Everything before that (minus the ones you mentioned) however... Man it could have been so great. Thanks for the awesome video
Viviana in the first half of the event is great and I love the semi-detective vibe it got. But as soon as she steps into the void, Viviana feels like an uninvolved npc. They probably have problem with Viviana's past not talked about a lot, unlike Arturia who got teased as far back as Guiding Ahead and even got a whopping manga for that. Maybe they don't want another Texas scenario where her backstory isn't explored enough. But they double down on her backstory too much that her second half of story in ZT just isn't coherent to the rest of the story.
I actually really liked the ideas behind Hool once I got over hatred for her eyenumbing design and really meh implementation into plot; mainly thanks to the nuclear seiyuu, good base skill, and building her out of spite so I could actually rant about her place in balance ladder This curse and its effects on their race, the why its there and what it leads her to, the ultimate understanding that her whole race's quest is pointless but it still leads them to physical and mental degradation,... even this obsession with you, a literal relic of the past, potentially last of a whole race just like her and yet opposite in actually being your truest self, drilling in just how unfair is the situation surrounding the kukulkan Shit's amazing ground for very cool person-level tragedy IMO And yet we have what we have. A booba bait who had no time to be properly explored even if the implementation was actually good. Which is one of reasons for why I hate all those expositions through faceless npcs arknights loves to do these days. All of that text space could've instead been used for meaningful characters. Well, fuck
It's exactly like what I feel with Texas too. They got great potential for their own archetype with personal tragedy, but that means because their problem is personal, they need time to narrate their own thoughts and motivations to make people invested in their personal tragedy. We could've had existential crisis of an obsessed last member of an extinct race, but sadly HG is bad at actual good character writing when it actually matters, so we got whatever mess Hool is in LT. In Siracusano all the useless time for the npc Danbrown and Benwtfhisname boring exposition and Penguin Logistics' unnecessary appearance could've been used to explore Texas' inner reflection of her family tragedy. But noooooo, the Texas we got is the side character in her own anniversary event. Even a fucking 5* Lappland got more spotlight and hype in the event. Like Ho'ol and her thirst-bait design, thanks to her meta-breaking kit people gives Texas a free pass for being badly written bland af.
As someone with bias towards the sui siblings and their story line I shall deny such slander of ever existing and after living for over thousands of years Ling has every right to do as she please and is one of the more unique immortals I've seen that doesn't whine or complain about their immortality 24/7.
Very succinctly put video. Enjoyed it. Though i gotta say this first so it's outta the way, after all the arguments you presented, i feel like you are trying to compare apples to strawberries. Yes they are red sweet fruits and yes some comparisons are fairly logical, but others aren't quite so in my opinion. On your point about influence and power (not physical), they are quite distinctly different. Fremont is currying favors to everybody since he's got all the capital a lich could ever gather and need to exchange it for something else like knowledge and leniency, but Ho'ol is just a nobody snake with very limited lifespan and been scraping the barrels to even get to a relevant position prior to Doro's Vision, and even then her puzzle pieces that she seeks are scattered across antagonistic factions. She needs entry access from Ferdinand, she has to go up in ranks with Maylander to gain clues in the archives, she needs to do the Military's bidding to be let to stay on track, yet she needs to not go all the way since Ferdinand's route is a dead end and it's actually Kirsten's she gotta follow to progress, and even then she is not home free because in the end Dokutah, an entirely different third party holds the true key after all, just for her to see the progenitor of her life's goal disintegrate right before her eyes. In this hindsight, Fremont's influence and power that he uses as an immortal lich is wholly different from Ho'ol's barrel-scrapping double agent acting. And another point is goal, both the character's and the writer's. Fremont's written to be a good-siding character even despite his self-serving nature, only his stinging words present to show he is not a grandiose savior and to be the red herring for Gerhard Hoffman's twist villain reveal. Even when he is offered to have Ludwig University rebuilt for his stead and his autonomy returned like before, he chooses to do the greater good and not attract anymore unwanted attention for Leithanien. Another point, Leithanien is written like this mysterious land full of conspiracy but the only unknowns are between the obvious good guys twin empresses and the slightly veiled sadistic King loyalists, so Fremont has no need to scheme, he just have to lay not too high and his wishes are granted, imo he has no need to do bad things. Compare this to Ho'ol. First, she is definitely written as a foil to characters, most noticeably Mumu, both at the end of their short ropes. Second, Columbia has this mask of civility, yet is full of snakes ready to backstab each other the moment they have to share clout and profit, and ironically Ho'ol is dropped into this den. Even before Doro's Vision, you can read up that Science Firms are at cold war, the Military waging an auction for their support in exchange for R&D for weapons, the Maylander and Government hand in hand to suppress anyone trying to usurp excessive power. Fremont's baddassery and nonchalance that captivates all is simply not possible and not intended in Ho'ol's endless Columbian rat race that demand morality be damned. Which makes me appreciate Ho'ol as a distinct character rather than comparing her to Fremont. Though Ho'ol having her ass bailed is definitely bull lmao, Hypergryph definitely grasping at straws to make her join Rhodes as an Op at the last second.
