The phase beam recharges shields, you don't have to go into the quick menu to use it, and the plus 50% recharge-rate upgrade from the anomaly is really all you need to never have to worry about your ship's shields again. You're going to have a significant stack of sodium in your exosuit inventory anyway (unless you're a madman) and it's not hard to find by any means. I don't see the point in setting up a farm for it just for that purpose. Save that ship inventory space and farm-building energy for more important shit...like nip-nip buds...more sweet, sweet nip-nip buds....kinda spaced out there for second. Good vid man.
to be fair, all I have to do is start blasting a few pirates and they start dropping starship shield batteries, which, fully recharge your shields and are relatively cheap to craft. I honestly often have more than a full stack setting around my ships and have to keep selling them because they rack up so quickly lol... This combined with the phase beam and any worries of needing to set up a farm instantly fade to nothingness :D As for the question of which ship is "better"...? that's all just personal preference since all ships save for living ships can install the same technology and by extension can get the same benefits from it. The only difference is in how you prefer to play. If you like having to deal with fewer cargo upgrades and want more shields, go hauler. Want to not ever craft launch fuel and be super maneuverable by default? grab a solar. Want to warp from one end of the known galaxy to the other in like 20 jumps? grab an explorer. Finally if pirate dreadnaught hunting the added damage of the fighter can't go amiss. For those who just like that jack of all trades you can go hunt exotics, and finally if you just wanna be different and use different resources to charge the tech, grab either a sentinel or living ship. Oh, added boost to sentinels is that they can hover so if you like to carpet bomb planets for resources that might make the decision for you.
Phase Beam is also hitscan, unlike other weapons which fire projectiles that can be dodged. My current setup has Cyclotron Ballista for slowing targets, Infra-Knife Accelerator for dealing damage, and Phase Beam for recharging shields, dealing with evasive targets and mining asteroids - seriously, for some reason it just feels the best for that.
@@clovernacknime6984 It's sentinel cannon (I like sentinel ships), infra-knife, and phase beam for me atm. All fully upgraded with S and X class upgrades. Sentinel cannon has a much higher fire-rate than photon, it's compatible with the same upgrades, and it works extremely well as an all-around weapon. Infra-knife for tearing shit to shreds when needed (especially in atmosphere), and phase beam for melting through enemy shields while recharging my own. Never really thought about using the phase beam for mining. Gonna try it. Thx.
I prefer the starborn Runner, it has the unique Photonix Core tech in it (the New Gold variant Starborn Phoenix comes without this tech btw) It has the ability to hover and is wipEout inspired. I love WipEout
Personally, and professionally, in my opinion the solar and sentinel ships are the best, mainly cause both have great speed while still being able to dish out a lot of damage
im new to the game and struck gold with the starborn phoenix. not sure if it might have "ruined" the ship upgrade aspect of the game for me but... people are giving me millions of units at the anomaly anyways so whatever ill just take it
There all the same, not much difference between the ships in how they fly, function, one of the biggest gripes about the game. All the ships feel to similar, besides the looks.
I've learned not to fret over a ship's base stats 'cause as you say, it really isn't a big deal. There are no bosses in the game that require superpowered weapons. The Infra-knife is great. Never use anything else, except maybe rockets to finish someone off for the fun of it. I don't care much about supercharged slots either. I might argue that the ships that can hover have an edge over the others, if that's something you find handy. I kind of like things that take longer to get, like the living ship and its tech. There aren't a lot of missions in the game really, and once you've done them, then what? It feels a little bit like I earned it if it takes a week or two or more to get something.

I had no clue trails and figures can boost stats. that's awsome!! thanks. you earned a sub today
You’re very welcome! I’m so glad I could help you discover something new, thank you so much for the sub I so greatly appreciate it 😁
Exotics are the best all rounders, interceptors best for planetary ops, solar best for hunting living frigates.
Must be a big fan of Scottish Rod rocking that beanie
Haha I’ve seen his videos but I visited Scotland awhile back and got this beanie while there.
Didn't expected it to be a face reveal 😅
my blue/silver Guppy exotic setup is virtually indistinguishable from the Starborn Runner in performance
The trail set up has changed with the Squid figurine

I've duped the photonix core and added them to my entire fleet

yeah Sentinel ship here just because I can stop & hover over the planet surface to look for what ever caught my eye while flying close to the surface
Titan A-Wing/Bulker Cockpit hauler named Let's Fighting Love

What is the first ship in the thumbnail?
My ship is king it Carry’s the best Siemens
you did not in fact put a link in the description

Modifiable is king.
They need totally new ships. Most people I have spoken to would even pay for them. The ships are mostly bad.
We need unlockable slots for more ships, 24-ish at least! 😢
I think it would be better if ships had a more defined role and unique tech. Not just different stats.

Great video shame about the Face

Hoverability is my goto but I do love my Living Ship
