Good grief. Cannot the National Theatre do someone other than Shakespeare? Perhaps all their productions in modern dress are a way to keep the audience interested in what are the most tedious of dramas. Audiences do not want to be taught or extended; they want to be entertained, with no thought. Could not the NT do a nice Neil Simon?
