There's so much contrast between these two houses! The first, though clearly vacant for years, spoke volumes about love. Someone cared enough about his wife, his mother or maybe just his farm to make this house beautiful. The hard work it took to make the mantels pretty would indicate a man's trying to please his wife. It is stunning and I'm glad you saved it for future generations to see. The decaying and fallen down outbuildings behind the house were evidence of someone wanting to keep his possessions where he could keep an eye on things. It's obvious that this man cared for his farm and was proud of it. The first house holds no air of sadness, except for the gentle sorrow of people leaving their beloved home. The second house speaks only of sadness, of confusion and abandonment, of a woman left alone in a house that was once filled with joy. Instead, that gentle, living soul found itself bereaved, widowed and decaying, like the house itself. She tries to keep things in order, thinking that will lessen the pain, but it doesn't help. The rooms are too quiet now, as his voice no longer rings through their peeling walls. She waits only for the day she leaves her prison of memories to rejoin him. Their clothes still hang in the closet in the hall, carefully protected and waiting for those who will never return. Clearly, she did not plan to leave this house, but to wait where she had been left. How shocked and angered she would be at the ransacking of her once neat home. Desecration was carried out by someone who was searching for what? Money or valuables perhaps? Only the house knows the answer. What a mess someone made in her once carefully arranged kitchen! Sometimes, it seems that the mess in a person's mind leads them to create similar confusion when the opportunity arises. That is certainly evident here! This room was needlessly trashed, every cabinet emptied, every drawer upended just for the malicious glee of an unformed and undisciplined mind. How very sad that someone poured out his anger and energy on this helpless house, which offered no defense from this molestation. The second kitchen is a bit of a puzzle, but may be an attempt to create a summer kitchen. There was no stove in the first room, but I think I glimpsed one in the second. That's the only plausible reason for having two, I think. Kappy, a long time ago, before your parents were born, there was a land where people grew tired of beating the dust from their rugs, tripping over them, of having cold floors in winter. Carpet manufacturers found a solution to these problems which many people liked. It was called "shag carpet," and it was the rage, the answer to the prayers of many a busy housewife back then. Nowadays, in this age of hardwood floors and tile, it seems strange to those who never saw the age of shag carpet in the 1960s and 1970s, but there will come a day when fashions will change again, and people will flock to buy thick carpets for their floors. Everything, dear boy, goes in circles, whether it is clothing, home fashions or flooring. Wait and see whether I'm right. Haha! This house is not evil, folks. It's just terribly sad at the chaos that fills it. That's what upset your keenly feeling young spirit, Kappy. To see someone's possessions broken and strewn about is upsetting. Neither is this house angry. There is no ghost waiting to avenge this sacrilege. There is only the anguish of a gentle, loving spirit at the destruction and desecration of the things that were all she had left, "junk" that she once cherished and held dear. Great houses Kappy! The simplicity of the first house, with very arts and crafts era mantle pieces, was really sweet. To still find a house that never had plumbing is amazing and astonishes me every time. The second house was unique with the 2 chimneys alongside the front door. I still remember screened in porches off the kitchen, so you could cool off while cooking or shuck corn or peas. The big pantries full of canned preserves. A simpler time. Makes me nostalgic.
I know but a total waste because they go through so many other houses and they're just left there and they're beautiful antiques I don't think they should be sitting there getting wasted like you said somebody could be enjoying them and their antiques
Yeah, that second house gave me an uneasy feeling right away.. First house very nice..made me think of happy times with kids out playing, catching fire flies, doing things kids do... 🙂
There is something poetically tragic about these old abandoned houses. Whoever built the first house put their heart and soul into it; incredible word working details. I imagine in its day it was a happy and bustling farm. Those porches provided good relief from the hot and humid summers. It makes me very sad when I hear an old house is being demolished to be replaced by shopping centers or tract housing so was happy to hear this may no be this house's final fate. Let it rest while nature takes back her own. The second house looked used and abused to me. It's original occupants may have stayed behind in spirit and upset by anyone intruding on what used to be their beautiful home. Always trust your gut in these situations. At least the wasps are happy! I loved the turtle; I have turtles too.
Jean Hansel. I agree. These old homes had beautiful, simple lines. The first house( the Crawford house, Crawford being my name had very primitive fireplace surrounds- quite folk artish . We all know what happened as the years went by. People were embarrassed by their old homes-wanted to modernize- then we got to the 70’s where everything that was beautiful was covered- wall panelling, shag carpets, garish cupboards, gold appliances, beautiful elements torn out and covered over. Now, of course people flock to see old historical villages, old homes…. Europe. Sad to see the Crawford house used for storage- probably put up a ‘modern bungalow’ years ago. In the area where l live( eastern Ontario) there’s quite a trend to buy old homes and fix them up. This l love to see!! Housing is a terrible price right now, highest ever! Rent is the same! I’m very lucky. 35 years ago l bought a stone house from 1845- original stone fireplace. Got it cheap back then. When l see some of the prices of houses in parts of the states, l could cry. A house that’s going for 165,00.00 in some states would be 500,000 here! I love travelling in the US. You don’t see abandoned houses around here like you do in the US countryside! Usually I roll my eyes when people say, "oooh, that place is creepy". But I will say, there was something unsettling about that second house. It is a lovely house underneath, though.
The second house a lot can be told by the kitchen at one point it was very well organized and where the lady of the house spent a great deal of time the room he said "stinks" I saw a lot of full jars of preserves sadly over time some probably exploded from temperature changes but even at death she had food laid back from harvest with the piano you can tell at one time the family entertained and it looks like from the Christmas candles on the mantle and the wrapping paper I saw she must have died around Christmas probably right there at home. Sad that her children did not clean out Mom's house and tidy it up. Houses have a story to tell though and we can read a lot in to the way things were left behind. Anna In Ohio

