Sorry but I am skipping the Benchmade portions of your weekly videos. They have hit their head and have began pricing their products out of my life. I could understand if they were special or cutting edge but they aren't so their loss. Thank you for giving us this show every week. Y'all really do a nice job. And thank you for showing us the products and not acting like a shady car salesman.
I've worked with Benchmade in the past (along with many of the other local PNW knife and tool companies up here)... they're a GARBAGE company and their quality is crap. The pricing is just the newest in a long line of idiocy at that trash company.
The loss of the recurve on the North Fork saddens me. Benchmade already has a bunch of drop points. At the ~$200 price point they're selling at, the knife should really stand out.
I love rosecraft and a button lock CRS is a great idea. IDK who makes them.. a new OEM. Light but too light, not a substantial build. The action is great bc the pivot won't sure up and has a mushy side to side movement. I had high hopes but had to return.
The Stahlwerk Cult V2 is a fantastic knife. The design is extremely cool and the quality is beyond reproach. In the most popular German knife blog, the quality was compared to Chris Reeve and the Cult was in no way inferior. I love my Cult V2. Greetings from Germany Gerd 😎🤘
@@acid6urns"my guy"? So what you're saying is it in fact does look like another Spyderco knife 😂 just like he said..... They don't change anything but materials
I kind of agree about spyderco's signature look. You either love it or hate it. I'm not a big fan of it in general but one design on theirs I really love the look is the Dragonfly 2. But there's no denying that they make excellent quality knives though. They're pretty much at the top of the game when it comes to quality, great quality control, and great performing blades that have a lot of thought put into their designs.
I wish Cold Steel would make an updated Cold Steel American LAWMAN with CPM-Magnacut stainless steel. But I am happy with my Cold Steel American LAWMAN with CMP-S35VN stainless steel.
God I wish Spyderco would do more ball bearing lock knives. I am a huge fan of their stuff but the compression lock is the least lefty friendly lock on the market and back locks are so antiquated
The price of some knives is just stratospheric,I am glad that there are some really excellent budget knives out there, that’s where my dollars will go,heck the benchmade 710 would cost $600 in my country,so that’s out of the question.anyway good job Thomas and DCA as usual!
It's just like the Shaman for some reason those models just cost soooo much more than other models with comparable materials within Spyderco's lineup I've never understood it with the Shaman and don't with the Bodacious either
Skipping the Bodacious. Flat handles/worse ergos, no fabulous choil, fewer clip mounts, bad price, and Spyderco's s30v is fine but too chippy for hard use. Cruwear or magnacut or lc200n much more appropriate and strong. Feels like a miss.
To DCA, Thomas, Seth, Heather in Customer Service, whoever has access to Eric and/or Sal Glesser: Please - PLEASE tell the Glessers to put Magnacut into that incredible looking and perfectly named Bodacious! I'll sign over a paycheck for a CPM-MagnaCut bladed Bodacious.
If you're talking about actual lock strength you're wrong they are stronger than most button locks Liner locks are used for a reason it isn't about price they simply offer the best opening action because they have a real detent. Frame locks are the same but with the downside of if you put pressure on that lockbar that blade ain't opening
Because they're easy to manufacture and the money they save on the lock they can use on better materials elsewhere in the design. Also the strength of lock styles isn't quite as important as they're made out to be since in most cases locks on EDC knives will never be tested anywhere near their breaking points.
You can always tell the real knife experts in the comments section- they’re the ones complaining about Benchmade. I’m sure they’re also on the car channels complaining about Mercedes.
Hey Benchmade, at least through in a clip with the sheath for your Overpriced tools for the few clients that you have or you’ll end up losing more then you already have💯
@@talisikid1618 i’m just saying that they charge more than they actually are worth. That’s all I’m saying. I’m not saying that they’re not good. It’s like Louis Vuitton. A Louis Vuitton bag cost about $500 but most of what you’re paying for is the name. If you take a Louis Vuitton bag out and you drag it behind a car and at the same time you drag a Maxpedition bag I guarantee you, the Louis Vuitton bag will come apart, probably 50 times faster than the other one. So as far as the utility goes, the bang for your buck just isn’t there. Doesn’t matter if you can afford it or not. Some people want to buy stuff just because of the name or some over inflated hype around a product and if you want to do that, that’s your prerogative. Not really. They're usually in the same price range but with Microtech you don't even know what kind of steel you're getting. With Microtech it's like you're buying blindfolded.

I think they’re being greedy and I don’t think they are anywhere near Chris Reeves quality, so I don’t think they should be asking for Chris Reeves pricing
Aluminum handle and s90v steel for $405 is insane. Not to mention their quality control is terrible. Last two Benchmade knives I got had blade wobble/rock and the other had a terrible edge
Agreed. For the price I feel they should be including at minimum a kydex sheath. There are many other blades on that price point that already come complete with leather or kydex.
The bodacious is an extremely appealing design but Spyderco's pricing makes no sense to me. The larger crucarta manix xl costs $40 less than s30v g10? The military 2, manix xl, and Yojumbo all larger, and in the same materials as the bodacious cost $50+ less. What am I missing?
I love RoseCraft's design language with their traditional line. Just waiting for the sweet spot for me...their slip joints are gorgeous and perfect except for the D2 (personally). This modern version is great with the M390, but it has lost much of the classic beauty of the slips. If they could just put a more stainless steel on the nice classic slip series, I'd feel tempted. Maybe this continued venture into the modern traditional spells good news in the future.
It's a shame that the Blackside Custom is so nice. I'd like to have a knife with a design, but I can't fathom ever being able to give my money to someone in collaboration with Mick Strider, a man who lied about military service in order to make money off of stolen valor. The fact that he's a violent felon is forgivable, even to one as conservative as I am. The fact that he lied about his military service in order to glorify his name as a knifemaker is absolutely not. I don't want to see him put in a rack or on a wheel, but I refuse to give any financial support to one who brings such disgrace to our country's uniform.
I really like the MKM Lov. I wish it was G10 instead of injection molded polymer, but I see it as a great alternative to many of the affordable lockback folding knives out there.

Ooh, the Benchmade Steep Country looks very nice, except for the orange bit on the sheath. Too bad they didn't just make it all OD, or at least OD/Coyote if they really wanted a dual color thing.
They have, they just prefer ripping off their brain dead boomer clientele. Benchmades entire business model is a ho hum product at an exorbitant price point, its the Mercedes/BMW of the knife world for people who want exclusivity via high price point, quality be damned.

Great looks, lightweight, deep carry clip, and a decent steel. It's just all win. Fun little observation: the MKM LOV texture pattern on the scales is the same design (but in monochrome) as the infamous carpeting from the Overlook Hotel in Stanley Kubrick's 'The Shining'.
I received my Tenable Nesstreet and was AMAZED with what a tremendous bargain it is for the money! Sadly, I now need to order another because my friend loved it so much I gave it to him. Oh well. He's a great friend, and it's well worth double the price for what I got from that knife.
In the Dutch movie Character (1998) a knife that looks very much like the Buck 110 plays a large part. Was there such a folding knife--wood, brass, with a back lock--in Holland in 1920s?
Benchmade is a joke... a terrible, overpriced, poorly made joke. I was however pleasantly surprised to FINALLY see my pre-ordered Crucarta Manix 2XL show up so that's cool.

I'm not much of a recurve fan but I completely agree. The original North Fork blade shape made the knife stand out.
Such a missed opportunity on that RoseCraft button lock would have been an awesome knife had they put a flipper tab on it
