- In this video I show you how to weld vertically doing GMAW often known as MIG welding.
Vertically welding can be challenging if not shown correctly.
This video will get you started on the right foot allowing you to succeed quickly.
I hope you enjoy this video!
If you are looking to learn how to weld and would like to go through my course where I go step by step from never welding before to up and welding in no time click the link below to get our first lesson for FREE! ⬇️

I know it’s been a while but do you recall the amps and wire speed you ran this at? I tend to get over heating or dripping when I run with the v pattern
same here thats what i was wondering
Usually 17.8 amps and 240 WFS
yes v ups are trickier in steel the voltage and current are critically matched, amps have a tiny window of what is too hot or too cold
stick is easy but I sure am struggling with straight mig, using an inverter unimig 250, maybe need a smaller tapered nozzle as the nozzle that i have can easily trip on the weld.
My instructor said that big jumps in the layers may lead to problem during a sound check .
I have my 1st welding job test coming up can I ask you a few questions ?
You got it. Don’t overthink it.
My miller 211 has only numbers 1-10 and 10-100 for wire feed and voltage. Still, the chart works pretty good for horizontal. When going vertical, do you go higher or lower settings than your machine's thickness chart ?
With my 211, I use auto weld mostly because I've gotten lazy. I find it's better to lower the voltage/speed when vertical welding. If I use the same setting for horizontal, I get a buildup of material in the middle that often sags. That's with the v style, where it's fast through the middle and hold on the sides.
Is wire speed lower and amps? Every time I try I end up with molting blobs in my thigh 🤦🏻♂️
Really liked this video. Can you show more techniques in the future and possibly touch on what situations it is best used for?
Most definitely!
Pretty not bad !
Really? A clap track? That’s a bit odd …
It might help to have mentioned wire type & gauge as well as material thickness.
I see below 17.8A & 240 FPS which would’ve been useful too.
Ya too bad you will never find a wps that calls for a hardwire uphill verticals
Looks nice tho not trying to be rude
Why not learn to be versatile?
How about down? I heard it's easier?
@@worldtravel101 down is always easier
Im just starting out, whats the most common type of weld you see someone needs to master? I just started overhead today and it's tough
Nice wels wirh no description... what kind of weld... what size... no brands... where you got it.... horrible video for new people shopping at home depot... - stars... your welcome for the comment but its for the people like myself who need some useful content instead of showing of with bs information on how to actually weld
this dude aint wrong bro need more info
Youre gay
To much wire and less temp not a welder😂
Why is that?
