. McDonald's charged 15 cents for a burger, so Gino's would charge 13 ... and then McDonald's would go to 12. Hard to imagine today.
That really is. Burger wars were great for consumers. Thank you for watching and sharing your memories with us Tim!
Im in tears over the prices of food back in the good ol days 😫😫😓😓
Thank you for watching nicolejohnson4989!
I remember Howard Johnson's; they always seemed to have such strong air conditioning. I remember shivering everytime I finished my ice cream. Oh and also Beefsteak Charlie's, they had a children's playroom with a huge chest full of toys.
Thank you for watching and sharing some of your memories engineersoldiersspiritof7621! Both of the two you mentioned were pretty great places!
I remember Naugles, a Tex-Mex fast food place started by a one-time partner of the founders of Del Taco. They eventually rejoined Del Taco and all remaining locations became Del Taco.
I didn't know about them. Thank you for watching and mentioning Naugles!
We had a Lums in our town and the building has been home to many different eating establishments over the years. The last one was Godfathers Pizza. Now it's a crematorium.
Oh wow! They are still cooking up things I guess. Thank you for watching and telling us about that.
Here in the greater Seattle area Herfy's was a popular burger chain in the 1960s and 1970s. Gone now.
I did not know about that one. Thank you for watching and mentioning it. I'll have to see about getting it in a future episode!
There are 7 left in the area. Quick map search.
Yes--Herfy's! The Wacky Burger Box! There was one really close to me as a girl in the 70s. One of my sisters worked there briefly.
@@laureencriss8220In Everett alone there were two or three Herfy's -- one in the very south end of town next to a bowling alley, and another on Broadway near North Junior High School. Us kids liked to hang out at these spots.
I remember Pizza Haven. Washington State
Thanks. Here in North Central Indiana we had a restaurant called The Big Wheel. Mom and Grandma would take us there whenever we went to kokomo. Loved that place!
Thank you for watching and sharing your memories of where your Mom and Grandma would take you. Those are always the best places.
Dad would take us to Burger Chef back in the late sixties. Great memories, love and miss you Dad ❤️
Thank you for watching and sharing your memories of you and your Dad.
Sambo’s. was great. Good food, good prices.
Thanks for watching and mentioning another one Douglas!
Their location in Lincoln City, Oregon is still around. It burned down at one point, but the new build was on THE original foundation.
Very good!
They had Sambo's where my grandmother lived near Wilmington, Delaware. I remember they had branding problems and had to change the name to Sam's.
I remember many of these! Nowadays, we have just a few choices - burgers, chicken or tacos, it seems. That's probably why I go local more often, so it's not a really bad thing.
It has definitely changed a lot and you're right about the choices. Thank you for watching Nicki!
The only one I remember was Red Barn, because my auntie worked there as a teenager.....
Oh nice! Thank you for watching and letting us know where your Auntie worked TopGunAce23!
Loved Burger Chef as a kid! Remember when they had on Wednesdays 29cent hamburgers and 39 cent cheeseburgers. We would load em up with toppings at the burger bar.
Thank you for watching and sharing your memories of Burger Chef!
I miss Country Cookin’. They were a staple in our area. About two years ago someone tried to open a restaurant in our mall like Country Cookin’ and naming it that. You couldn’t make people understand that there was no way it could be exactly like the old one. The owners said they were going to do their best to replicate the original one, but it simply was impossible for it to be exactly the same. Unfortunately, they closed down after about six months.
Oh wow! That was a very short lived attempt. I bet they lost a lot of money on that one. Thank you for watching and telling us about that.
Bring back Steak& Ale!! I was a bartender there 33yrs ago and met my future wife who was a hostess.
Oh what a cool story. Thank you for watching GlockPointer!
Yes! Steak & Ale was so neat. Always had a cool vibe to me.
