This gave me just the ‘umph’ I needed to start tweaking my .177 Marauder :). I’m using the 16.1 gr JSB Beasts and I was getting decent groups at 50 yards, but I could tell there was more available. I opened my metering valve about half a turn (total opened 1 3/4 turns from closed) and decreased the hammer spring tension about half a turn, now I’m stacking those Beasts every time at 20 yards and I’ve gotten down to 3/4” at 50 yards - very happy camper now. Thanks!
Hi Joe, that tuning is solid. I have a 22 Marauder and hit a small stump and saw the impact, what a difference. My gauge was leaking and took the whole gun apart. So your tuning was a big help as I didn’t want to buy a meter. Thank You.!
This is an excellent resource. Just making these fine tune adjustments on my factory .25 Marauder raised my velocity by over 70fps! Next I plan on doing the transfer point mod and that should put her right were I want her. Thanks so much for this video!
Man the least I can do is subscribe to your channel...your video was so detailed I did exactly how you explained and my new marauder .22 went from store/manufacturer mode to hell mode holy crap
@ctjetskiclub772 thank you very much! I really appreciate the comment and having you as a new subscriber. That is what I like to know when people use this video to tune their Marauder. What speeds and with what projectile were you getting before and after the tune?
@Monkeydad1969 I don't have a chronograph but will be getting one this week but I have the swinging metal targets and before it was smacking them and they would move 5/6 inches on the swivel now they going completely around smacking twice as hard and this is a new marauder I just bought this week stock from manufacturer
@Monkeydad1969 hey buddy the only thing I did notice is when I did the 4 and half turns out for the transfer port screw when I re insert the jam screw I have to leave it loose like flush to the hole because if I keep screwing the jam screw in it will screw the transfer port screw down with it and will go to the bottom ...is that normal like the screw does not tight together with the transfer port screw.
@@ctjetskiclub772 put the velocity adjuster screw where you want it, then blue loctite the jam screw. Just butt it up to the velocity adjuster screw. That should fix that.
Hey I just like to say thank you for the marauder tune I got home and I was able to tune my Marauder 25 caliber the way you tune yours and the velocity went with a 26 grain pellet Predator polymag pellet I was getting 818 and that was kind of giving me around 37 ft lb now with your tune it jumped it up from 8:18 to 8:53 nearly across a 24 shot stream I think it the last shot it was it 848 so now I'm getting 40 to foot pounds so I went from 37 to 42 thank you very much
Awesome and prefectly explained video. Had to subscribe after watching and listening to you. I'm going to be doing this to my .22 Marauder that's almost brand new, but waiting for my new handier (because of size) Garmin Chrono to get here first to get some before and after velocity numbers with it. (I've been in the shooting sports industry for 40+ years from a sponsered factory shooter in the early '90s, to live fire testing/engineering dept at Leupold, to testing writing for Barnes, to working for Nosler, .... but now getting so hooked on the air rifle aspect of the game now. (I'm sure within a very short time the FX Impact and other "items" will be things I can't live without.) Loving the freshness of the air gun thing since I don't see it as part of my work life. (Even though it really is.) This is going to be a good time! Keep this great content going. Great info with a perfect pace. Well done!!
Thank you very much for the kind words. I, too, am in the industry... airgun ammo. I use to be a trainer, so it came pretty natural. Yeah, airguns are a very deep hole. Welcome to the addiction.
I've watched so many tuning videos. Nobody has hit on every point the you hit on. I had no idea how important the transport port was for velocity nobody really explained how important that was they would just glaze over it or say you wanna back it out a little bit that's it that's all they'd say. Thank you good video 3
Hey Jayson. Thanks a lot for that. I was asked by a FB bud to do a vid, but I wanted to put it out there for other M-Rod owners. I too had the same issue with trying to find a good tutorial vid. So I really hope it helped you.
the same here.. my .25 was underpowered shit from the factory where I couldnt hit shit at 100 yd and now after playing around with the setting I am getting around 2 inch groups at 100 yd what is in my eyes insane.. never had anything anywhere near close to this performance and considering its like cheap marauder a good bang for the buck and not some FX stuff I am really amazed
Thanks you are a lifesaver I have bean trying to find out how to tune my Armada witch is the same as the Marauder . Now I can shout out to 200 yards with the relater seat at 2400 psi . Thanks for the no non cents Video. Roy
What a great video! I am new to the PCP world and we appear to have the same philosophy -- Shoot with lots of power and FPE. I have a Benjamin Marauder .177 Gen 2 and the AirForce Escape in a .25 cal. I will be surfing your channel to glean as much info as possible. Thanks again!