Ho'ol was taken in by Kals'it mostly because she hold what remain of Friston and Kals'it would rather keep these remain in the hand of Ho'ol who simply sees it as some kind of deity rather than letting the Colulmbian government get their hand on it.
@@Marekthejester True but that was not what me and video maker's problem. The problem is how Ho'ol was so easily let off the hook after a recorded attempt of snuffing out the Tin Man, an important person within the Maylander, ran with so many confidential Columbian secrets, instigated so many conspiracies, and had a hand in Kirsten's space odyssey rebellion (that's how the government sees it). Compared to the Head of Military Commision and Ferdinand that almost got the execution punishment just for interfering, and even they worked together at the end while Ho'ol was hellbent on getting Maylander out of her way. I'm sure you can explain it away with Kal'tsit making below table deals with that little birdie Max with Friston as the bargaining chip to let Ho'ol into Rhodes Island's fold, but damn if the Government and Maylander suddenly erased their bounty on her head.
I like the arguments in the video too but I agree with you that they very clearly are indeed different characters. Fremont has a space and a purpose in Leithanien and acts accordingly. Mr king of litches lending his immortality to the witch king and coming back to help the main characters just because he can. Meanwhile Ho’ol point is that she’s desperately clawing at an inevitable fate and trying to make the most of her life. Ho’ol struggles to gain a foothold in Columbia and even almost dies during all the chaos in lone trial (but lives due to hg wanting her as an operator). One has no proper goal because he doesn’t need one to live on while the other has no proper goal because she’s accepted her upcoming death. Like I guess they act similarly outside of their thoughts and values but that seems like a pretty shallow comparison…
@@SebastianKhyleLBaja Yeah Max's leniency to getting Friston is definitely logical, but i just imagine if Max never found out, or was thinking deviously he can enforce Maylander or even the entirety of Columbia to just pry Friston out of Ho'ol's dead hands. Only Max's long-lived wisdom must've prevented that.
Good video! Fremont was a great character, and I loved the way he was portrayed in the story. As little as he really had to work with and all. I do want to mention Arturia as a highlight though, as for me she was easily the second most interesting character in Zwillingsturme. Though she doesn't immediately present herself as one, she's essentially an addict, and I found her to be an incredibly interesting portrayal of one. Her arts essentially make her a blank canvas for other people to paint their emotions onto, but doing so seems to her abandoning or stifling her own emotions and personality. The witch king called her out on this during one of the cutscenes near the end. There's also another cutscene with a young Executor and Arturia. During the cutscene, she's clearly scared of what her arts are capable of, likely realizing what they are doing to others and to herself at this point, but for some reason or another, whether she couldn't bring herself to stop already, or she was pressured to continue playing her music by someone else, she continued and slowly eroded at her own sense of self. Now, as deep as she's gone, the only emotions Arturia seems to be able to experience are other people's emotions, and so to escape what's essentially an emotional death, she has to commit more and more extreme atrocities in order to get her "hits" and feel anything at all. From what I'd heard from some friends (I'm not caught up in the story, and this was my first meeting with Arturia), I'd assumed she'd just be a generic psycho, but I have to say that I am impressed by what I actually saw of her.