When I was a kid, there was a tiny little place called Twisty ice cream. They served soft serve cones along with chicken tender baskets or burger combos. They came with the best fries I ever had. Lots of good childhood memories from there. They only had a few picnic tables out front to sit at, but most of the time, we'd just eat in the car. The chocolate and vanilla swirl cone was my favorite to get.🍦😊
Thank you for watching Shannon. That twisty ice cream sounded like a great place and the name is perfect too. I appreciate you sharing some of your memories of going there.
I'm 21, sitting here being told about restaurants I have never heard of all my life. I'm not the target demographic but this is entertaining nonetheless.
Thank you for watching and I'm happy to hear that you are finding it entertaining!
Hey, don't feel too bad about it! I am 57 and was alive when these restaurants were still around. Never ate at any restaurant on this list but Burger Chef. It was really good. Loved the "Works" bar where you could dress your burger how you wanted.
I agree! I wish I had a time machine to go back and try some of these…😋
Our family enjoyed many of the cafeterias in Southern California. One that brings a lot of memories is The Hollander Cafeteria. Thanks again for the many great videos!
You're welcome Fred and I appreciate you sharing another restaurant for us to remember. Thank you for watching!
Sweet Tomatoes/Souplantation was a GIANT loss - I loved that place so much - we went weekly for years
Thank you for watching and sharing where you used to go Lanie_5D!
Mr. Fables was the absolute best. The olive burger and onion rings were incredible! Used to go sometime several times a week.
Thank you for watching and sharing your memories of Mr. Fables!
Awwww, we miss Mr Fables in West Michigan. Thank you for the fun videos ❤
I lived in SC for 40 years & never heard of Yogi Bear Restaurant until now.I have heard of a few of these former restaurants like Pizza Inn.
Loved your Video & have a Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
I used to go to lums in Florida with my parents when I was a little kid
Thank you for watching and sharing where you used to go Edward!
Wow. Only one near me was Lums and it was closed before I was old enough to remember it.
Thank you for watching Joe! It's too bad many of us didn't get to try these.
Taco Tico in Kansas was awesome, you could get a taco burger, I think there's still one or two left
We had one of those where I lived and I loved it. I haven't seen one in decades. They even had a playground like McDonalds and Burger King. Thank you for watching Bill!
Omg a taco burger sounds sooo good!
Rhetty, I'll have you know Anderson, Indiana still has a Frisches Big Boy still operating. They even havd "Big Boy" out front.
Those Big Boys are interesting how they all have different names. Ours here was called Kips Big Boy. Same statue that all the others had. Ours closed out in the early 80s but I sure loved it. I need to make my way to one of the others still open. Thank you for watching and telling me about those!
Oh yeah, we sure do have some in Ohio; here in Dayton (I can walk to it, lol), in Cincinnati, Hamilton, Springfield, etc. Evidently, there are some in Kentucky also. Been awhile since I had a Big Boy and fries, sounds good right about now. Lol.
Always loved that location. The one in Burbank, CA [Bob's Big Boy] is cool, as they have a night where vintage cars show up and park, like a car show.
When my mother was in high school in Anderson in the late 50s, they'd cruise through that Big Boy parking lot, go up to Alibi, then back around.
The Big Boy manager at the time decided that he'd charge the kids 25 cents to use their parking lot as the turn-around for their cruising, as he didn't like all of the cars driving in and out. The kids changed their cruising habits and cut out Big Boy for a while. Their business took a dive so quickly that this ideas was stopped, and the kids were allowed to keep driving through. Turns out, a good deal of them would stop and buy something!
I miss the old Anderson. RIP to the Mounds Mall, Delco Remy, and Guide Lamp UAW Local 663.
@@DrumWild, So we had the same stomping grounds so to speak. I lived in Frankton and Elwood.
We have several Frisch's Big Boy restaurants in my little corner of Ohio. But I remember being on vacation in the 90s (or maybe late 80s) and eating at a Big Boy that was not Frisch's. The menu/recipe was different, so whatever I ordered didn't taste the same.