Thanks Mark. Yeah, I'm the worse at putting out vids. But I will have some coming out soon. Mostly catch up from vids past. I have a couple builds that should be finished soon and I love my .25 Escape and .257 Escape. I like power but I'm really into getting power with minimal air usage and a good shot count. I've started to do less psi fills and getting serious power. That's especially true of my .25 Escape. 2400-2600psi fill, 30 shots with a lot of power and I haven't touched the power wheel. It's set on the lowest setting. Tuning is key and a chrony is essential.
Very good description and demonstration of what works... just picked up a 25 cal Gen 2 Amazon return cheap and started messing with it. I have already installed a huma reg and a twin hammer spring in it, so now on to the valve!
@@Monkeydad1969 I opened it up a good 6, maybe 7 turns and installed a twin spring system to help with hammer bounce. Right now I am not real happy with the setup. When I got the rifle. I could get 32 usable shots at 30 yards doing about 800 fps. After doing all the install and opening the
@@Monkeydad1969 Can you give me any tip on how I could check the velocity/power without a chrony? Shooting at plywood from a certain distance and measuring the penetration doesn't feel very professional but I don't have a better idea at the moment.
@@bencematyasmarton559 that's a hard question to answer. The only thing I can say is shoot at the board first, measure the penetration. Then tune your rifle for more power, shoot at the board again and measure that penetration. Having a chronograph is imperative to rifle tuning. I do understand, not everyone has one. It's another cost. Also, depending on what projectile you're shooting, the penetration into the board may not show any difference between a non tuned and tuned air rifle. If you're getting over a quarter inch of penetration then you're probably doing fine with the power. Accuracy trumps all regardless of power.
Thank you for a great video. Alot of great guidance. I will definitely be following this when I get my marauder up and going. As with all my airguns maximum power and accuracy are #1.
Thanks Ian. I'll be the first to tell you that I suck at putting out or even doing vids. But I do have plans to put another vid or two out soon. Again thank you for your comment.
@@Monkeydad1969 ок, but I am Russian, so sorry about my future language. In Russia we have some very good air guns, you can also buy it here, but they more expensive. for example Ataman, Leshiy. But they are really powerful 💪🏻 It will be my next rifle😀
Your going to laugh, I did exactly what you said and cracked to stem. Haha I was so frustrated, but, but you forced me to open the gun up and clean the whole thing which I thank you for. I was deathly afraid of taking it apart, because I am always missing something when I put something together. I think what I’ll do is slowly adjust it on the Chrono and see what I like. Thanks for the info
I will have a chrony soon, realizing it is a necessary tool to know what's really going on. I want as much knock down power as I can achieve with not too much extra cocking effort. It is a little harder with the heavier spring though. My initial goal was/is to eliminate any hammer bounce and not waste air. I will keep you posted. Thank you for the reply.

I have been wanting to do this for a long time and I just got it done. @Ordinary Average Guy wow, you too... Lol. They have been coming in. Just had been a very interesting year. We're sold out till 2022, easily and JSB is sold out till 2023. Yeah, it's been a year. 👍🏾
Thanks for the informative video. What do you fill your PCP Rifles with? Sounds like you shoot with some serious air gunners. Taking Prarie Dogs with a PCP, that's got to turn some heads in the field. :)
Thanks dmc. I have an Air Venturi compressor, and several scuba and scba tanks. It's not so easy with air rifles, but to me it's more of a challenge, way more fun to use an air rifle setup for long range.
