- Here is a quick look at our camper trailer folks. This is the second Drifta Camper we have owned. This is a bit different to our last one. This one is DOT 261. A 6' trailer with slide out kitchen, 270 degree awning and a Crazy Dog Canvas Roof Top Tent.
Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Caravans don't fit everyone. Seems you are happier with the trailer and it doesn't matter what other people say. Happy Trails and keep the vids coming.
Hello Buck. You mentioned that a camper trailer gives you more of a camping feeling than a caravan does. I agree with you. It feels more like camping with a camper tailer, because the setup is enjoyed from the outside, compared to a caravan, that is mostly focussed on the inside. When we go camping, we like to spend our time outside and only go inside to escape some bad weather or to sleep. Even when cooking and washing up, I prefer to do it outside. To see what is going on and enjoying the outdoor scenery and lifestyle. Camper trailers, tent, swag and roof top tent camping, each give us more of that outside with nature feeling when camping. Caravans are more like a self contained luxury apartment, towed behind a car. Caravans have their place, but for me, they are not focused on outdoor camping.

Hey Buck. I’ve got a DOT. Got rid of the little hand pump years ago. Fitted a normal tap at the front of the trailer connecting to the pump. Have found this works great for our system. 👍
Buck I know what your saying when you say you don't feel like your camping in a caravan.
We have gone back to a Soft Floor Camper Trailer and use Hammocks and Swags when we take the Grandkids!
I love my Hammock.

any problems with ventilation for fridge when travelling? is there a fan under there ? Do you get dust in any of the compartments?
No fan in there mate. When I am parked up, the fridge is always ventilated. The tailgate is fully dust sealed mate.

Exceed campers mate. Scotty and Michelle went out of business. Not sure why. Maybe manufacturing in this country is just too expensive and too hard now.

Mate I am currently sourcing a big bottle with a lid!!!!! lol. Ros will be in the oztent and we will have a chemical toilet.

fun fact! i said to my wife before watching your vid an RV 5 tent could work with said sytle camper cargo trailers, but also use a roof top on them overnight cam spots, so its why i asked you, been watching you both for years and knew if i asked you what you both use you would give me a no B/S answer.

Hey mate nice to have you back thought I have a peek if you changed your mind and lucky I did. Anyway thanks for the walk around obvious you are back in your elements and well deserved at that. Along with our son and his family we are leaving Melbourne on Friday the 2nd for Cape York via a 4 day stop over on Fraser Island. I am taking our caravan but will leave it in Cairns and continue on to the Old Telegraph track and tip as we prefer to camp that part of the trip. Can you recommend a short term caravan storage facility for around 7 to 10 days. I have researched and there are a fair few but just wanted your opinion. Cheers mate and nice to hear from you again.

Yes mate many of them a sew on. I just got industrial stick on velcro from my local vinyl shop.

Good to see you putting up some new clips. On your recommendation we stayed at Paradise camps 18 months ago on our way to the cape. Great spot but boy did it rain, the creek was running at about 15 knots .
We were 17 years with a camper trailer and now moved to a hybrid 13 footer. If I came home and told the wife we were going back to a camper trailer she’d nail my head to the wall😂

Great to see you both happy back in a DOT trailer mate. Another great little setup. Was wondering how Dee and Rob's place went in the floods. Good to see it looks to have faired ok. Have to get back there for a visit again sometime this year.
Yeah Rob said this time they had about 40cm through the camp kitchen. They have had up to a metre through it.
You seem to be much happier and relaxed with the DOT, than you were with the caravan, I would like to see more in depth if you have the time.

Hey Buck you can get foil liners for the Weber baby Q they bloody awesome saves on cleaning the gunk out
Those hybrid vans are surprisingly heavy buggers.
Too heavy for what they are and the tow ball weight was way too heavy.
We've got a baby Q in our caravan. Had it for many years. I've never heard about those legalities.
Mate I don't care anymore. Most people didn't but when you are on youtube, there are heaps of experts that pick you up on everything. The Weber didn't have a flame out device so you couldn't use them on a van that was gas plumbed.
Good to see you back mate. Hello from DOT266 🙂 these trailers are perfect, so we’ll designed and thought out. I actually looked at this trailer when I was in the market for a dot back in July. I settled on dot266 as it was leaf spring and the wheel track was set as the same as my GU Patrol. You’ll love the trailer. In my opinion there faultless and not to mention built like a tank. We’re planing on doing the old Tele track with the trailer in July 2025.

Hey Buck nice video. We own a Dot and had the same problem Mr Fuller gifted you aka hand pump not working. I am no Mr fixit and stuffed around with it for a few days before binning and buying a new one. Got mine online from "The Boat Warehouse (Belrose NSW)" Fynspray Manual Galley Pump - "Ultra" vertical Pump. Colour: Black. Cost delivered $143. No idea if Luke got them from there but it is the same pump two minutes to replace. For a video I am very Interested in how the free standing awning goes in heavy wind and rain still have the original on our Dot. Cheers
I actually got it going again mate. Pulled it apart. If it goes again, I will replace it. I know the old awning went well in strong winds. We had it go through a huge storm one night, feet pegged in with guy ropes and it held fast. My next clip will be on the Supapeg free standing awning. This one is certainly easy to set up.
If you play around with where you tie the front awning strap off, you can get rid of that sag. Snorky shows how in a video that was specifically about the awning.

Certainly got everything you need, I've got a Caravan but prefer camping in my rtt, caravan more for the wife, mate I love any content you put out, your a great story teller and never boring, in-depth videos on different topics will be very well received, that swimming spot is awesome

Hi Buck , interested to know what / why you didn't like the SIROCCO. I had an off Rd caravan as my wife wanted a bit of comfort , she recently passed away, so I bought a SIRICCO after watching your review , I love it , only thing I have a drama with.is the SUPAPEG 270 awning , being on my own is a bit of a handful tu put away , bit I'm sure with more experience I'll master it. Good to see you sck buddy😀.
The awning was garbage, the anti flap kits were garbage, the outside shower was garbage, the circuit breakers were garbage, it is too front heavy, towball weight is bullshit when loaded up for a trip. The hubs scrubbed out in less than a month and jawa wiped their hands of it even they they knew it was a common problem. The windows leaked because there is no silicone on the inside of them. The other window leaked because the silicone job behind the awning was terrible. The awning actually broke and Jawa wiped their hands of that as well. I was glad to get rid of it.

Sweet set up, im looking around for a camper trailer too to start the trailer life, i like these roof top tent carrying ones as opposed to the type that have the canvas that opens up as part of the trailer. Good to see ur back, bring back the live feeds 😂
They are not waterproof but if you have them vertical, they do stop a lot of rain coming in. They are light and great to keep the sun out. Up here in FNQ, they are a must. Yes new channel.

Not really mate. That was a standard size but Jan did put the buckles in the right spot for me just to keep the square shape when I peg it out.

Just got back from Tassie , hated it away 2 months for 6 fine days through NSW , VIC and TAS . Never again .
We're thinking of going down the hybrid van route ourselves . It'll be hard leaving the DOT though , I love it .
Make sure you got a GVM upgrade and good suspension if you tow one of those chinese hybrids mate. They are heavy.
We're looking at an Alpine 15 or 16 foot . Aussie made , expensive but we won't buy Chinese rubbish if we can help it mate .
