I have watched your videos for the last like two years and its so interesting to hear your experience in real estate (my mom is a real estate broker) I can say clients putting in offers with other agents/going behind your back is a pretty common thing so don't take it personally some people just don't have loyalty to their agent while others will be repeat customers during your career and will be much more rewarding to see them again and again. Your doing great for being in only your first year of real estate!

As a buyers agent myself, it's so tough to find loyal clients. I had a set of clients earlier this year that I invited into my home to scan documents and submit offers just to find out they've went with another agent that submitted another offer them on a separate property. It's very tough and luckily you have a steady stream of clients and calls since you are a public figure. It never gets easy when clients you've shown so many properties to go behind your back but, you are actually killing it for a first time agent in this business so keep your head up!

You need to crush the LISTING side, because being a buyer's agent can be so frustrating (and time consuming, especially when the market slows or interest rates rise).
I really enjoy seeing your progress as real estate agent in Seattle. As an agent also in Washington state, I FEEL YOUR PAIN when you work with a client and they end up going with someone else. You’ll get through it and learn from it and be better as you progress in your career! Can’t wait to see more content you put out in the future!! :)
It definitely sucks but it also sucks to stick it out with a real estate agent you don’t like working with. I did my first time around and after that I’ll never do it again. You have to spend so much time communicating with them, you are better off finding someone you get along with.

You seem like a great agent and it really sucks that those perspective buyers did that, but buyers need to do what is right for them, it is the biggest purchase of their lives. Hopefully you didn't have too much time invested in them.

I think we have contracts here in Canada that you sign with an agent for a period of time and they’re the only one that can represent you in that time frame, or something like that. Is that not common in the US? Sucks to hear about the client that went behind your back, but so many great things happened as well! :) So happy seeing your growth!!
I'll never forget when my husband and I were looking at houses in Hawaii one of the agents showing (not our agent or company) tried to convince us to switch. He made it sound like it was the best deal. We told him no and then he basically told us we were dumb. Sad thing was that we went in loving the house just by pictures and loved it more by looking at it. If they weren't so rude we would have probably put an offer in but instead he lost us and we told our agent about the situation. Apparently they were known for stealing clients and then doing bad business with them.
Monica can totally relate to the feeling you had after the clients stiffed you. I used to be in cars sales and I had a similar situation happen. I’d made the sale just had to have the customers take delivery. It was supposed to happen the last day of the month. I contacted the customer in the morning to confirm the time they left me hanging for awhile until they admit they had been shopping around and bought elsewhere. I’d waited all day for them and they just blew me off. On top of the I had another delivery scheduled that blew me off as well. So I spent the whole day prepping and waiting for deliveries and missed the opportunity to sell another car. I also missed hitting another bonus. The cherry on top tho is that the customers that initially blew me off the women I went to high school with, know her brother, family and she lived in the same apartment as me with a mutual roommate before I moved in. So not someone I wouldn’t run into again. It was awful I still to this day feel the sting thinking about it.
Missed u on that little break! U and graham actually inspired me to get my license in Vancouver while I’m also in university(I’m 19)! Sooo excited to watch this!

This is why you make sure any client you are working with especially a buyer to sign a s buyer broker exclusivity agreement so they can’t turn around and use another agent ! Saves you sooooo much time but I can feel the frustration
I live in TN so it might be different, but I’m pretty sure there’s an agreement you can have clients sign. Stating they will use you as an agent for at least a 6 month period. You should look into that so it doesn’t happen in the future! Good luck, you’ll do great❤️

As a real estate agent myself, I’ve had that happen where a buyer I’ve been working with just calls the name on the sign and writes an offer with the listing agent. It crushed me too. The worst though, was when a family member (extended family but still) decided to use another agent to list and buy with (it’s happened to me twice now). All you can do is deal with it and make the choice to stay mad or forgive them. (I forgave them, but it’s still there in the back of my mind always unfortunately.)
I'm a bit confused about how it works in America because in Australia you just see a house and make an offer, it doesn't really matter who the agent is. I mean the main focus is getting a house you like, not who the agent is or working with them.
@@jj-if6it In America the offer process varies from state to state, but we use a buyers' agent and a listing agent usually (any agent can be either). A buyer has an agent they tell their wants and needs to and the buyers' agent then sets up a property search and sends them properties that fit their needs/wants. The buyers' agent is responsible for letting people into and showing homes, writing offers and then helping them get through the deal to closing. They usually only make money if they sell the buyer a house. The listing agent lists a property and works for the seller managing contracts and helping the seller put the home on the market. If a buyer goes to the listing agent to write an offer, the listing agent's primary concern is the seller, but they can write up a contract for the buyer and represent them also (usually - it can get complicated). If you're a buyers' agent and you've been showing them properties and then they go to the listing agent and completely cut you out of a deal you have just wasted a ton of time and made no money doing it. That's a very general idea of how it goes here.

If you want to sell your house you use an agent who does all the listing and open inspections, then people talk to them if they want to make a private offer or we usually have public auctions. If you want to buy the place you just speak to this agent. I would never employ an agent to find houses for me unless it's something specialised. We just do the searching ourselves and if we like something we apply directly.

Something that real estate agents don’t realize too is they can come off as super pushy and they just want to make the sale- I’ve left agents because of this and yes they get mad but they think it’s just the client being an asshole when they need to look at their mannerisms and practices… also I’d never ever use a family member for something like this like the OP was complaining about. I absolutely do not mix business and family.