Hey Joe I did your turn on my field / target but I have something to ask can you adjust the hammer spring with the gun cocked ?? I adjusted the sticker with the gun cocked and forgot to unlock the gun before I adjusted the hammer spring !!! Am I good to go or do I have to readjust the hammer spring again with the gun uncocked ???
You can adjust the hammer spring while it's cocked, but I always adjust my hammer spring when the rifle isn't cocked. It's just easier to do while it's not under load. Now, if I don't have a long enough Allen key or screw driver, I adjust the striker with the hammer cocked.

What pellets are you shooting or do you want to shoot? Are the pellets or slugs you shoot accurate out of your rifle? You may have to do some modifications to your rifle such as valve work or a new more powerful valve, utilize a heavier hammer spring to get that speed, depending on the weight of the projectile. Please let me know.
Right now it shoots everything i have put in it. a hole at 10 yards 10 round group even the 10 dollar 500 benjamin pellets .tryed about 6 brands of pellets ,this is the problem i do not want to lose the accuracy for the power , but i would like it to get 933 an keep the accuracy . everyone tune no one shoots groups please shoots some groups , as for as the pellets im up to shoot what ever it takes ,but i hunt with this gun .Thank you for your help
@@barttate3228 933fps is a lot of speed. But if your barrel is good, then accuracy shouldn't be an issue. Just for the speed you want, you're going to have to do some work. I suggest a Jefferson State Air valve or the Hill valve. The Cothran Powerhouse valve is was powerful, just to much for .25 caliber. I'm really bad about shooting groups and even worse when it comes to UA-cam. But you're right, I need to shoot more groups.
A Harbor Freight magnetic tray does a wonderful job of keeping small metal pieces in place. Will these mods work on the semi automatic Benjamin? Nice review, thanks for taking the time to share!
Enjoyed hearing what one does for a power tune. I see a lot of the parts houses have stiffer hammer springs for sale but maybe they aren't needed? What do you think of hammer debounce setups are supposed to save air and reduce noise? Thanks for taking the time to do a great vid that helps us all!
I've never used them. Not saying they don't work, but not for me. Joe Brancato installs them on the M-Rods he sells, so there may be something to them. Stiffer hammers are useful. Say with the stock valve and you want the power without spending a lot or with little effort. Air consumption is an issue then. If using aftermarket valves, my favorite being the Cothran Powerhouse valves---the first balanced valve, then a stock spring is amazing. But balanced valves like the Cothran or JSAR are a different vid altogether. Those are made to produce raw power.
I've never had my hands on one, personally. I have a friend who had one, and because of Benjamin's regulator, he says they don't get much more power out of them.
Hi! Thank you for the great video. I tuned my .22 cal Benjamin Marauder (gen 2/synthetic stock) as specified in your video. I haven't had a chance to chrono it yet or conduct an accuracy test with the new settings. So I'm looking forward to that! My question is, do you find the sweet spot for how much air pressure you fill the rifle to changes with tune settings? What about the guns preference for pellet make/model? The reason why I ask is, my gun liked exactly 2,600 psi, and with shooting H&N terminators, (16.36gr) I could get around 769 fps, and at 35 yards I could get a three shot group with all three holes touching. I'm curious to see if my rifle will now like a different air pressure charge and also pellet type. Thanks again and looking forward to your insight.
Rifles like to shoot what they like. At any tune a projectile may shoot different than before. Generally, if a rifle shoots a particular pellet well, than it usually stays the same. The tune I showed is for power so expect an increase in speed. You may find yourself needing a different pellet. Maybe even a heavier projectile. This is when you will have to start testing. Things will change in one way or another. The hope is that you'll get 2 magazines with a speed increase, and accuracy.
What is your fill pressure you are starting at? I assume 3000-3200. Thanks for the information! Ok so I did the tune and I ported the valve and the breach to 3/16”. Before I drilled it out it was stock. I put the piece of 1/4 tubing for the transfer port. Before I did all this I had the hammer ccw all the way back and a full 8 cw on the hammer spring. With the jsb 25 gr. Pellets I was getting 865 FPS by filling to 3100 psi. After I drilled everything and put the tubing in and adjusted it like you had yours set at 5 and 3 I am now shooting at 700 FPS. Any thoughts? Thanks.
