You all are a hard working farm family, of course you get short with each other sometimes but then you laugh together later & that’s a great family! Stay strong & keep with the good work & the food made with love. Thanks for sharing - always look for the humor.💕
Lemon juice sets the sweeten condensed milk so it thickens and you do not have to freeze it. If you mix it with the condensed milk before you start the pie, it makes the pie filling thick. Just try it and you can just refrigerate it and it will set. Just old, and have been making this pie for 45 years. Really special if you add cherries and use the Oreo chocolate crust.
HEY Leslie I have made this pie twice in my semi. When I toast the pecans I toast them in butter. I also toast some of the coconut. I also add some chopped up maraschino cherries, and use the pecan pie crust. Yum so good.
I’m currently 60 years old and I remember us having the Million Dollar Pie’s as a kid every Thanksgiving and Christmas. I seem to recall our recipe being enough for two pies and also includes a small amount of lemon juice but I’m not absolutely certain. I just know is it’s a very tasty pie with ingredients that’s perfect with Graham cracker crust, and I recall both pies always disappeared extremely fast once they were chilled and our holiday dinner finished. Nonetheless, I haven’t had a Million Dollar Pie in many years and you’ve sparked my interest in making sure we start having them again for the holidays or sooner because my mouth is watering just thinking about them! Thanks…
Well Leslie this is one of your older videos but I am just now seeing it. My precious Mama used to make this pie all the time. I always loved it. I have made ir before but mine never tastes as good as Mama's. You know Mamas put love in their dishes and that is what is missing in my recreation of my Mama's dishes. Thanks for the precious memory of my precious Mama
I remember back in the day weight watcher had a dessert similar to this. Replaced sweetened condensed milk for a cubed angle food cake. You ate it like mousse from a bowl. Your pie looks like it was tasty.
My family has been making this recipe for years. One of our favorites. We call it Millionaire pie. We use 16oz of cool whip to make two of the regular size pies because, I can't abide the taste of coconut so, my sweet Momma would make one WITHOUT that foul ingredient. We use the large can of the crushed pineapple & 2 cans of mandarin oranges. At Christmas we added maraschino cherries cut in half. I have a nephew who is always asking me to make this. 😋
If, I recall correctly it was called a "Million Dollar Pie" because, it was extra special treat back in the depression era and everything that goes in it was alittle costly for people who didn't have much money then. And, many had large famalies too feed.
I make one similar to this. It’s called Baptist Pie. The ingredients are one eagle brand milk ,one 8 oz. cool whip, 1/4 c. lemon juice,, one small can of mandarin oranges , drain, one crushed pineapple , drain good. Makes two small pies, top with coconut and crushed pecans. Enjoy!
I make something so similar at Thanksgiving and Christmas. But mine is not in a pie but it sure could be. Just add a can of whole cranberries, my kids love it better than ice cream. Mix all in a bowl take out 30 to 45 mibs before serving. Enjoy!!
In this e million dollar pie recipe. Is there anything I can use in place of the coconut? My husband doesn't like it. I do but he don't. The pie sounds soo good
Sorry y'all were under the weather! Pray you are on the mend!! The pie looks awesome! I think I might change it up a bit and putting heath bar chips and chocolate chips in! Blessings!!
You turn them on and off on your end I believe. I have never turned the on and I actually have people asking me to because they can't hear and I tell them it's something they have to do on their end. If I find out different I will let you know.
I've heard of this but never had it, so didn't know what was in it. I'm not a big fan of coconut, (I don't like the texture), but I might could use the angel flake version and be ok. I'm thinking of using marshmallows instead though. I bet it would be good like that! I'll have to try this when the weather warms back up. Thanks for sharing!
That lid on the pie crust has caused issues with me and my cousin. ..... At a dinner we had, someone brought an icebox pie that they had not removed the lid from before pouring in the filling. My cousin Renny went to lift out a slice and, well, you know the rest ..... I didn't do it but it was my party and he was hungry, so he told me that I owed him a pie. lol
Whyyyyyyyyyyy did you have to say the word "tomato"?!!!! .... I'm sitting here enjoying watching some UA-cams (yours), wasting time and resting, THEN you said "tomato" and made me remember that I have a hoard of them in the freezer I need to do something with today. Well, they can wait til I'm done watching you. lol

Wow, your shirt was a throwback for me. We used to go to the Merlefest in Wilkesboro every year. Talk about a good time, oh my word, I loved it.
Can you toast your coconut for this pie
Sure thing
I always put cherries in this too. Even mandarin oranges are good.

In this e million dollar pie recipe. Is there anything I can use in place of the coconut? My husband doesn't like it. I do but he don't. The pie sounds soo good
I would just leave it out. Don't worry about replacing it.
Perfectly fine WITHOUT the coconut. I don't like coconut either. Use 16 oz cool whip (see my other comment) & make 2 pies leave coconut out of one
I also put maraschino cherries in mine. Rinse them off and cut a jar of them up and put in it
Looks good. You have a cute personality.
Get well soon
I love sugar, it's my down fall,😂😂😂😂
I thought it was “you’ve got to make hay while the sun shines.”
Yep nature won't wait for you! Glad yall got what you needed done! I think I would sell those pies if they are a million dollars!
My grandfather used condensed milk in his coffee! I never tried it, has anyone else!
Bryant's grandparents used it to in theirs
Sorry y'all were under the weather! Pray you are on the mend!! The pie looks awesome! I think I might change it up a bit and putting heath bar chips and chocolate chips in! Blessings!!
Wish these videos were not closed-captioned
There are so many errors if you listen carefully, which I do
JUST A SUGGESTION, not a condemnation

I put one cup lemon juice in my pie that way it sits up real good

😋😋😋😋
Dose the cool whip need to be thawed?
Yes it does.
@@TheFarmingPastorsWife thank you so much. I can remember eating this 40 plus years ago.
You are so welcome

They do make coconut flavoring= flavor without the texture!☺️
You didn’t put any cream cheese or the mar cherries
That lid on the pie crust has caused issues with me and my cousin. ..... At a dinner we had, someone brought an icebox pie that they had not removed the lid from before pouring in the filling. You can put it off until tomorrow 😁
Marshno cherries
Really great teaching, too much unnecessary talk. Great overall though 👍