Northern Dairy Bar in Berlin,N.H. they made homemade ice cream from there own cows and great fresh seafood . Sorry to hear it
Closed.
Thank you for watching and sharing another one for us to remember user-tt1qo7gc1u!
I hope everything is better for you and your family
Thank you. It's going to take a little while but I appreciate your kind words.
What happened????
I liked Howard Johnson’s
We always stopped there when we were traveling. I remember them having pretty good food.
That was definitely a staple while traveling. Thank you for watching grangrampa832!
I remember them having pretty good food
Thanks for the video, from Australia, I've been subbed to you for about 3 years now, great stuff 😊
Thank you for sticking with me all these years. I've definitely seen you commenting and I'm happy to hear you are enjoying the content. You'll have to let us know a out the Red Barn restaurants that were where you are.
@@RhettyforHistory - Red Barn didn't last long, about 3 years until a take away chicken chain called "Chicken Chef" took over & the chicken is over greasy and tasteless
Loved eating at Burger Chef.
@TimelessCraze - where is that, none in Adelaide?
BURGER CHEF! My all time fav. Hot N Now, started in Michigan in 1984 as drive thru focused, with a single walk up window, grew to over 100 locations in 15 states. This was my favorite until they unfortunately went out of business, except for a single location in Sturgis, MI. They auctioned off their original drive thru menu board in 2023 when they updated to electronic menu board
That would have been cool to have that old menu board. Thank you for watching and sharing your memories with us!
When I was a kid there was a Lone Ranger restaurant. One of my all time favorites was Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor. Ed Debevic's was a fun place to go to as well. Oddly, our local Farrell's was replaced with an Ed Debevic's.
I haven't heard of a Lone Ranger but did it have the same theme as the show? That sounds like an interesting one. I appreciate you watching and sharing some of your memories.
@RhettyforHistory It did. It had photos from the show on the wallz and the outdoor sign was shaped like a giant spur.
I took my future wife to my hometown Red Barn for lunch one day. I had been away with the Army for 8 years and was shocked when we pulled in. They converted it to Red Barn Discount Cigarettes.
Oh wow, that's a big change. Thank you for watching and sharing a memory with us.
I miss the old Sandy's restaurant. Hardees took it over. The fries from McDonald's back in the late '60s were so dang good!! 🍟I miss that old "Googie" (just in case, pronunciation: GOO SHEE), architecture style. Those futuristic designs were classic of the era back then like the original McDonalds. Thanks, Rhett. I'm craving a lot of this food now, hahaha!! 🍟🍔🍕🍗
Uh oh! Sorry about making you have a craving. I have not heard of Googie before now. Thank you for watching and sharing your memories with us Vicki!
I believe I was around fourteen years old, my Dad was working on his PhD at Bowling Green State University and I was visiting him in the summer from our native Minnesota. I would go to Burger Chef for one of their flame broiled inexpensive burgers. Absolutely delicious ! It was just a really great memory ! Thank you
Souplantation was a go-to lunch place during our mid-day split-shift lunch creak at Disneyland (parade department). It was a cheap place to get fed during the 90 minutes we had until we needed to be back for the 2nd parade.
The other fast food place in Fast Times at Ridgemont High" was Perry's Pizza. I worked there in the early 80s (their Garden Grove location, not the other location in the movie). It used to be across the street from our high school but it had to move when the strip mall it was in was sold to build condos on. It moved .5 mile away and is still there. Perry sold both locations before he passed, but our owner also sold 15 years ago or so. It's now under an unrelated ownership but still has the name. Most of the menu is the same and it's still a hang out for the local high school.
Thank you for watching and sharing some of your memories lohphat. I appreciate you mentioning Perry's Pizza as well.
Burger Queen closed before I was born, but I still remember seeing some of the buildings around and occasionally came across some of their adds.
I don't think that I have ever seen one in the area I was in but I have definitely seen some of the old advertisements. Thank you for watching aniE1869!