That's interesting. I don't understand why you weren't getting over 900fps before the mods. As you can see his first 8 shots were great. I only filled to 3000psi and the Kings were flying pretty good. Also, anything past 6 turns on the hammer spring will put the spring guide off the threads, so the hammer spring and guide are loose. If you push on them with your alan key you'll feel it. I wonder if there wasn't an issue with the valve in the beginning. Also, since you opened the valve exhaust, did you change out the valve spring for something not so stiff? That will help with getting more air. If you are on GTA or Airgun Nation look me up by my UA-cam name and send me a pm. I'll be more than happy to exchange numbers.
Have ? For you. I bought seal kit put new seals on the valve lube it good and the tube threads but insert it in slow n easy evenly but there couple tiny pieces of seal Is that normal. Thanks
The gauge hole in the tube is probably catching the o-rings as they pass over. When you insert the valve and gauge block and get to the o-rings slowly push them over and use a small rounded pick and gently push on the o-ring as it passes. Put more silicone on the o-rings as they pass. Also, when you take the rifle down, and the tube is without the internals, smooth down the gauge opening, the openings for the bolt, sear, all the openings. Get a ball hone and smooth the entire back end of the tube where all the punched openings are. Get a ball hone with a fine grit.
That .177 was about 876fps/36fpe before, after it was 946fps/42fpe. Now it's 1000fps capable with a JSAR (Jefferson State Air Rifles) valve and polyurethane hammer.
@Werner Voss if you power a M-Rod up and shoot light, sure. But realistically, you wanna shoot a good weight projectile, at a good speed. Have fun and thanks for the comment.
What hammer/spring setting do you have for your 25 cal marauder and also what settings on your reg do you have and what cal slugs are you using I got a tj standard length barrel my huma reg is at 145 bar and my pellets are 25.4 grain fx pellets I want to shoot slugs now that I got a new barrel please please help me
When I did this vid, my .25 was setup for power and 2 full magazines. I had the spring 3 turns in clockwise (from a starting point of it being backed out fully counter clockwise), the hammer striker was 3 turns from flush also...for more hammer travel, the velocity adjustment screw on the right side of the tube was fully backed out 5 turns counter clockwise for full air flow through the transfer port. I was using a Lane regulator set at 2050psi, averaging 858fps for 42fpe with the JSB .25 Kings 25.39gr.

Hey brother very good video! You didn’t talk a lot. What’s the max fpe can the marauder achieve with how you tune or what’s the max fpe that can be achieved!
Depending on caliber and projectile weight, tube pressure... you can get 45fpe pretty easy in .25. It's been so long since I've shot a stock rifle, all of mine are modded. I do have a stock .25 M-Rod, it's regulated. Guess I need to remove the reg and see what I get. I wanna say I've made up to 50fpe in a stock .25... but I really like to do a little valve work and open up the barrel port for better results.
@@Monkeydad1969 of course. See the reason why I’m concerned about power is because I’m so use to how I have my .177 break barrel. It shoot like a 22-short. I DO NOT SEE THE PELLET OR SLUG N THE AIR! That’s what I’m use to! I realize that for the power I’m use to dealing with I need to upgrade to a pcp which can be easily modded and not a hassle to tune! I’m looking for the key ingredients; new plenum, and other adjustments that can yield 1080 or 1200 fps in .25 cal at least around 26-30 gem slugs🤷. I am looking at the Avenger-X and the Maurauder in .25 cal! The Avenger -X have so many mods. But I’m an old Benjamin buff from back in the 80’s and I wanted to compare and see which is easier to tune and which one can yield the most power and is it possible to put a. Otto’s on a mairauder? Or is that what the Cayden is for (it has a bottle)?