Genuinely the only character that makes it bearable for me to read and maybe federico too which is ironic that as a side character he is much more entertaining than in his own event PLAYABLE FREMONT WHEN!?!?
Absolutely nothing in the world couldve prepared a man for that Freudian slip at 1:28 , and you giving us the same illustrations that caused it aren't helping
I mean, considering she has brain damage(her backstory and the origin of her single motivation) and a shorter than most lifespan, I wouldn't say her being impulsive doesn't fit with her. That aside, yeah, besides a couple of things and her character themes and some setbacks, she could have been removed from the Rhine Labs saga and the results would probably maybe have been the same like the only reason she is there is because Kristen has Friston which makes it somewhat hilarious Ho'olheyak did everything she did just to not even be able to talk with the sole reason she helped Kristen.
I get that, it felt to me like I was being presented with a character that the writers were waving the Machiavellian prowess of a character in my face while at the same time expecting me to believe that they fumble the bag out of nowhere unprompted, felt a lot like W in earlier chapters. If Ho'ol ever shows up again it'll hopefully be like later chapters W where she isn't being pushed as any kind of tactical messiah, but instead is actually that weird ass wildcard whose impulsiveness is used by the writers to be creative as opposed to pushing forward the plot by doing random stupid shit
@livingrain I have to wonder, with the things teased in PV4 and the thing Hoederer got in chapter 13 if someone like Ho'olheyak will get involved. Then again, I expected Flamebringer to show up in the Victoria arc, but things didn't turn out that way. Maybe if there'll be a Kazdel arc.
Ok rain, now that you've actually articulated why you think ling is a mid character, fair point I'll give you that. I will get around to writing a fic that does show her doing those things and the progression from that to her current state as a jaded drunk immortal.
Ah another fellow ling enjoyer you are Goated. Rain should blame the creator not ling😭🙏 also if you're serious about the fanfic where she does allat link it pls
@@livingrain*sigh* me too bruh. I just finished the video by the way, very good and pretty funny (i just discovered this channel really) You've basically said my thoughts about Zwillingsturme (Except Arturia's cool). Thought i missed something about Ho'ol but this video really made me realized she's really just. uh. like that.
Well, Ho'olheyak is an operator and Fremont isn't sooooooo. As much as I love her, her whole "I am trying to find my ancestors true form" thing didn't go anywhere. She didn't quite arrive in time to ask Friston about it, at least he grabbed his consciousness, not going to question how she did that. AND I ABOUT THAT, I still don't understand why she had to join Rhodes Island that way, they really couldn't do anything more interesting than that??? HG could have done more of course, but for now she is in Rhodes Island where a lot can be possible. Her second module also has some weird lore involving robot Friston. . Mean girl? Implies that she is a teenager or acts like one which I don't think its the case. She is sassy and playful, in like a mature older woman kind of way. I'd also dare say that her insults are pretty good. She literally said to Muelsyse, and I quote: "I've got to be careful. A kid who just lost her parents might have a pretty bad temper." That is absolutely hilarious when you take into account the context. Its a type of humor I don't expect people to get, like how I don't get Matt Rife's jokes. I love Muelsyse, but she gets dog walked by Ho'olheyak on a constant basis. Aside from the lore, Fremont and her are pretty similar. He is just more of a serious character which is more "cool" I suppose. She is the more fun character between them. I think her being a loner makes her character more interesting. She doesn't care much for most people, she seems to only interact with people she can get something out of, which makes total sense for her character. A history type of gal with a sense a humor and an adventurous past, nothing boring about that. Also the only K'uk'ulkan we know of. Pretty sure there should be more to say here and I would if I can recall correctly. Sifting through all that yapping to find the good parts is such a chore, because to get a better understanding of them, you need to read through a lot of those. . . I am sure her lore can be more interesting if they tie her actions to something more concrete and/or relevant. Her race is super unique, but its giving nothing. She still slays though. 💛✨
Holheyak is as bland as the generic gacha player cc trying to find sustain in a gacha game's story lol the stories are just baits to make certain people pull for it, and I say certain majority of players dgaf about that just look at how much money they got out of that banner lol. This video is like comparing old SUPAH video with this.. Similar but two different person. "I like Fremont than Ho'olheyak" That's cool. "So Fremont has long beard and Ho'olheyak has snake tail so they're different" Yep different. "Since they have different characters, that's why the way they are!" Exactly, so what's this again? "I like Fremont" Bruh Keyword "different character" _Why everyone isn't the same as Amiya as a character? We could bring peace to Terra, but why?_ in short: This video is Ho'olheyak.
