One important point that most people are missing while assessing Vande Bharat trains are as and when the track and infrastructure are improved, the same trains will run in higher speeds, about 180-200 kmph.

I have travelled with different Vande Bharat trains in AC Chair car, what I found is that in the beginning they used to serve delicious food in the varanasi route but as time passed they have deteriorated the food and is very pathetic now. Also the comfort level of the seats are very average and below Shatabdi trains.

Sir, broad Guage is not the standard used across many countries. Eu uses standard Guage which is around 1400mm, Russia's track width is around 1500mm and the broad Guage we use is 1636mm. This is used across Indian subcontinent as the railway lines were initially laid down by Britishers here.
Another fun fact is have you ever wondered how same trains from eastern Europe travel to Russia ? 😀

      Good point.
But the Standard Gauge 1435mm is widely gaining prominence across the global south and is used in 55% of all lines in the world, and also used by the Japanese Shinkansen HS bullet trains and French TGV HS trains, hence the good sir's mention that it is used across many countries.
There are for example three main gauges in Africa; the meter gauge 1000mm in most British former colonies, the Cape Gauge 1067mm in most of the German, French, Belgian, Portuguese and some British former colonies and the narrow gauges 600mm and below, in former Italian colonies. The Standard Gauge 1435mm is being applied in all new railway line construction across Africa e.g., the new Benguela line in Angola (old was Cape Gauge), Djibouti - Ethiopia (old was meter gauge), The central corridor in Tanzania - Rwanda (old was meter gauge), the northern corridor in Kenya - Uganda (old was meter gauge), the new Ivory Coast - Ghana - Nigeria (old was cape gauge), and the new High Speed lines in Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.
Broad gauges are only common in the ASEAN and some European countries including Eastern Europe.
Fun fact, only 36/54 African countries have active railways.

    1. VB trains are not operated by locomotoves. Every alternate coach is powered by electrical motors.. that means out of 16 coaches 8 coaches are powered. Therfore no locomotives are required.
    2. Indian railway system majorly have Broad Gauge (1676 mm) and most contries, specially european and our Metro trains lekin DMRC, LMRC use Standard gause (1435 mm)

Even the current Vande Bharath should have 4 to 6 sleeper coaches and run a distance of 800 to 1200 km in 8 to 12 Hrs so that 24 hour journeys can be covered in an overnight journey

The train was a good step in the right direction but still leaves a lot to be desired.
The quality has seriously deteriorated from the time it was launched. Poor quality food and charging port issues have cropped up now.
And the pricing was one issue that the Railways has addressed recently. I believe it would increase the seat occupancy in some popular routes where people still prefer to take cheaper Gatiman & Shatabdis.
A big part of the train's initial success was the marketing. Everyone read the 180 kph written in bold as a revolutionary moment.
However since the tracks are not designed for such higher speeds, the VB runs similar to other SF and premium trains like Gatiman, Tejas, Shatabdi etc at 130kph.
I hope we would see Semi-high speed tracks on major routes across the nation by 2030.

    • @turboed1337
      @turboed1337 Рік тому +3

Exactly what I want major educational social media influencers to focus on. The quality is no more better than shatabdi, in case of operation and arrangement it is actually worse. Economically speaking it is far more expensive and doesn't cater to wider public. The comfort of riding in CC seats is actually worse than shatabdi or other trains which does provide CC berths.
This is 21st century, It is of utmost importance that infrastructure actually functions the way they are marketed and not become a joke of service to brag about when someone asks us of we have any high speed railway.
It would be much much better if the tracks were first improved before launching the train. In some routes the train doesn't provide any significant improvement in journey duration and comfort over the regular shatabdi.
I really did wanted to experience high speed railway instead I experienced sub standard management relative to shatabdi.

Also any train set has a design life span of 30-35 years so it make sense to make overachieving train sets and workout the track limitations over time.
For example if we can eleminate the level crossings and impliment track fences the vande bharat can increase the operating speed easily that too on existing broad guage tracks insted of needing all new standard gauge tracks (as needed in case of actual bullet trains)

  • @HRHKamal

You state that a VB trainset is powered by 2 locomotives, each producing 3000 HP.
But a net search yielded the fact that in a VB trainset of 16 coaches, every other coach has a traction motor, ie 8 traction motor equipped coaches in a 16 coach trainset.
That conflicts your very explicit statement of 2 locos of 3000 HP each.
    Would you plz clarify?
And, on some tracks, VB has gone well beyond 160 kmph.

Maybe they could build a train network for America but our rail tracks are too poor. We have 1,00 train derailments a year but we do have plenty of money to send cluster bombs to Ukraine. The US military budget is not just $886 billion a year. If we include military money from other agencies it will be $1.510 trillion in 2024. This is according to the Office of Management and budget. A lot of military spending is in other agencies: Dept of Energy (nuclear weapons), CIA, DIA, State Dept, Treasury Dept and Veterans Affairs. I would include lots of NSA spending and Geospatial Intelligence as well. for more than $1.510 trillion!