@roderickthomas3417 1200fps in .25 is not an easy feat, even with all the tech in pcp rifles. On your .177 break barrel, what weight pellet are you shooting? Idk much about the Aveng-X. It has a lot of tunability. The M-Rod lacks the reg. A Cayden to me isn't the best platform for power. Also, there are other brands that are more than capable of getting you where you wanna be, as long as you have the money to spend. To be honest, I think for power and accuracy, you can't go wrong with the AirForce Condor or the AEA Challenger Pro. I have both, and they are amazing.
Is it possible to produce 30-33 foot pounds using a 30cal huma regulator and a power house valve? I am having a hard time getting the .177 15gn slugs up to 950-1000 fps with my benjamin marauder. 177cal. I have a 20 inch barrel. Any help would be appreciated
I got over 40fpe with a .177 Marauder shooting 21gr Piledrivers and 19.5gr Varmint Knocker slugs. I opened the ports on the barrel and valve and put a softer valve return spring in it. With the .30 Huma and the same work I did, I don't see why not. The only issue, and don't tell Don I said this, the Powerhouse valve for the Marauder in anything less than .25 isn't what I would use. It's made to push more air than the .177 can take. You will just choke the valve out. Even with the reducer Don sends with it. The .30 Huma barely has enough plenum for the Cothran valve. I'd say go with the stock valve. If you're not afraid to open the ports, then open the barrel and valve to .156. Hell, send it to me and I'll do it for you. You also need to increase your hammer throw by backing the striker all the way back to the hammer face. I'd also back off the hammer spring (counter clockwise) then turn it 3 full turns clockwise. Also, make sure to clean up the ports once you've opened them and definitely polish the lead in, polish the valve port too.
@@Monkeydad1969 thanks Joe. I'll test out the stock valve and make a longer stroke on the hammer. Do you think the power house valve would work better with heavier. 22cal slugs? Like 30gn +
@@airgunsofidaho4886 Like I said in my reply, anything less than .25---actually---anything less than .30 I would not use a Powerhouse valve for. It just flows too much air. Even my .35 bottled M-Rod regulated at 1600psi I'm pushing the .35 Polymags at 900fps/146fpe. It's just too powerful for small bore Marauders. Now if you were using his Discovery Powerhouse valve, then yes...I would do .172 (yes .172), .177, .22, .25, maybe .257. I have built a bottled 2260 in .177 using the Disco Powerhouse valve and it's a mean rifle. I should also say this...I have my .177 M-Rod pushing a lot with the JSAR valve. NO hammer spring tension, and full hammer stroke. It is 60fpe with 19.5 grain Varmint Knockers. Yes, my barrel port is .156. So once Matt gets everything set at JSAR you may wanna talk to him. Side note, just cause I brought it up, the M-Rod Powerhouse valve may be really nice for a .257 build...hmmmmmmmmm.
@@Monkeydad1969 I'll test the stock valve for now and maybe upgrade to the jsr valve in the future. I was building a benjamin discovery 22 but the way it was built i couldn't put it to get there. Haha 😄 I didn't realize a few things before I when to put it together.
Thanks for the video, very helpful. Two part question, I'm somewhat new to pcp guns. Do you de-gas when you make these adjustments? Also, I have a regulated maurader, is there anyway this would mess with the regulator? I didn't realize when I got the regulated version it was a set to a lower fps, I just liked the shot count. I wouldn't think it would matter just wondering your thoughts. Thanks!
You don't have to de-gas the rifle. Only if you need to actually get into the tube. The adjustments won't affect the reg. But you probably won't get real high numbers because of the reg.
Hey Monkeydad, You are right, I got my new pellets in, and I'm shooting an average of 928fps. I'm using the AArms 18 grains and they are plenty accurate enough for me! Pellet on pellet at 30yds and about 1 inch at 55yds. I'm very happy with That! But I have another question if I may ask. I've been play around with different setting, and no matter how I set it I can still hear hammer bounce. Do you think a 10# spring ( and/or ) a tss spring kit from War with the super hammer would fix that and make it easier to cock? Thanks
I'd love to do some though,I watch a lot of nodding vids but people keeping jumping around on proper steps and adding forgotten info that they just remember at last minute..lol
Awesome video sir.. I own the Benjamin Marauder Woodsman (pistol / carbine) Model in .22 cal Would this adjustment still be applicable with the shorter barrel ? Thanks for your videos they are very informative and to the point
Hey what other mods do you have on that .177? I followed your process and with the piledrivers I am getting @540fps for about 13ft/lbs, otherwise bone stock (brand new) marauder F&T with the LW barrel. Oh and thanks for taking the time to make the vid!