I'm from Anderson, Indiana and we loved Burger Chef when I was a kid. I'm surprised this didn't mention "Jeff". It started out with just Burger Chef, but later began incorporating a second associate named "Jeff". The TV commercial jungles also sang "Burger Chef and Jeff". I so miss when food was cheep and lacked the nasty additives and poisons they use now.
Another great one Rhett, thank you. Hope all is well with you & yours. You sure know how to make someone want a burger 😊👍❣️
I'm sorry about making you hungry Lisa! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Here in Texas, Pancho's Mexican Buffet was a popular place. They were founded in 1958 and had locations in several states in the Southwest. Now they only have a handful of "smaller" locations open in DFW and Houston.
I wasn't sure if were any left. I remember going in those and raising the little flag for more table service. I haven't been in one of those in decades. Thank you for watching!
@@RhettyforHistoryThank you for the work you do. Our whole family enjoys your channel. Keep up the great work!

I love Burger Chef and Captain D's when I was young♥️😊
Thank you for watching and sharing a couple you love jackietaylor4196!
I miss Pizza Inn. They had the best cherry pizza. Oh, and the taco pizza
That really was a great pizza place and there used to be a lot of them all over the place. Thank you for watching!
I remember Burger Chef. There is a Wings Ole Restaurant here in my town that is in the Burger Chef building. Still has the Burger Chef logo on the door handles.
That is really cool that the logo is still on the door handles. Most places would get rid of that. Thank you for watching and sharing your memories with us.
Well done. When I was a kid Goody’s burger was the go to place in New Jersey. Loved their fries.
Good news on Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes (where I live)
They had reopened up a Sweet Tomatoes in Tuscon, AZ, back in April, and it seems to be thriving! I plan on making the drive from Phoenix to reunite with my favorite restaurant ever 😁
Your videos make my day! I appreciate you!
Hope everything is going well with you and your fam!
You're welcome and thank you for watching BIGGER_RED.
What a time to be alive! I hate this world now! So sad what has happened to America!
Thank you for watching Jennifer!
Anyone remember Pup 'N' Taco, Sambos, Alphy's and Naugles in Southern California🤔Have a great Memorial Day everybody🙏🏻ROCK ON!!!!!!!🤘🏻🤙🏻✌🏻
Yes!!! I remember all of those.
I worked at Naugles when I was in high school. They have been revived. One in Stanton, one in Fountain Valley.
Thanx. Have a great weekend as well! 😄
Never heard of any of them
Thank you for watching and sharing some other ones for us to remember. I hope you have a great Memorial Day as well!
I liked Bob’s Big Boy. They had liver and onions. We had a restaurant called Bill Johnson’s The Big Apple… it had sawdust on the floor. It was so cool. Till 40 years later they took the sawdust out claiming unsanitary… then it closed down. We had a Bobby Mcgees too. The waiters and waitresses would dress up like characters ( people characters…not fur characters) that was a fun place…
We had a lot of good restaurants that are gone. Lunt Ave Marble Club, Eagees ( a sandwich shop) it smelled so good. 🥺
Thank you for watching and sharing some of your memories of different places PHBRNTGGR2!
What a trip down memory lane. Thanks so much for these videos 🙏❤️
You're welcome and thank you for watching dixieleeranch8734!
Here in Columbus OH there were two locations where the buildings are still around, if not the original restaurants. Lum's used to be on the corner of N. High St and Spring St in the Downtown area, but it shut down in I believe the early-mid 1980s and the building was converted to a Kinko's and now is a Fed Ex. A former Burger Chef that used to be on S. High near Dering Ave. in South Columbus has been a used car lot for years now. If you look at the building it's still the same design as the Burger Chef.
It's always fun to see those old buildings and know that they were. My kids don't feel the same way when I point them out though. Thank you for watching and sharing your memories with us!
Really miss the pizza joints we had as kids, and it was good pizza and popular and also had arcade games to play, sucks they all went bye bye.
Pizza joints were definitely the place to go for a good arcade game or two. Thank you for watching and sharing your memories.
