A week in NYC | Sandy Liang, Paloma Wool haul, MoMa Museum, Breakfast at Buvette..

This is the first vlog I've made in a while that's heavily centered around shopping and some of the pieces I've had my eye on for a while. I visited the Sandy Liang store for the first time, tried on shoes at Miu Miu, checked out the Chanel "sale" and also gave you guys a glimpse of some of my new pieces from Paloma Wool. Another one of my favorite pastimes would certainly be exploring new places around the city, whether it's trying a new place for breakfast like Buvette in West Village or dinner at Deux Chats in Brooklyn (my new favorite go-to spot!), visiting the MoMa Museum, stumbling into a new speakeasy (Ask for Janice) or working from one of my most frequented cafes (Land to Sea), I am never not left in awe about the endless hidden gems in the chaotic corners of New York City. I apologize if this is an odd question but I live in Brooklyn and actually in the same area which is predominantly white. The energy in the city has been super off to me. Did you feel it when you where here>? and how do you feel so comfortable in these very white spaces. I’ve been dealing with some anxiety in these places lately.

Hi! No apologies, not an odd question at all. Thank you for sharing/asking. For me personally, I grew up in a mixed race family (my mom’s side is biracial, dad’s side is Jamaican/American) so I think having that exposure from the start most definitely shaped my lens growing up and moving around and about in society. I was always taught to know that I belong wherever I want to be and that gave me the confidence to navigate any space, shaping my own experience regardless of who else is around - enjoying my own company or that of who I’m with. I also have a pretty diverse friend group comprised of black, white, hispanic and asian races, some of which also live in the area, so that helps too.
So while I don’t disagree that the area is predominantly white, I think knowing that you belong anywhere you desire to be and the community you build can help offset the apparent/minimize your anxieties and allow you to experience your surroundings in your own unique and positive way. Hope this helps! ♥️
