Hi Zanele...thank you for the video. As a SHE Rep in my workplace i will share some of the challenges i face.
    1. Our collegues tend to not respect us especially when one tries to correct a behaviour that violates the safety standards.
    2. Most people think being a SHE REP is useless in a sense that all you do is doing the inspections and nothing else. The work that goes behind equiping yourself in understanding SHE issues and presenting them to management and at times getting into a heated debate with management simply because either theres misunderstanding on their side or they just do not want to spend in fixing whatever that is meant to protect employes, property or equipments.
    3. Lol ok i might get into trouble with this...but one of the challenges i face as a she rep is that some of our leaders are not really clued up or have deeper understanding about all the SHE issues as well as their requirements...i remember suggesting that the machine guards in some of our pumps needs to be fixed in that they must be removed using a tool e.g spanner. So that it is known that whoever removed it had an intention of removing it. The ones we had was just metal sheet that were balanced by some of the pump bolt. So due to vibration they would move and expose the moving parts...i was told that this has always been like that for years, why must it change now...but luckily everntually they made them fixed.
    3. When i facilitate toolbox talks. I normally do research and bring in content that is very rich and eye opening. Mxm ah lol the fact that it is me, their collegues who is in the same level as them, etc. They never take one serious. Guess this is because they do not know the amount invested in coming up with the content of the topic in question.
    4. Little to no understanding on what the purpose of the audits are. I do not know how many times do i explain this to some of the supervisors, and how this, if audits are not done, can impact negativelu on them in as far vacarious liabilty is concern.
    5. Ok i would like to stop here...some stories will be shared as the series of OHS act vidz continues lol

Jonas I can tell you are very passionate about health and safety! Interesting though, is that the challenges you share, are more common than not across various sectors. This is why we need more people like you to continue to drive up the engagement and ensure we educate people about the importance of Safety.
It would be terrible for people to learn only when things have gone wrong - or even worse, a fatality!
      DONT STOP!!

Very true Zane!!!! So, see ukuthi your videos on Leadership and Safety...actually everything leans on Leadership😀...hence i always make it a point i see every video you upload.
And yes we need to continue educating people about the importance of health and safety. I bought a book titled "one minute safety manager" by ken annadale. Where he shares a story of a woman who happened to work in a printing press whose safety guard/ interlock had been by passed...infortunately she got injured, her fingers were cut off which then made it difficult for her to continue doing the side hustle she was doing back at home after work...so in short. If we get injured at work, those who depend on us gets affeced by that. So we ought to work safe not only for ourselves or the company but for those who depends on us.

Hi Zanele I was wondering if you have any insight on the training courses provided at NOSA especially with Intro to OHS Act and how they assess their students.
    Thank You
