Ah, Fairview. Recorded here in 89/90 with Danny Shackleton engineering. Great place, great vibes and funnily enough, met Bill one day as we were collecting some kit from the previous day’s session. He was a humble, wonderfully gracious fellow and is still one of my all time favourite musicians.
I recorded here with a band called Black Rose in 1986 and was definitely the best studio experience I've had. John really pushed me on a couple of tracks I wasn't getting what I wanted. I remember after he'd tweaked the amp, my tone was like Jake E Lee and that inspired me. All the old stuff is on cassettes and the tape has now stated to pack in. I transferred the demo to digital mp3 just so as not to lose it but it's a hard listen. Excellent studio.
Exceptional eccentric ARTIST..Odd themes as Bowie was to..Bills seems some claim Gnostic...But whatever he's a drifter amongst music scene follows the visions of his own muse!As an artist exceptional and interesting!
It's the track Playbox which Bill recorded for the Fairview @ 50 anniversary cd.....available here...www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173075974694?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
I love this mans music ilive in micklefield nr Selby and am a bit younger than bill/my first album was axe victim/and since then its obvious/thanks bill
I'd be very happy if Bill produced me; Channel light and Culturemix where par excellent .I have all the CDs Crimsworth cd I also have! Crimsworth was an odd one... Practically Wired was pretty damn good ...for a 10 day album which shows Bills talent as a guitarist...After Satellite sings one of my faves to!
Sadly the music "business" is not run by people like Bill who know what they are talking about ...its run by idiots sadly many good Artists are lost that way... Some idiot telling them what's good and bad. And in a way Bill was lost that way..in today's music he's not mentioned at all..But for those of us who know he never went away
Not to mention how Bill was stitched up by EMI. He's still waiting for royalties from the Bebop and Red Noise albums. No wonder he feels bitter about the music industry.
... This man (Bill Nelson) is a living legend, and a prolific and original recording artist and performer, par excellence. Wonderful.
Recorded our first EP at Fairview in 1982. Great experience.
Which band would that have been Phil?

I love the Channel Light Vessel CD's. Been a Bill Nelson fan for over 45 years. Quite an incredible musical journey over all these years.

I remember Black Rose Chris. I'm glad you enjoyed the experience...that's what recording should be like! :-)
I have BeBop albums CDs and most all Bills solo projects and other bands he worked with as well as produced
To date I haven't heard a poor/bad record from Bill, his album with Reeves Gabrels - Fantastic guitars' is brilliant...........

Anyone know what the music is playing in the background? Doesn't really sound like BN.
