This song doesn't get enough recognition. It's my favorite song of all time. I litterally study this from a formulatic sense. Why doesn't Moby do more songs like this where he uses his own instrumentation and voice? He's one hell of a musician!
I think I recall the video winning a VMA that year. Yet, I was surprised because it got very little play. I would stay up all night waiting for it to air, lol.
Hate to be a buzz killer but not even close to fantastic, mediocre maybe.. Just a few basic chords then a solo with a wah pedal playing a basic pentatonic scale solo all on the same chord... however, an excellent all around musician, performer, and song righter.
He really is I saw him at the Greek and the show was amazing …His lighting tech did the light show on the trees and I’ve never seen a light so beautiful. That’s the kinda person who I would hire for a light show!
This is such an amazing live version. Says a lot about Moby that he has the same band touring with him for years. I wish he would perform this live for Earth Day or World Aids Day. Such a deceptively not so simple song with very prescient lyrics.
wow... i never knew moby was such an excellent guitar player.... this is amazing. excellent. does he still tour??? just look how everyone is having so much fun too! this is amazing.
This gave me goosebumps. Reminded me of watching you perform live at circle v. One of the best experiences of my life. You’re by far the best live performer I have ever seen. Thank you for all that you do.
I'm a 100 percent metal fan threw and threw I also heard this live many years ago live on a TV show and it stuck with me I really like it very few songs actually stick with me anymore but the ones I remember takes me back to a time when things were easier and gas wasn't 5 a gallon
well, it may sound weird, but although I listen to bands like Death (R.I.P. Chuck, you were the best, and will always be), Fear Factory, Carcass, etc. most of the time, I was struck by Moby since the first day I heard one of his songs (Into The Blue, from the Everything Is Wrong album). I couldn't understand how can that be, I was in awe, and couldn't stop listening to his album on my Walkman (yeah, I am old). and then he released Play, and from that day it has been the best album ever created (IMHO). yeah, Death is (or rather, sadly, was) the best band ever (again, IMHO), and their Symbolic album is the pinnacle of virtuosity, but Play... that is something out of this world. they even used it in the X-Files, which I am a huge fan of. and South Side is a song, that gives me goosebumps every time i listen to it. as before, I can't explain why, it is just so powerful. honestly, this album (and song) has changed my life. for the better. so thank you, Moby..

De mis favoritas de todos los tiempos 3:51
He needs to make more songs like this, songs to get high to lol
I just heard this song about 3 days ago and I’ve played it about 5 times each day and I ain’t never gonna stop
this song got plenty of recognition ya just over 20 yrs to late.Every club in NYC had versions of this song going for years

I dont know who she is. But she is clearly imitating Gwen Stefani in pitch and inflection.
@@sideskroll Nope. She's showing Gwen how the vocals should've been done.
BEST live version of it
I was at this concert! Thanks for bringing back that memory.
Great song, great performance! All these years later, still holds up. Well done, Moby et al.
But the crowd is dead... sad. How can you not dance to such a massive sound.
Gained tons more respect when I found out Moby plays the guitar parts , and Reggie Watts is his violinist

Me too my friend
God no... Moby is right. Gwen Stefani ruined the original.
@@MrSmith-zy2bp Did he say that?
Not a bad stand-in for Stefani, not at all!
And she's got that kind'a spacey-yet-cocky stage presence, too haha
Very, very cool!
Yep spacey and haughty, at least that's the projected persona

muy buena cancion
No Gwen...... probably since she changed so much. But Skylar nailed it with those high notes.
The Skylar Grey's audio voice are low or the instruments are loudly?
