We just got back from visiting New Orleans. We had the opportunity to visit Jean LaFitte's pub! I think they said it's the okdest continuosly operting pub in America, if not the world. It's been around since the 1700s, and it has a true English pub look about itself. There is a massive stone fireplace in there, and LaFitte's disembodied head is often spotted just floating in there 👻😬 We took photos, but no luck seeing him. It was amazing to step into history though, and see the story behind a Haunted Mansion character! Happy Halloween 🎃, everyone!
I still stand by my theory that there are two Master Graceys; Master Gracey the owner of the mansion, and Young Master Gracey his younger relative who is the Ghost Host. "Master" was at one point the proper title for an unmarried young lord, after all
I love watching Dallin getting more creative with video editing & production…it adds even more personality to his videos and makes them even more enjoyable to watch! also definitely wanting to go back and watch all his videos to try to figure out this kermit/old mickey arg(?)…
4:38 Did you know about the Phantom Manor Decrypted book sold in Disneyland Paris? Page 26 has this piece of concept art and others by Harper Goff. It was indeed used for inspiration.
The figure on the last concept art looks a little bit like creature that pulled the Phantom Cruise Line during 2003/2004 Halloween season in Disney Land Paris.
Disneyland Haunted Mansion ride is the best of the best.... Also, Disneyland is the best park, it may not be the biggest or the newest but it's the only park where Walt's footsteps can be followed, maybe even his sprit --- his sprit probably hangs out at the apartment above the firehouse and goes out at night to make sure the maintenance crews and grounds keepers are doing a good job for the next day's visitors......
I think Disney World is better than Disneyland cause there's way more to do there! However, I'd love to go to Disneyland and DCA one day!! Mainly to see what changes there are!
I’ll be honest, I DO NOT like the phantom manor refurb. It just doesn’t sit right like they were doing too much. I thought that it was better when it was more subtle
Weird idea: how many happy haunts are variants of each other? Going between different points in the fluid and every shifting continuity of the haunted mansion (and whatever else it might be called) how many different characters/ghosts can you get into a chain of “I’m you from another universe/timeline”?
Always love your Haunted Mansion videos👻 looks like that creepy ghost with the green face at the end could’ve inspired the design for the horned king🫣🤔
I love that book. A good read. I’m an aspiring art installation creator for festivals & stagecraft person, I love the haunted and also this channel for their contribution and influence on immersive art.
14:18. Um, such a fan of the HM should recognize this as one of the "whisps" that comes out of the organ pipes in the ballroom and in a slightly different form populate sections of the graveyard.
13:25 I know the movies are there own thing, but in both movies master gracey has looked very similar is it safe at this point that likely the general look of master gracey since two movies have kinda had him look like that?
I'm still mad there's no nightmare before Christmas overlay in the Florida haunted mansion! You'd think they would add it for the 50th anniversary but no!
@@kdusel1991I’m a bit late to the party But I think the reason that Florida never got HMH is because of the demographics of who visit each of the American Disney parks Disney world for many people is a once in a lifetime experience, having an overlay on a ride would potentially disappoint guests, plus WDW Has 3 other parks for people to go to Disneyland is more of a local park for many people who go there, the overlay keeps people coming back during special seasons
Until just today, I always thought the "...find a way out! Of course, there's always my way" line was referring to a threat. As if the Ghost Host himself hadn't actually chosen suicide as a way out, but was threatening to hang us, the guests, in the rafters. Or else, drop us from an unimaginable height onto the roof. I've ridden The Haunted Mansion countless times, but I never put two and two together like that! It changes the character of the Ghost Host for me entirely. To imply that he would actually hang the guests paints the Ghost Host in a much more sinister light--er, darkness. But knowing that he was the man in the rafters implies that he was the one who went mad trying to escape the stretching room, or the mansion altogether. In doing so, he became the most well-acquainted with the Mansion and its spirits, which could be why he hosts the tour altogether--to suggest that being haunted (or that death itself) is nothing to be afraid of!
That gate in between the armour, that is a type of Portcullis these were used for castle gates, off limits to anyone besides the ruler of the castle (think his study and his man cave) and prisons. The way they open for smaller doors like there is two sets one set moved up, the other down. I think they have been in Indiana Jones like movies but they were middle ages primarily.
A raven is definitely a more "New Orleans vibe" or a big black crow i can never remember. I was in my early20s during the Adventurers club functioning days and Imo it's canon
Omg as a lifelong recovered Catholic, I would pay good $ for the "Disney's the Catholic experience " omfg. It would probably be preeetty dern popular i beleive there ( have been historically at least) a lot of Catholics in France
Side note wouldn’t it be a cool idea if we had an alternative universe where “Mickey Mouse Park” was or still was a legit thing instead of Disneyland? How different the possibilities would be compared to the Disney parks we have today perhaps! As for the church part of the original concept art that Walt had planned for a haunted house attraction, best guess, it’s probably like maybe a preshow. Maybe it could’ve been like a short story about what the house was and is and who lived in it and the sorts? Having a priest or groundskeeper or something there warning you not to go there perhaps even telling a tale about the house itself? There’s lots of possibilities I can think of that the church could’ve been if the original concept artwork was exactly what the ride or attraction would be.
Hey Offhand - have you seen the new commercial for Disneyland Christmas? They use the Skyway buckets from the 90's, thought you might find that interesting. I live in California so I thought it might just be running here. Man it is bugging me that they would use a ride vehicle that no longer exists to promote their Christmas season.
As someone who grew up in the Catholic church, I cackled particularly loudly at the idea of a special pass to get a Catholic experience! 😂 They'd probably have levels to! Basic/Standard experience you get "baptized", the "Premium" experience you get "baptized" as well as "Communion", and the "Deluxe" experience you get "baptized", "Communion", "Confirmation" and you'll get to sit front row for High Mass where you'll receive a blessing from "The Pope". 🤣 Of course each tier will have the "priests" and "nuns" giving you Catholic Guilt Trips about how "horrible" and how you're a "sinner" for not adhereing the the rigid Catholic ideals.
Petition to bring back those weird floaty head wisp things.
Bring them back!
YES BRING THEM BACK
I have very vivid memories of them from when i was little. Not sure why they even caught my attention as a child
Hi hi
I love those first images, they look very Shel Silverstein-esque!

