@@GastonRossato In the intro you guys were clearly on low suspension, that car will NEVER shake you like you were if the suspension is engaged. In the lowest setting there are only the bumps stops and tires for suspension. Great way to ruin a perfectly good car. I've owned these cars for decades, and would never do this, very bad for the car. You should know this car was not designed to 'look cool', function drove everything, so please respect that and put it on the normal setting, this is very upsetting to see. RTFM, it tells you not to do this!

@J Schroeder Transporting a DS requires strapping down the wheels, not the frame. I know of some DSs that have had the frame broken from improper strap downs. There is no way any DS will stay up on the highest position during transport, it's best to let it sit on the bottom. if the trip is short, say less than a hour, and the hydraulic system is in very good condition, you could leave it on the high cruise without too much concern, it would settle slowly. But high doesn't achieve anything really, and it will sink. I've seen an SM towed with it on high, to keep the rear up, and that seemed to be working fairly well, but I don't know if they stopped periodically to raise it back up. My SM left on high will sink down after a few hours, I'd have to replace the height correctors to get more time up, but in my decades of experience with these cars you cannot rely on the suspension staying up without the pump running. The rear does not sink as quickly, especially with the jacking lock bar raised, that does seem to help.

Very naughty to drive a DS on the lowest setting. The car is on the rubber bumpstops and your only give is in the tyres and bumpstops.
This setting is for changing tyres and servicing ONLY. You strain the car's structure when you drive on the street, and risk grinding out the rear bumpstops leaving metal to metal...

If that's a DS23 it has a 5-speed transmission. 5th is push forward (away from you) and up, it's above where reverse is. Check it, if not then this transmission is not original to the car, all manual DS23s had a 5 speed. The Citromatic remained at a 4 speed, so for cruising at highway speeds the 5 speed is desired. When exported in US in the lates 50, this car had no real success just because nobody was able to fix it, filling the brake system with lookhed instead of LHM fluid, for instance, and may be dammaging it cruising in low position. Totally stupid even for a while. Low position is the rest position. High level position is to climb obstacles at very reduce speed. You only appreciate the exceptionnal comfort of the suspension when cruising in normal position. This car can work on 3 wheels. This detail saved Pdt De Gaulle during an attack in 1962.

Fun wee video with some lovely shots. I'm assuming that this was made while you were still a new owner. These cars do polarise people for sure and those of us that love them can be broadly put into 2 groups. Those that continually learn about them, get every little detail perfect and treat them like trailer queens AND those that do the above but drive them they way they should be. I've owned 2 of these over the past 12 years and my current DS23 is undergoing a total restoration and I am still learning new things about the car. Sure other commenters are right - the car should be driven at speed on only the middle 3 height options but can be driven slowly on the lowest (9cm) and highest setting (24cm, I think) which is higher than some suv types. There is a lot of information that would be of interest to people that wasn't in the clip but maybe do another video a bit later and cover that information e.g. the manufacturing process required a far tighter tolerance than the standards of the day resulting in ramping up the precision of manufacture globally. Also the front fenders are removed using 1 more bolt (each) than the rear, but ancillary connections need to be disconnected which takes time. The suspension is self-adjusting regardless of the weight placed on it. I could go on...and on.. Nice work guys, you will have a lot of fun over the years with this car. be prepared to make a permanent space in your garage for it! LOL.

My '69 DS 19 Pallas was semi auto but no leather seats. However the cloth seats were better and more comfortable than a living room home sofa. The button brake was and is so much better than any other braking system. When driving and having to brake in other vehicles, the foot has to rise from the accelerator to get to the brake pedal before being able to depress it. With the DS button brake, the foot simply drops from the accelerator to the button and that split second can allow for much faster braking. The only problem can be is when the guy behind can't stop fast enough and he occupies your trunk.
Another great feature the vehicle had was the ability for the headlights to self level so when going up inclines the lights stayed on the road and not simply lighting the moonlit sky.
There are many other features also. Best car ever and it was sad when they stopped being imported to both the US and Canada in '73/74.

You missed a couple of important things on safety. In a head-on collision the engine is designed to slide below the driver and front passenger seats instead of crushing their legs. The spare wheel goes in front of the engine to provide a sort of buffer, as a crumple zone does. The steering shaft is designed to break way up front so the driver doesn't get impaled. The headlights are self levelling so you don't blind other vehicles when you are carrying a load. You can drive it on three wheels with one of the back wheels removed. In a front tyre blowout the car does not slew to the blowout side. Just to name a few... :) I doubt it is, but if it is still for sale let me know please.

There is no Citroen badge on the outside or the inside of the car, only the chassis plate has the word Citroen. On the rear trunk,it will have DS23, badge, and the C pillars has the word Pallas. The front doors are self closing. The hood is made of aluminium alloy, the roof is fiberglass and can be unbolted and removed.

This is not the most powerful engines of the DS with a carburettor. The most powerful is the IE with electronic fuel injection from Bosch with 130 hp.

A french, spanish licensed car in america and two men talking about how great its suspension is, of course, while driving it in its lowest position bouncing down the road, as it is the same as having no suspension................. Like repeating the "car's story" the way mr Leno did in an older video, but not knowing the car at all... Great video, poor car hahaha

Ils roulent en position basse et prétendent qu’elle est confortable alors qu’il n’y a pas de suspension dans cette position ! N’importe quoi.

Superbe exemplaire en tout cas. Très bonne ID pour le toit blanc.

If you drive (or sell) a DS, at least it might make sense to figure out how the suspension is supposed to work... Hint, DONT drive on low setting. Its painful to watch this.

AMERICANS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED WITHIN 20 MILES OF A DS CITROEN!. I was wondering why they were bouncing up and down then say they had it on the lowest suspension setting which is not for driving and means the suspension is on the bump stops.

"There's nothing else that looks like it."
There's nothing else that looks like the Anglerfish, either, but that doesn't mean it's beautiful.
The DS is unquestionably a great car. But it's not beautiful.