The F&T is regulated. That's not gonna work. I have replaced the valve spring, opened the valve and barrel port, .25 M-Rod transfer port, and tuned. I'm getting 950-960fps for 42-43fpe. If you don't want to mess with the F&T, get a used .177 Marauder. I'd be more than happy to help you thru it.
Monkeydad1969 how’s the accuracy? The way it’s setup now I’m getting dime sized groups at 60yds. I heavily modded my hatsan Bullboss .25, lightened/polished the hammer, opened the transfer port/barrel to 15/64”, JB welded the valve & made single hole facing the transfer port, adjusted the spring tension till I got 950(ish) FPS w/JSB 33.59 heavies....so I’m getting @70 ft/lbs accuracy is good to @75-80 yds which is what I hunt at. I’d like to have the marauder at the same range with @50 ft/lbs. but accuracy is critical.
@@darrenfrith3958 I actually haven't done any real groups, but...I tag P-Dawgs at 100-187yds accurately. The work on your Hatsan is impressive. To get 50fpe on a .177 Marauder you'll need a longer barrel to take advantage of the extra fps. That'll get you closer to 50fpe. Or a aftermarket valve like a WAR valve or a Cothran Powerhouse valve. Only thing is that the Cothran will over power the setup in .177. His valves are made for .30 and up on the M-Rod. I have put them in .25 M-Rods, but it's a fine line between just right and OMG!
I have n mrod .25 on the way, my first PCP. This video was so straight forward and easy to understand, I thank you. I don't remember you mentioning fill pressure...i assume this tune is for 3k psi max fill? Another question, What's the max fpe one can expect for a 2 mag string?
I fill to 3200psi often on my personal rifles. But on one tune for my bud I filled to 3kpsi and got 2 mags with an 894fps average, high of 905fps, low of 868fps with a 11.49 standard deviation shooting the 25.39gr Kings. That's unregulated of course.
@@Monkeydad1969if you remember, how did that tune differ from this one in the video? Also is accuracy at all affected by cranking up HS etc? (Just thinking internal vibrations)
@@9mmkahr the vid was more for instruction, not an actual tune. There are more in depth things that can be done, but that involves changing the valve spring and opening/polishing ports...for more power, less shots. Of course you can change out the hammer spring and if you wanted, get a more powerful valve.
That stock looks so good. I do not like the foregrip on the Marauder factory stocks. They are too fat flat and bulky. How did you put a .35ltr. bottle on a Marauder ? Very good helpful and informative vid. Thank You.
I love the stocks on all of my Marauders, they're all aftermarket. The factory stocks are ok. I really like the Armada stock and it's just an easy swap to a Marauder. On my bottled .35 I had the tube cut to my desired length. On my bottled .25 the complete setup was made to fit around the tube and frame. Great sport, gets frustrating at times...but seriously digs a hole into the wallet.

Good video Md1969, I like that stock on your 177, where'd you get that from? Wish I'd seen this video before all the mods I made on my 25 cal. But I enjoy mine just fine, but it does need to be chronied.
Thanks Ken. The stock is a Teryx. Unfortunately they are not made anymore. I'm glad this vid has been helpful for a few shooters. I'd have done a few more vids but my job keeps me going 6 days a week.
Monkeydad1969, ok thanks for the reply. I have Tim Hill valves and TP mods in mine, but have not chronied it yet, however I did notice an increase in power. Thanks again.
Sweet video , answered many questions. In your .25 with those mods how many shots is that giving you? Thank God for a video that is nice and to the point! Keep it up bud !