The tiger rug attacking is so fun!

New Offhand Disney video…now it feels like Halloween!
OH MY GOD HE’S GOT THE 11TH DOCTOR’S SCREWDRIVER
I always wondered where you'd find these pieces of concept art, thank you for sharing the book. Ordered it immediately.
Your Disneyland content is top notch, but you take it to a whole other level when it comes to Haunted Mansion related topics
Happy Halloween!!
The figure on the last concept art looks a little bit like creature that pulled the Phantom Cruise Line during 2003/2004 Halloween season in Disney Land Paris.
New Dallin lore just dropped
I absolutely love that concept piece with Madame Z and the Vampurr ie the flying cat. And the gator, gotta love the gator.
Amazing!
14:18 those look like "Ghost Loads" 🤣😅
I will dutifully tune in to every Haunted Mansion video released by Offhand Disney.
2:26 makes me happily laugh. It looks like he's filming himself. It's so fits with the universe he's created.
Edit for spelling
Loving the Haunted Mansion content! Not sure if you're a gamer, but it might be neat to see you cover Disney dreamlight valley!
I'm not a gamer...but I've watched all the Disney kingdom hearts and would watch that too!
I love Halloween. I feel it in the air. It’s time. This video adds to the spookiness!
Excited to see you on For Your Amusement this week!
Love seeing the DESERVED love for Phantom Manor
I'm super excited to see you on the podcast.
NEW HALLOWEEN SPECIAL YOOOO
Love this haunted mansion video offhand Disney and keep it up dude.
Rolly crump's book also has some cool design ideas that he did. Really good book
Thx for the book idea!
The Disney videos are cool and all…but I’m here for the Dalinverse

I gotta say I agree! I especially loathe how they made Mehlanie into another black widow bride.
Specially turning Melanie into a boyfriends collector!

6:30 no one can ever talk about phantom Manor too much
I love that book. A good read.

Jean Lafitte.
14:18. Um, such a fan of the HM should recognize this as one of the "whisps" that comes out of the organ pipes in the ballroom and in a slightly different form populate sections of the graveyard.
Disney needs by to bring back the little gag with the hunter and tiger. It is so funny and I think all of the true Disney fans will enjoy it
13:25
I know the movies are there own thing, but in both movies master gracey has looked very similar is it safe at this point that likely the general look of master gracey since two movies have kinda had him look like that?
This Is Random But I Really Wanted To See A Muppets Overlay On The Haunted Mansion Ever Since The Special They Made
I'm still mad there's no nightmare before Christmas overlay in the Florida haunted mansion! You'd think they would add it for the 50th anniversary but no!

Buckling swashes is so 1800s.
We use Velcro these days.

The mask is cool! 💀
Let's begin with
"To all who come to this happy place-welcome" - Walt Disney ,1955
3:35 Confirmation that Dallin was raised Catholic! (Does it matter? Nope! The reference made me smile!)
That’s a fantastic sonic!
21:19 when he opened the door my AirPods made it sound like someone came inside my house💀
great video, extremely informative 🎉
Offhand how have you not made an entire SEA video in response to the Haunted Mansion coming to the Disney Cruise line
Offhand Disney just having a death eater as a roommate
What happens at like the 17:20 minutes mark under your arm? It was almost like a word discolored shadow
The Dolanverse grows
If said swash bucking was never observed than it never occurred.
This was cool! Ta!
Oh, and It's a gate by the way, check out Long Forgotten, he goes into it a couple of times.
You need to put all the haunted mansion vids in a playlist
My favorite piece of concept art is the skeleton in the spider web.
#Dallinverse
Hey Offhand Disney... Big Pirate News.. Jean LaFitte is mentioned in the new season of Behind the Attraction... Disney is watching you.
Happy Hloen ! 🎃
"Where are the stories?" Well, perhaps look in a chest that is older than that pristine one. LOL~

I love the haunted mansion Ive seen all of your videos. It’s my favourite ride after rock n roll a coaster
who is the new dallin variant 😧
Me, being raised Catholic, finds that “Catholic Experience” day pass extra funny for some reason😂😂😂

I have that book, I love it , the cover glows in the dark
I've been so busy, what video does this multiple Dallin universe start?
20:45 I actually have thay book.
Funny you mention the book cause I literally just bought it 🤣
Would you consider doing a video talking about the legends of any 'real' ghosts that are supposed to haunt the parks?
The old MGM horror flick (see? Universal wasn't the only game in spooks then!) THE HAUNTING inspired a lot of this,in 1963.

Yeah I've seen that commercial and I thought it was really weird too. Kinda like they were promoting a ride that no longer exists.
Only offhand would know what's up...right?
epic

Cooll