In the second house just before you went upstairs you saw that ornate piece of wood and said I wonder what that was for - that was the cover face plate to the piano.
I am one of the original Urban explorers. I'm 56 years old and when I was 14 I would go into abandoned houses just like you do. Back then there were no cell phones or computers and cameras just took one photo at a time. Of course police were hot on your trail to catch you for trespassing so you had to be very secretive. I would find an abandoned house go in it and clean it up inside and that would be my hideout. I love the way you see the details in the house. I always saw the beauty in the homes and not the mess. There were several times that I did get caught by the police and a few times that I ran really fast and got away. Unfortunately, all those places were torn down long ago. But now I have your channel to watch the next generation of explorer do what was started so many years ago and enjoy your videos. I'm happy to pass the torch on to the younger generation of explorers!

I am always filled with brief sadness, watching these urban explorations. These crumbling houses were once gorgeous homes filled with so much to love, happiness & memories. I think its the emptiness, neglect & abandonment that hits me the hardest. I was born way too late in time...
I wish on some of these old houses that they were someone around that could tell us about who lived here. My family lived here, an aunt, uncle, or whoever. Just some information about what took place here. What crops they grew, did they have bees for honey. This would be an interesting story.
I agree it would be so interesting to know. In my heart and mind it’s hard to understand how and why these old homes are abandoned? Their history, their story shouldn’t just end with the home dying in the wind. 💔
The second home probably had some elderly folks living there , until 1 passes on. The clothes in there were not of this time and fashion. Ty for the tour. Tc and stay safe.
You amaze me every time with the beauty that you see inside the four walls. And the wealth of knowledge to share with your audience. It is always a pleasure to watch your videos. Our farm house dates back to the middle 1800's. A school house was built on the property and the teacher lived in part of the house. The house has had a number of additions added to it over the years. We still heat the house with wood. There is only a dirt crawl space under the original part of the house.
The first house was lovely. I would have liked to see it as it once was. Great proportions. Simplicity. It had an air of quiet and calm. The second house was once pretty. Nice fireplaces, but it was remodeled and messed about with. The two front rooms and upstairs were nice. I so love watching your videos Cappy. Thank you for sharing them with us. Why do people leave so many of their belongings behind when they move out? Is the trashing done by intruders? Kappy, come and live in SA for awhile.... You'll find out how many free loaders come to share your home with you, non human I mean. You learn to be unafraid of them, as most won't interfere with you if you let them be. Mostly the insect family.
Just as wonderful as every time!!! I think those were bees. Wasps have long dangly legs and make papery globes. I've been through some homes of this vintage in NC and have seen honey dripping out of the exterior siding . Crazy. Thanks for the videos. Stay safe.

