Lovely 🥰 bird painting 🎉. I have a ton of Beam paints and am waiting on another order. These paints are like little gems and a pleasure to paint with ❤
Thank you! I have been neglecting my Beam Paints and really need to pull them out again soon - thank you for the reminder! I kind of wish I started with the stones.. the cookie is super cute but not always the easiest to work with.
@@briwidmerart The paint stones are an odd creature to store so I have them in a lovely serving dish that I keep on my table like decoration but always handy for painting.
Thank you! Yes! That would be so cool! I don't know how to properly finish/protect the wood, but it would make for a great project. I've also seen someone carve a palette out of a large stone, which was beautiful (but probably so heavy).
I have not performed my own lightfastness testing, nor has Beam Paints (to my knowledge) undergone professional analysis; however, this palette is primarily composed of pigments that are considered to have excellent lightfastness (the warm red and orange use PR170, which is usually listed as good lightfastness). I do have other paints from Beam - the Mayan colors - that are generally not considered to be lightfast from any brand. I have only used Beam Paints in sketchbooks, so unfortunately, I cannot say for certain. One of these days, I really would like to do lightfastness testing on my paints, but I haven't yet. Sorry! I wish I had something more concrete to provide.
I don't plan to travel with this one so the mixing area isn't necessary for me, but I do love the convenience of having one built in, in general. A small flower palette works well though and leaves me with lots of desk space 🙂 Thanks again!
I love the idea, but these paints are sold at Indigo/chapters for WAY too much, the price doesn’t even compare to the highest professional grade paints. $125 for 10 tiny dried up dots. Unbelievable, I just can’t get past the cost. 1yr later- were they worth it?
Holy wow, that is *far* more than I paid for it and I'm sorry to hear that. I definitely wouldn't have been able to justify that price. I paid less than half that during one of her sales (I want to say it was $45-50?). I do love these paints. I think the holes are drilled in a bit so they're deeper than dots, but admittedly, the small "well" size makes it hard to grab a lot of paint. I find them the most fun for smaller paintings when I'm using small brushes, but they can be frustrating when I'm trying to work in larger washes.. I have bought a few of her paint stones, which are larger and easier to work with. But yeah, in the long run, it's just paint and that price would have stopped me from buying it.
Better trying to avoid abusing single use plastics and celebrating products made with local materials that require less shipping of bulk material than spending my time hopping around UA-cam to put others down for doing the bare minimum for wanting to live in a kinder and more respectful world. But to each their own.
I love how you tried out these new "different" watercolours and explained the story and the purpose behind them...the palette is so cute too
Thanks!! I agree, the little wooden palette is so cute and also effective 😊
I could happily listen to you ramble anytime Brian, so glad you left in the ramble! Nice to hear your passion and interest 💖
Aah, thanks! That makes me so happy to hear 😁 More rambly Brians coming soon.
Great job on the bird and the paints are really great! I have one paint stone...a rose gold...lovely. I want some more....one of these days. 😊👍
Thank you, Nancy! I love the Beam Rose Gold. I need to use it more - it's a really beautiful color ❤
That’s dope! I like that the palette is called a mini-cookie.
Ahhh those paints are so so so CUTE. The little cookie!!! I like your rambliness, info-dumping can be fun! Gosh I wanna buy beam paints now...
Thanks, Amber! Really hoping there's another sale soon so I can justify buying more 😁

@@dianaromig732 That's perfect 🥰
Yes there are 12! I ordered 15 paint stones and a large pine palette 🥇
Those palettes are really beautiful! If I had more desk space, I'd love one.
I never thought about using wood for a pallet, now I want to carve my own😯. Love your bird!

I got one of their sets and one discounted cookie…looking forward to trying them…
Ooh, hope they arrive soon and that you love them! 😊
Cute bird 😊
Thank you!
Really informative video 😊🌸
Thank you!
No worries, you didn't talk too much. I like hearing artists babble about their art supplies.
Thank you, Sarah! 😊❤
Are they light fast?

Absolutely beautiful colors!
Edit: I also do not mind the info dumping at all!
Thank you so much!
I love your painting! Using this cookie looks really fun, though you still need a mixing pallet:|

@@briwidmerart desk space is very important, i understand a lack of it.
Oh man I really want some beam paints ; A ; I'm so jelly.
Apparently we need a mailable palette to pass along the discord channel for everyone to test and enjoy 😁

Nice video. Thanks for sharing:)
Thank you, Nadeane! 🙂
All that info was relevant
Not info dumping really. The background of the company was interesting and relevant. Nice bird painting!
Thank you! I'm glad you like it! 😊
Sustainably produced. Ha ha. One born every second.

It’s canvas coated in a wax
👍 It's such a good design!