Roy Rogers was great. I remember that awesome sauce they had , it was like a tangy BBQ sauce.
I really loved that place and I was mad when Arby's bought all of the locations where I was. Thank you for watching Wildbill!
You ought to do one for sit down service restaurants. Here in Dallas I think of places that shut down like Bennigan’s, Steak and Ale, Bonanza, Western Sizzler, and Big Boys.
I have Big Boys and Steak and Ale in a previous video but the others that you mentioned need to be in a future video. Thank you for watching and mentioning them.
TGI Friday’s
I remember a fast food restaurant in NW Ark called Mr. Quik. There was also Mr. Burger and Tastee-Freez.
Mr. Quik had 39¢ burgers in the 80s.
I remember both Mr. Burger and Tastee-Freez but I have not heard of Mr. Quick until now. Thank you for watching and mentioning some others for us to remember.
Hi Rhetty! Love your channel. At 3:28 of this video you show a picture of All American which looks like the one in Massapequa, NY. I live on LI and still go there occasionally and it’s still amazing!
I did not realize there was still one around. Thank you for watching and letting us know Jason!
I remember “Sandys” in Freeport Illinois 1968, the little Scott Girl in plaid was cute advertising 👍
My first job was at Howard Johnson 's in Ohio. The clam dinners were so good and they gave you alot of clams. Another thing i remember is Indian pudding. It was served warm with whip cream on top.
Thank you for watching and sharing your memories of working at Howard Johnsons. That was such an iconic place.
At age 74 I remember them all and they had good food !
We live in a day and age where fast food usually means a big-name franchise. Want a burger? Well, there are two McDonald's a few minutes away, a Burger King, Wendy's, and maybe even a Hardee's (seems those shut down here around Baton Rouge, though). Maybe you have a DQ nearby, or a Whataburger, Jack-in-the-Box, or even Roy Rogers.
There are still some regional holdouts. What-A-Burger (not the TX-based chain) has a few locations in and around Richmond, VA. There's a small chain called Rush's around Columbia, SC, and Jack's is a slowly growing AL-based chain. Going to one of those, or even to a small-town DQ, provides a more pleasurable experience than just about any of the big names in burgers.
I didn't even know there was a What-A-Burger. I haven't seen a Roy Rogers in forever. Early 80s maybe. I thought they were all gone and I loved that place. Thank you for watching anonymousm9113!
@RhettyforHistory There are still some Roy Roger's in the DC area. I went to the outside of Fort Belvoir a few times before I retired. Fast service and good food, plus I think they reopened the Fixins Bar, which closed in 2020. Best part, to me, is the malt vinegar and Old Bay for the fries.
One of my favs from back in the day in the St Louis area was Chuck-A-Burger. I believe there's one left in North St Louis.
That's a fun name. Thank you for watching and sharing one of your favorites.
My late woman worked at burger chef...i might have seen her way back then...we met when i was about 40.
You forgot Arthur Treacher’s fish & chips. As a kid, I thought it was better than Long John Silver’s, especially growing up in the midwest where seafood was kind of scarce, especially having 4 seafood-phobic sisters, hence never got to eat it often. Also was a huge fan of Lum’s. Was sad to see it go…
Arthur Treacher's was awesome back in the 70s and early 80s. They were always packed in those days. The chips were those wide-cut fries that were actually way better than McDonald's fries. Then they were acquired by another company and they started using cheaper fish and other ingredients and that spelled the end.
AT was way better than LJS.
Thank you for watching and sharing your memories with us mcorleonep! Someone just mentioned that there are two Arthur Treachers left. I thought they were all long gone.
@@RhettyforHistory Yes, I’m aware both in Ohio. Best fish & chips I had in the states but the ones I had in the UK were the best.
You showed the All American in Massapequa, New York. That place is a landmark on Long Island. Always packed
I miss Shaky’s Pizza and Charburger. These were places in Texas in the 1970’s-1980’s. Dang good pizza!
