Nice setup. DiGi Rig is great . What I use for my QT 60 HF radio for digital modes. Same speaker default for windows. I changed all that. The hardest setting was TX level that radio had no ALC meter. Gust more work and trying . Must be a small UNUN to only do 30 watt FT8. 73
Agreed! I found out with my new iPhone I can plug in the single USB-C from the digirig, set my G90 to vox, and use the iFTX app to run FT8/FT4 from my phone. Only downside is no CAT control (so learn your frequencies!)
It would be interesting to see what exactly is in that thing. I'd love to know what audio chip they are using. But no one wants to seem to remove a could of screws and open it up 🤣
I had good luck with this bag for my 891 in a cage. " EXCELLENT ELITE SPANKER Tactical MOLLE Hydration Backpack Water Bladder Carrier Pack for Tactical Vest Backpack Plate Carrier "
I had a problem with the CAT control. The radio kept shifting the frequency around. I changed "split mode" in wsjtx to rig instead of fake it and that seems to fix my problem.
Great content. I'm really new to FT-8 but having tons of fun with it. I have a question.... do you use a logger like HAMRS while making FT-8 contacts ? And, if so, do you upload those logs to QRZ or LGoTw once a day? Just not sure how I should be doing it. Might even be a good idea for a video. Thanks Jason, proud to be a Patreon.
For FT8, I let WSJT-x log all the contacts. Then you can upload that log straight to POTA.app. But for this activation, I also made some SSB contacts afterwards, so I took the WSJT-x log and added it to my WRL log by using ADIF Master. Then I saved that as 1 file and uploaded it to the POTA website. But you can do it either way
Joe Taylor didn't put the 891 in the software, he just uses the hamlib library. Almost every radio is in that library. Hamlib is for cat control regardless of if the radio has a sound card.
@@HamRadio2 Yes, of course. The alternative would be to manually code for every radio. I'm just saying that that the items in the dropdown are all the radios in hamlib and it's about cat control, not audio.
I didn’t see the connections on the back for the digirig. I have the 891’s complimentary ATU attached to the bottom of the radio. Does that use one of the ports necessary to use the digirig? Cordially, Chris KF0KEO
Where in the settings it has mode and the options are none, usb and data/pkt can someone please explain this option and and why to select none? (Ive seen videos with all 3 options!) Thanks :-)
BFO should not be set to AUTO as all digi modes are USB. In Auto, the radio will switch to LSB for 40m and lower freqs which you don't want to have happen.
Time to try it on mine!
Thanks!
I've had that set up for a few weeks now on a Surface pro with windows 11..... it works great!!
Great info! I appreciate the effort you made to provide specific guidance.
That is a nice looking battery box!
I ordered mine this week!
Thanks for doing this for Windows, mine has been working for awhile but I will do some tweaking based on your recommendations.
Thank you so much. This was a big help brother.

DigiRig is a well thought out system.

Hola Jenson 😊
Un saludo cordial desde Barcelona, Cataluña .

Gracias por pasar por aquí
I would love to see something like this for the FTDX 10.
They're working on something
Nice hat!
Let's see some JS8call
Working on that too
I really need to get my shack set up.

I think I've seen that one

Good advice

Dr Pepper Zero! Yes! lol
Jason! Thanks for the video. Which keyboard you using with the tablet? Is there a specific truck mount you know of for the FZ G1? 73 de Bill
There is a specific keyboard made for this tablet. I have never looked for a mobile mount

Joe Taylor used HamLib though

I don't have that ATU so I am not sure what ports it uses, but the DigiRig uses the USB-B and Data ports in the back of the radio
The Yaesu FTM 6000 has a port for digi comms. All mobiles for both U/VHF and HF should have one.
Yes
How do I describe my question. Where did you find the antenna mount on the top of your ft891. Been searching can not find it anywhere. Thank You.
It's an addon to the Armoloq frame
Thank You. I just checked the website.
WRC non silver bullet antennae and some LDG tuners do not like continuous 100w digi modes
Most portable antennas don't, but you can find some that will work 100w FT8
Man I worked you last night and didn't even realize..
Haha
Dr. Pepper. The National Soda Water of Texas!
Yes

Is that an ABR coax connected to the 891?
Yes
Will you make or have you made a video about the Panasonic Toughpad?
I have not. I've included it in a few videos but I will look at making a video specifically about this device
*searches vids for battery box build* :D
Check Mike's channel

But the FT-891 has a USB-port. Why not use it?
The Digirig connects to that port
"Zeyun" not "zeye-ON"
