Germany has been supplying 1 third of the arms used in an ongoing genocide and violent occupation and they have done so for decades. The students are asking for divestment from their country , the country that helps make what is happening possible. It doesn't have to be "your country" to be your business as a human being to want justice and peace for other human beings.

It is sad that anyone is dying in this conflict, but it is obvious that Hamas couldn't care less about the average Palestinian -- or they would not be using them as human shields. As a Japanese university student, I'm not very familiar with the atmosphere and culture of foreign universities. I'm curious whether the students who engage in such protests represent the majority or just a minority. Also, I wonder if there's a peer pressure aspect where classmates feel compelled to join in such protests due to social conformity.
Most of the people there aren’t even from the university, it’s the same with the protests in the USA. Some are even paid to be there. Considering what’s going on with all the universities across a large part of the world I envy Japan, it must be nice and quiet there. An excellent learning environment. I often dream of visiting Japan but lack the money to afford such a trip. I wouldn’t want to go for just a week, I would like to stay for a whole month to truly experience it.
Situation is different at every university. Do not fall for the bullshit that guy whose comment stands above mine is spreading.
I’m also asian but i follow quite a bit about these protests. A lot of video makers are trying to interview them but they barely can answer about what is really happening, they only follow instructions, they don’t have their own opinion on the situation. I believe this’s just a extremely loud minority and don’t forget that a lot of media also supporting them.

Because if you have been paying attention the massacre would not stop if Hamas gave up and released the hostages. Hamas was just an excuse for Israel to move in and kill indiscriminately.
Plus the conflict DID NOT START ON Oct 7th. It has been going on for decades.

The conflict has been going on for a lot longer than decades, it didn't just start when the Arab armies attacked Israel in their first attempt to wipe out all the Jews in Israel. They had many pogroms against the Jews in the 1930s, 1920s, 1880s etc. etc. You could make the point that they started attacking the Jews in Moh*med's time as he was annoyed that he couldn't persuade them to change their religion.
