Love her little tongue sticking out, so cute! I had taken my Shih Tzu to Petco, just to get a bow, and they used this technique. The only thing she didnt do was twist the fur. The girl proceeded to pull out a huge chunk of my babies fur out of her head. I was completely floored!! I will NEVER take her back there!! I will do my own from now on.
So much easier thank you! using the hemostat to get the wraps tight is such a good idea, better than trying to get the dog to still still long enough to wrap the band around the hair so many times!
Oh my gosh. This is brilliant. Not sure how my dog is gonna feel about this, but I'm pretty sure she will always be wearing bows from now on. Thank you!
so glad i found this! most of my bows go on the collars but i have dreaded getting one that goes in the hair because i simply could not do it. looking forward to trying this now!
Can you please do another video on how to use this tool (I have) and wrap the rubber band around it “closely & slowly!!” Also, on how to attach the bow on (or right behind) the ears of a dog. I have a Pomeranian & love the bows right behind her ears, but high enough to show when looking at her face & to show up in pics)! It’s hard to see on this cute dog’s dark ears “how to.” Thank you!😊🐾🐾
I struggle with bows. Thankyou Melissa verplank. I have your book, it's marked up with pen and pencil, highlighter and coffee stains. I use it almost everyday of the week. Can you do a demo on a wiggly, biting dog? 😂
A lot of you have asked about where you can get hemostats. Tradeshows are a great place to get them at reduced prices. You can also try PetEdge. You can even get them at fishing tackle stores!
Thank you so very much for finally solving this dilemma! I too have a little Shih Tzu and can never get her bows on properly; this shall make all the difference. :-)
Molly is a Bichon Frisè & I've been doing research regarding putting in her bows between grooming. I was wondering if different size dogs need different size Hemostats to place the bows in her ears ?
Okay now that is amazing! Where do we get the hemostats from though? Now I can see you've made this look extremely easy but I KNOW it won't be when I go to do it! Lol! I Love that it's not a wad of hair pulled tight up to the scalp..I always feel so sorry for mine when they do that and end up taking it out because I Know it's hurting him..I KNOW because he won't leave it alone! Love to give this a try.
Does it hurt the dog when you slide the bow up the hair strand? Do you get a poof of hair above the hair strand from sliding it up? What size latex or nonlatex bands? Thanks to any and all!
Hehe.my dog HATES bows so she only had it in the one time (it was the first and last time). But she was super cute with them. I'm glad I know how to though if I ever have another pet that does not mind bows
Is that a Les Poochs brush? They sure hurt when you get a pin under your nail haha. I loved this tutorial. My manager is the only one who can put bows in properly so I thought it would be nice to learn how as well. Dickens has the cutest little tongue.
Now days you can probably get them on Amazon. I had a friend who was a nurse and she got me some. Guess doctors can only use them once, so they get discarded after that. But, I’m sure you can get hemostats at a grooming supply store.
I just wanted to ask do the bows come back matted after 4 weeks? A few of my customers occasionally come back with matted bows when they don't fall off all on their own.
+Brenda Lopez If this is the kind of coat that mats easily, you can try putting the bows on the shorter lengths of hair so that the bows do fall out more easily on their own.
I have a yorkie and shes is 8 1/2 months old and i try making her look pretty but i don't know how to put bows on her withought them falling or her scratching them off and i need advice.
After using a crochet hook for years, this is much easier!! Nice, clear instructions - thank you! Love the little tongue! LOL!! So sweet and cute!!
cool...cant wait to try this on monday.. as a new groomer I have a tough time with bows, but I love them...

Awsome, tried it on my retriever; takes a little practice but it worked eventually.

How do you attach the rubber band to the bow?

How do you keep the bows from causing rats in her hair and getting the hair knotted up? that always happens to my dog so I don't use bows very often