Two places that I wish were still around are Fudrucker's and Ferrell's. My first birthday party was at Ferrell's in Honolulu. The last Fudrucker's I ate at was just south of Portland Oregon.
I remember both of those very well. At one time, they were both very popular. Thank you for watching and sharing two that you wish were still around.
I used to eat at McDowell's Hamburgers in Elmhurst, New York. Located at 8507 Queens Boulevard.
Thank you for watching and sharing one you used to eat at.
Steer Inn was another short-lived fast food chain that was big in the Northeast and was around from the late 50s / early 60s to only the early 70s. They were known for their 15 cent beefburgers and they also had good fries and milkshakes. They just couldn't compete with McDonald's though. I think Burger King wound up taking over and converting most of the Steer Inn restaurants.
Steer Inn still in Indy
@@loishunt2347 It's probably a one-off location that's not related to the long-defunct chain
Thank you for watching and sharing your memories of another restaurant JC-ec7ey!
I remember Roy rogers
I loved them and hated that Arby's bought all of the locations where I was.
I loved Suburpia Subs in the 70's. Their gold coast sub was soooo good. They've opened a few in WI and supposedly the one in Waukesha, WI is run by the original owners.
Thank you for watching and sharing a couple you loved edie9330!
Mr. Swiss chalet style hamburger stands! Triple XXX Root Beer stands. There is an original Triple XXX still open in Issaquah, Washington. Also there is still a Sambo's in Lincoln City, Oregon! Buckwheat pancakes 🥞 ☕
I didn't realize there were any Sambo's left. Thank you for watching and mentioning some others!
I miss burger chef.
I know that's one of the big ones on this list. Thank you for watching!
Yes! As Jeff would say, "It's incrediburgible!"
I do remember the burger shop in Niles Michigan.
Thank you for watching and telling us about that one David!
Sandy's Hamburgers in Tucson, I am pretty sure they were $.15 in the sixties. There was a Scottish lass doing the highland fling on the sign.
Thank you for watching and sharing one you went to moonectar!
In Redondo Beach, I loved Daddy Cools.
Thank you for watching and telling us about that one Russell!
I,live in Detroit, Michigan. I just finished watching your video about the Fast Food Restaurants from back in the day. When, the Food was Affordable, and Delicious, and Excellent Service, and the Right Orders..
Compared to Fast Food Restaurants nowadays and the food was not Affordable, and the Orders were wrong and service was lousy,,rude employees. 4:50
Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts and memories David!
Had a Roy’s a few blocks from my house on Long Island, NY. My buddies & I would go there for coffee-free refills!-& smoke cigarettes for hours. Starting at 12 y/o. That was early 90’s.
Could you imagine a bunch of 12 y/o’s doing that now? Crazy (of course, you can’t smoke anywhere indoors-& I quit years ago anyway)
Smoking rules and habits have definitely changed. Thank you for watching and sharing your memories!
We have a restaurant established several decades ago by the name of Giant Chef Burger.
Nice to know it is still going TheInkPitOx! Thank you for watching and telling us about it.
Burger Chef and Red Barn were restaurants that I loved as a kid. I was sad to see them go.
Never ate at any of the restaurants in the video. The one I do miss from my childhood is Bishop's Cafeteria.
Burger Chef! and as Jeff would say, "It's incediburgible!"
Had lots of great memories with Burger Chef in Indiana. Can't remember going there after the Burger Chef Murders, which is still a cold case to this day!
When I was researching that chain I saw that pop up and I knew nothing about it. I wonder if that somehow affected the business? Thank you for watching and mentioning it.

Bennigans was our go to full service dinner when I was in college in the late 80's not sure if any of those still exist.
I use to go to White Tower in Alexandria VA, they had great food.
Thank you for watching and letting us know that you went there. I never got the chance to go there but they sure were in business a long time.
@@RhettyforHistory The building had photos of it in the 1930s and 1940s on the wall.