That is a Teryx chassis. Mine is for a Gen I. They don't make them anymore, unfortunately. But the did make it for the Gen 2's also. They sometimes come up for sale, but very rare.
You can go to Hill Airguns, Mountain Air, Jefferson State Air Rifles---but they have been hit or miss lately due their custom Raptor builds, or my all time favorite Cothran Machine Shop---Don builds the Powerhouse valve for the Disco and M-Rod.
What fps would you use on 35 grain slugs on benjerman maraider 25 cal I just got a cronopgraph and don’t know a good fps for it and I also got a 22 twist rate stock length tj barrel stock hammer spring and hammer and valve
Well, first make sure the slug is accurate out of that barrel. Then do chrony work. Tune the slug and barrel to the speed in which the accuracy is best. Speed can kill, and I'd rather have accuracy over speed any day. Basically I can't tell you a definite speed without me actually shooting your rig with that slug. I can throw a number at you, try low 900's to mid 900's then go from there. What are the going to use the rig for hunting or punching paper...under 100 yards or really stretching it out?
@@Monkeydad1969 I’m using it for hunting like 70 yards max for the ground squirrel and also I just know your the only person I know with 25 cal slugs that post vids so I came to you for help also I wonder what a stock valve and spring can shoot out of marauder I just want best fps for stock marauder besides the ti barrel I have it is stock
@@drizzy2110 ok. But I haven't posted any vids with .25 slugs. I'm not that com 🤣. You definitely need to do some chrony work and see what speed they are most accurate at. What is the grain weight and what slugs are they?
Reply with the quickness! I get the first 2 adjustments. On the hammer throw or stroke adjustment… CCW full stop… would this be max power? Why do you go CW 3 full turns? Would I possibly want CW 1, 2 or 3 full turns? Thanks again and hope my question makes sense
@@precisionrodentcontrol_PRC you reply with the quickness too LOL. I say 3 turns CW from being backed out all the way as a baseline. It is different for each rifle and shooter. It all depends on what you are looking to get from your rifle and tune. If you want more hammer stroke then back it CCW. I usually go more hammer stroke so mine are backed off CCW completely. CCW full stop is max hammer stroke...ie...more power.
Hey, this power tune you showed, wide open on valve, 5 turns on HS, & 3 turns out on H Stoke. I like that on my marauder .22. I'm shooting CPHP 14.3 gain. I ordered some JSB 18.13 gain 15.89 gain and A arms 16 and 18 gain. Do you use the stock hammer spring? And do you think I can get 900fps with the 18 gain? All stock parts that is.P.S. I don't shoot more then one magazine, I fill to 2900 and it's still about 2600, then I fill it back.
Hello nice video explain clear on the .177 I have the .22 model Your tune works for both the 177 and the .22? Thanks. PS with the power tune would you think be safe for coyote head shot to discharge a coyote? Have one trying to attract my dog in back yard. Thanks for info. God bless
@@topdragster365w yes it does work on all the calibers. It will definitely make a .25 capable of taking a coyote. Here in Colorado it's only legal with .25 or higher. But if you are legally able to use a .22 for yotes then the power tune will be very helpful.
This is a great video - thanks so much for putting this out there. I recently just got a .22 mrod and will be looking to set it up similarly. With your tune on a .22, what would you expect for a quality shot count? If you were looking to increase that count just a bit, would you first look to close up the velocity valve? I'll be hand pumping still for a bit so may want to tame it some. @@Monkeydad1969
@@jfhall for that type of tune I'd look for 2 magazines. I'd also shoot a little heavier projectile. You may not have to be that aggressive with a tune on a .22 M-Rod to get good power, and still retain a good shot count.
Yes, but the regulator will give you an even better shot string. I tuned a friend's regulated .25 and it got 16 shots with a deviation of 3fps pushing King Heavies at 60fpe.