I watched the whole thing and... All I got out of this is "I like Fremont more than the snake." That's cool but they are still different characters?? I don't get why this video exists...
Rage bait sells in youtube Still, I do agree Hool is a wasted potential. But it's HG, while they cook hard with lorebuilding and main story, their character writing in events is a big hit or miss (hit: Mumu, Eyjalter, Kristen, Fremont. miss: Texalter, Hool, okay swimsuit Chen is just atrocious)

Unlike Damazti Cluster and Draqual or even Theresa.
Sarkaz lords are just your typical saturday cartoon villain minus the comedic factor
Except fremont of course
@@Thagorraki Everytime I read about Draqual ,Damazti, Manfred, and Confessarius, I could fee my braincells dying because of cringe.

Ling is supposed to be a drunken hazbin though, the dragon god equivalent of peaking in highschool.
She executes that role very well.
@@AlmightyYaeMiko Bro I haven't written it yet lmao. Best I can do is point you at great drinkers are more remembered than wise sages by ebolabooze
@@ThatArknightsMusicMan lmk whenever you do take your time and cook bro thanks for the recommendation i hope it's not a rom com fanfic tho pls
Did you just make a comparison video about two different characters, telling them why they are different and should not be compared?
Snek redemption arc? Doctor should:🍞🌭🍦 happy end😉🤭

I miss those old magikarpusedfly videos 😔
@@livingrain*sigh* me too bruh. I just finished the video by the way, very good and pretty funny (i just discovered this channel really)
You've basically said my thoughts about Zwillingsturme (Except Arturia's cool). Thought i missed something about Ho'ol but this video really made me realized she's really just. uh. like that.
@@akety3570 I think the bit in this video with her in the bar shouting I SHOULD HAVE BEEN SOMETHING best reflects my opinion on her
Well, Ho'olheyak is an operator and Fremont isn't sooooooo.
The moment you mischaractarized hoolheyak i immediately said yeah, this video's gonna suck ass 😂😂😂
Yes the lich is top tier and nobody should disagree!
🗣📢🔥🔥"YES KING"
I really liked his part
ahhhh my weekly dose of snake hate
Always no worries
The transitions are a bit loud compared to the rest of the video, good video nonetheless
Holheyak is as bland as the generic gacha player cc trying to find sustain in a gacha game's story lol the stories are just baits to make certain people pull for it, and I say certain majority of players dgaf about that just look at how much money they got out of that banner lol. Judging the gacha games as a normal game is a flaw
However is a good video it reminds me to supah in his old days of doomposting an 8th grade level storytelling
This video is like comparing old SUPAH video with this..
Similar but two different person.
"I like Fremont than Ho'olheyak"
That's cool.
"So Fremont has long beard and Ho'olheyak has snake tail so they're different"
Yep different.
"Since they have different characters, that's why the way they are!"
Exactly, so what's this again?
"I like Fremont"
Bruh
Keyword "different character"
_Why everyone isn't the same as Amiya as a character? We could bring peace to Terra, but why?_
in short: This video is Ho'olheyak.
Argh stop that the truth hurts!!
Huh tbh, I thought the event was really interesting
Yeah its great
So ye, Hool plus Fremont = Mantra hear me out
Nice.
I watched the whole thing and...
All I got out of this is "I like Fremont more than the snake."
That's cool but they are still different characters??
I don't get why this video exists...
Rage bait sells in youtube
Still, I do agree Hool is a wasted potential. But it's HG, while they cook hard with lorebuilding and main story, their character writing in events is a big hit or miss (hit: Mumu, Eyjalter, Kristen, Fremont. miss: Texalter, Hool, okay swimsuit Chen is just atrocious)
Thank god youtube has added the "don't recommend me this channel" option.
