It has info on a significant event in military and/or intel history, a funny military joke, an update on a current event I'm following, something I'm doing that week in my life, a book I'm reading, a look at an upcoming interview, a reflection on a past episode and more!
Today we hear Round 1 of a two part Combat Story from seasoned fighter pilot Tom “Gunny” Moser who flew the F-15E Strike Eagle, served as a Squadron and Wing Weapons Officer, was a Fighter Weapons School graduate (akin to the Navy’s Top Gun), commanded a Squadron, and more.
In this episode, we follow Gunny’s circuitous route into the military first as a Marine 0311 (Infantryman), followed by a stint as a Police Officer, followed by a very decorated career in the Air Force.
Since retirement, Gunny has gone on to a career flying for the commercial airlines which we should all be grateful to know that we’ve got this seasoned combat aviator at the controls on our regular domestic flights!
Special thanks to former guest Ryan “Stinger” Fishel for helping us find Gunny!
And with that, please enjoy this first round discussion with someone who found his way to his dream job.

Ryan doesnt get enough credit for his pod ,so underrated
Something i’ve noticed about interviews with weapons school graduates is they almost never say: “ahhhh, errrrr, ummmm” clear and concise dissemination of information. It makes the interviews really easy to listen to and feels like it covers so much distance in a short time. 👌
intelligent individuals they are
Good catch, good point! Murder boards do that?
Yeah I know a retired airforce guy and he said they’re not allowed to whistle!
Amazing what a person can do with only one lifetime. Much respect, one love brother.
As someone who has recently gotten out of the Marines , in college, and has a deep interest in aviation, this was a perfect discussion.
I remember "Gunny" showing up at the WFFFFR fresh from the F-15E B-Course. Awesome Dude!
Audio was much better! Interviews are awesome, I watch all of them. Just pointing out that it is much better! Keep it up, Ryan, and thank you!
Agreed. Audio quality problems seem to be fixed. Thanks Ryan.
Oooo rah Marine! Applying to Delta right now. If you live on the Southside of ATL, Clayton County needs helo pilots (part time, non POST certified required). Guy that runs it is retired Marine General, Cobra Pilot and former American Air Lines guy. They’ll get you up to speed in the Bell 407.
Aw man. This video was so awesome I got upset that it was only 5 hrs old because I was hoping part #2 had already came out. Anyways, can't wait till the next video.
What a team; Tom and Mrs. Moser, what a team. "Only winners in this house." Another great vid, many insights to life, not just military. Thank you both.
What a great story of career changes but also consistent discipline and high achiement
Great interview, fellas. Learned a lot. Look forward to part 2! Cheers!
Fascinating life. One of my favorite episodes to date

OHIO PROUD!!!! Another Ohioan!!!
Great interview, Ryan. Keep up the good work. As Cold War Air Force, you can bet I'm tracking Russia and their sycophants at home.
You tell the wrong guy "horizontal or vertical" and your wife is getting a folded flag.
True. I’ve seen that kind of thing happen. All it takes is one guy with enough charges that he’s not going back to jail willingly.
From F-15 to cow wagons.... Wow
Can't believe they're getting rid of the A-10.......so stupid....
Found the subversive PLA AA gunner.
This dude has definitely smoked the pot at least
Great podcast as always Just a quick comment. There is no Arabian Gulf but there is a Persian Gulf though.

Great podcast, cannot stomach this guest though“I’m just a natural born protector “a natural born cop” this guy is so high on his own supply of bullshit it’s amazing. Any admiration I might’ve had for his service in the Armed Forces is completely lost listening to his blue bullshit.
@pwdrjnky Awesome comment! Please provide us the link of your interview so we can hear all the great things you accomplished in your life. Say what?! Oh, you are still on the couch...surprising.