Hey Joe I know that this is a bit older video but if you're still out there i have something to ask if I may ? Can you adjust the hammer spring and the hammer throw without opening up the pin in the valve ?? And if I adjust the hammer throw all the way out to start with like you did is there a positive stop or will it back all the way out like you said it will if you go all the way in with it ?? And does the hammer spring adjustment stop when you back it all the way out or will it come out of the gun ?? Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated !!
The RVA, rear velocity adjuster or hammer spring adjuster will stop when you go CCW (counter clockwise) until it stops. It will come off the threads if you go clockwise all the way. The hammer throw (striker) will hit the face of the hammer when you go fully CCW, but it can come off the threads if you you go too far clockwise. You don't need to adjust the velocity adjustment pin when tuning with the hammer spring and/or the hammer throw...just be aware you will limit the tune if tuning for huge power gains.
@timmy4539 well, being that the Field and Target is regulated, your mileage may vary. The nice thing is that it will be consistent, but you will not get any huge power gains.
Thanks!
That's so very cool. Glad my vid helped.
Just got a Marauder and I needed this visual so I can increase velocity. Great video!
Awesome! Thank you!

@Monkeydad1969 I don't have a chronograph but will be getting one this week but I have the swinging metal targets and before it was smacking them and they would move 5/6 inches on the swivel now they going completely around smacking twice as hard and this is a new marauder I just bought this week stock from manufacturer
@@ctjetskiclub772 cool beans. Looking forward to your results.

It's set on the lowest setting. Tuning is key and a chrony is essential.

I adjusted the sticker with the gun cocked and forgot to unlock the gun before I adjusted the hammer spring !!! Yes they do. I had one, but was no real need for it during the vid. But, no this won't work on the S.A.M.
Superb video brother. Do you know if the same steps can be taken for the Field and Target version?
I've never had my hands on one, personally. I have a friend who had one, and because of Benjamin's regulator, he says they don't get much more power out of them.

@@Monkeydad1969 thank you!
Here's is my bud's M-Rod shooting the Kings on the tune:

Now he was only worried about getting 2 good mags.
Get a ball hone with a fine grit.
hello, video is really good Explained.
I want to know what was fps previous and after tuning the gun what was fps in. 177 cal
@Werner Voss a few springer makers do that for sales. It's unfortunate.
Can all of this be done with the chamber under a charge. What a great informative video. Thanks
Yes it can. But if you want to err on the side of safe, you can depressurize the tube.

What did you do? 😂.

@@Monkeydad1969 I’m going to send it to you and you can work your magic. Lol I added a new gauge and fill port but uhh yeah...no air holding. Need all new seals and ready to throw it in the river. Bought new valve 👍 speed going up.
Oh yeah! 👍🏾. Did you get a balanced valve?
Hi joe,i make this setting to mi .177 with 13 gr zan slugs end i have 934 fps. Thanks for your video.
I have updated my .177 since the vid. It is powered by a JSAR valve and shoots a 19.5gr VarmintKnocker .177 slug at 60fpe. I have tried KO Slugs, and they do great. Please keep me in the loop on your setup.
@@Monkeydad1969 I don't know if i can order valve from US because I'm in Cyprus i will try. Can you tell me how to find what barrel i have in my Benjamin; Thanks.
@@a.l.r.3006 I don't know if JSAR will ship internationally. When you say find what barrel you have, do you mean what manufacturer made it? It's the .177 barrel that Benjamin makes in house.
@@Monkeydad1969 yes that i was meaning, thank you very much for your time to answer. keep the good job 👍.
@@airgunsofidaho4886 Discos are easy to build. Just do it! 😎

Yes they would. You just have to take all the furniture off before you can get to power adjuster and velocity adjustment screw.
@@Monkeydad1969 thanks man
@@krlossires you're very welcome.
To increase the power which direction do i hve to turn?clockwise or anti clockwise?
Clockwise on the hammer spring.
Thanks
Man, I'm so sorry. I just happened to be going through my comments and I just saw this. Are you still having the hammer bounce issues?
Amazing video. How many shots do you get on the 177 and 25 on this setup?
On the .25 two magazines with good power. The .177 I can get 20-25 really good shots. I just have to adjust my POA.
