9 Essential Prepping Tools that You Haven't Thought Of

  • There are lots of videos out there about the "top must-have pieces of gear" and so forth, but most of them seem to include the same few things over and over. A good knife, a fire starter, a water filter, etc. That's all good stuff, but anyone who has undertaken a personal preparedness initiative for more than 5 minutes already knows about those items.
In this video, we're discussing 9 less-than-obvious pieces of preparedness equipment. To me, these tools aren't necessarily obscure, but I sure don't seem to hear most "preppers" talking about them.
Some of the Gear Shown in this Video:
    5 Gallon Bucket Opener Tool

    4-Way Sillcock Key

    Safety Glasses

    OZERO Work Gloves

Impact Sport Shooting Earmuffs w/ microphone

    24-Inch Bolt Cutters

This video deserves more likes. Touching on the zip ties, i got a bunch of large ones on a wagon that holds guns, hatchet, saw, bolt cutters. And a pack that carries more ties, scissors and extra parts for the wagon and tools.

You're right, too many of these type of videos focus too much on the "multi tool." Give me a good set of channel locks and bolt cutters over everything.

The manual winch was an outstanding prepping tool idea. I've always dwelt on the idea of getting one mounted on my vehicle but a heavy duty manual winch would work better because it's portable and it does not need electricity. Outstanding idea. I will order one today. Thanks

Hi! I just found your channel today, I am in Michigan. I gotta say you are so right about being done if your eyes get damaged. I scratched my cornea this summer and because we don't have insurance I did not go to the Dr. Well it caused an infection and I literally could not stand light and my balance was so bad I could barely walk. I was in the house sick as a dog for a month. I couldn't do anything, I'm a big safety glasses fan now.
I am enjoying your videos and love all the cooking.

Oh geez, that is awful about your scratched cornea! Hopefully all is well now. And thank you, I'm glad you enjoy the videos.

Hey thanks, Great Lakes! I've got all these except the winch. This has been a great reminder to pick one up! God bless!

Great video. How about doing a video on how to block the main drain line so that sewage does not back up into house after an EMP? Thanks!

Sewing kit not just for clothes but in case you need stiches trust me. Thanks for sharing your greate ideas. Also for the bucket use paint buckets painters throw them away they are way more tougher than regular one from homedepot and just ask a painter go to a construction site ask they don't mind

Real good common sense choices to deal with semi apocalyptic situations. You can never be over prepared. Thanks, Paul J.

Great tips. Maybe add the coding on the buckets - only get food grade - they are labeled 1, 2, 4, or 5, on the bottom. Those coded are safe for food and water, (also safe for growing vegetables, if you are short on outdoor space). Do not use any that have other coding.

I keep bolt cutters in my 4x4 as do a lot of off-roaders. Nothing worse than driving on a trail from one side of a national forest or mountain range to the other only to find out the exit gate is locked. Like you I don’t advocate breaking the law but there are times you don’t have the gas to go back the same way you came in. If that point I would cut the lock on the gate or perhaps the fencing. Just saying.

I think you should have covered foot care. If you damage your feet you are outoflock! A good strong pair of shoes or better boots can be a life saver! Thank you for the information! I had not thought of some of them.
