- In this second part of the Hurricane build series we get the wing box and undercarriage bay together then move on to wing assembly, but not before some small mods. If you would like to contribute to the channel.. please look here.. / nigelsmodellingbench
That's a great photo of you and Jess!
I bloody love this channel, it's first class!!!
Thank you very much Phil.
I just received my wingnut wings kits from Andy’s hobby headquarters i picked them up at the store rather than having them shipped I didn’t want to risk box damage your videos on wnw model kits helped greatly with my purchases thank you
Nice, oh that Mig superglue splattering phenomenon... could be surface tension, as it starts to set from outside in... when you disturb the surface tension by touching it with your looper you get an elasticity effect (like the skinning when milk is heated a tad too much), the elastic surface tension then 'snaps' causing the still gooey bits to explode.. well that's how I explain it anyway!
Those actuator struts that push the wheels inwards during retraction, they actually go through a small space in that front area and then attach to the top of landing gear via a hinged mechanism.. hard to see anyway. References I've seen also show the landing light mounts are cockpit green with black or gun metal lens grilles.. some are indeed painted silver.. but that could be a restore bird effect..
Compared to the Fly model Hurricane those wing to fuselage joins are positively Tamiya! The Fly model is a real challenge compare to this - though it has its own challenges! Looking great so far!
Yeah I know about the actuators now thanks Nazid. I have finished the kit now. Part 6, the end, will be up on Monday night at 9pm UK time.
Your work on the wings was very insightful. The way you superglued those parts.
Thank you! Cheers!
Very nice..looking forward to the Sea Hurricane IB
Great video my friend the hurricane is looking fantastic it’s so important to keep test fitting and you demonstrate it well the detail looks amazing and looks like a great fitting kit nice to watch you and Paul building them thanks for sharing 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it Rob.
Love your starting picture.
Mr Allen Sjoquist does these for me.
Splendid job on the wings Nige, looking forward to part 3
Really enjoying this build Nige, I've got my cockpit finished and ready to install in the fuselage. Following your progress is invaluable mate, it gives us so much good advice. Looking forward to part 3 mate!
Looking good Nigel... Just to let you know I have nearly finished my Takom Jeep... lovely kit
Nice 👍
Really nice job on the wings and wheel bays Nigel. Patience and test fitting never fail to produce the best results. Looking forward to the next part. Cheers mate, woof to Jess.
Thanks 👍
@@NigelsModellingBench are the masks re-useable? or just a one use only thing?
The graphic at the start was excellent, the next one should be you in the cockpit ! Other than that , fine building again !
another great video love the pic of you and jess keep up the great work
Thank you! Will do!
Nige, I had exactly the same issues with the Mig Black Cyano 2 as you did with loads of blacks dots not only on the model but also on the cutting mat. Not sure if it is from the applicator we use but I gave up and will buy the VMS black CCA. Madding for sure. Nice work on resolving the gear box issues/fit.
looking good
Thank you! Cheers!
That really is a nice little kit. I have put it on my ever expanding list. Gatefold paper anyone? ;). Ian
If I used a burr like that I would go right through 😂
Care is needed Paul..
Love it.
Hello Nigel. I am not very experienced with model making although I have done it since my teens (now in my retirement). Enjoying your videos.
I am wondering what grade of Mr Surfacer you use for the gap filling part of the build. I see our local suppliers here in Auckland NZ have 500, 1000, and 1200. I have the same kit as you made here purchased for NZ$99 so I am quite pleased with that. I also got some of the extra thin quick setting Tamiya glue you recommended and am finding this a great help. Next thing I have to source locally is some sort of oil wash. Choices seem very limited. Was wondering about the SMS variety we can get here.
I always recommend getting 1000 for all round work.
Hi Nige, this video has that kind of stop motion look to it that iirc you had once before?
Anyone else seeing it?
I know.. YT playing up again I think?
I'm seeing the same effect. Thought there was something wrong with my PC for a moment.
Great video as always Nigel. FYI frame rate seems really slow. Quite jerky. I’ll try again later and hopefully it will be better.
I know.. YT playing up again I think?
I’m using the Mig Ammo black ca as I couldn’t get the vms anywhere.I too have noticed it jump in my case from a wooden cocktail stick to spatter on the model and leave whip like lines. I pour the ca onto a small disc of foil that adheres to a small marble disc, like a mini coaster as the foil peels off when done and any spread onto the marble can be taken off with a blade. It is definitely either a negative charge or a static build up but as it is being put on from a wooden cocktail stick I am not sure it can be static. Perhaps I need to brush everything with a anti static brush?
Thanks Mark. Not just me then. The glue must be charged??
There is an issue with the playback on this video I'm afraid. I cannot do anything about this now I'm afraid as the original has been deleted.
Enjoying this build very much, and tips along the way. Quick question if I may, I have masked up canopy, what is best practice...fix before or after painting the body? 1/48 ms109. Thanks.
The windscreen before, the canopy after if it is to be opened.
@@NigelsModellingBench thank you.
You said you only use extra thin on clear parts.. have you never had a problem with fogging?
I've been worried to use it .
No, never.
flood the cowling... plenty of it.
Would you use Molotov chrome for the lights?
Yes, if I had some lol.
just finish that bloody lancaster!
On it!!
@@NigelsModellingBench 😁
Hi Nigel, is there something wrong with the playback speed. It doesn’t look or sound quite right?
I know.. YT playing up again I think?
Which clamps do I see at 19:25 (manufacturer, model)? Can you tell me where to buy these?
Rebell model of Sweden. I did a review of them a couple of years ago.
Rebel model, there is a link on Scalemates