I can imagine how happy the first owners were when they moved into these homes. I felt a little uncomfortable in the second home also. I lived in N.C. from 1965 to 1972. There was a treasure chest of these homes being lived in then and some empty also. Thanks, Kappy!👍
The hay makes for a comfortable home for a lonely homeless animal. House #2 was pretty cool. I would love to go through that kitchen stuff. The living room with the shutters. It reminds me of the old movie "Night of the Living Dead" Yes, gave me the heebeejeebees too

That second house... had a haunted vibe to it, especially after your audio cut out. I'll bet the owners died of old age and the kid(s) started to pack things up but stopped for some reason. Maybe because the ghosts didn't like it. lol You're a brave man, Kappy. I don't think I'd have gone into most of those rooms.
I love those porches !! And those doors with the side lights !! 😳 that wainscotting was sweet and that little back porch was a slice of heaven. Love the old metal roof and those mantles upstairs were cool !! That upstairs porch was amazing !! That second home had a really cool fireplace. I get the feeling this was a older persons home all the jars of canned items and judging by the furniture a older woman I assume from the clothes as well . I bet back in the her day that porch was the best . I loved the Turtle at the end Great work Kappy as always !!👍👍
Both interesting finds. Can you imagine how hot it was to sleep upstairs in those houses back then? I wonder if they stayed up late and “fed the mosquitos” on the porch until it cooled down a bit. That last one in the upcoming at the end looks really cool. All the best. Stay safe.

Hi Kappy. I liked the fact that in the first house the bead board around the bottom was cut at an angle instead of straight up and down.Made it unique. I wonder where all the plaster disappeared to on the first floor ? There was none on the floors that I could see . It's almost as if they knew you were coming and spruced the place up.🤣 I could easily see back in the day someone sitting out on the upstairs veranda sipping a mint julep in the summertime. BTW what you saw on the floor in the second house @ 16:55 was the front of the piano. Keep these gems coming Kappy and stay safe. Peace. 🙂

That first house was awesome...all the way to the exposed rafters to the lathe. Looks like it was almost back to the original wood it was made of. Kinda sad it's going to be torn down. It has a story to tell.

The second house a lot can be told by the kitchen at one point it was very well organized and where the lady of the house spent a great deal of time the room he said "stinks" I saw a lot of full jars of preserves sadly over time some probably exploded from temperature changes but even at death she had food laid back from harvest with the piano you can tell at one time the family entertained and it looks like from the Christmas candles on the mantle and the wrapping paper I saw she must have died around Christmas probably right there at home. Sad that her children did not clean out Mom's house and tidy it up. Houses have a story to tell though and we can read a lot in to the way things were left behind. Anna In Ohio

In the second house just before you went upstairs you saw that ornate piece of wood and said I wonder what that was for - that was the cover face plate to the piano.

I am one of the original Urban explorers. I'm 56 years old and when I was 14 I would go into abandoned houses just like you do. Back then there were no cell phones or computers and cameras just took one photo at a time. Of course police were hot on your trail to catch you for trespassing so you had to be very secretive. I would find an abandoned house go in it and clean it up inside and that would be my hideout. I love the way you see the details in the house. I always saw the beauty in the homes and not the mess. There were several times that I did get caught by the police and a few times that I ran really fast and got away. Unfortunately, all those places were torn down long ago. But now I have your channel to watch the next generation of explorer do what was started so many years ago and enjoy your videos. I'm happy to pass the torch on to the younger generation of explorers!

I am always filled with brief sadness, watching these urban explorations. These crumbling houses were once gorgeous homes filled with so much to love, happiness & memories. I think its the emptiness, neglect & abandonment that hits me the hardest.
I was born way too late in time...
I would love to own this house !!! I would fix it up n live in it happily forever !!!!!
I wish on some of these old houses that they were someone around that could tell us about who lived here. My family lived here, an aunt, uncle, or whoever. Just some information about what took place here. What crops they grew, did they have bees for honey. This would be an interesting story.
I agree it would be so interesting to know. In my heart and mind it’s hard to understand how and why these old homes are abandoned? Their history, their story shouldn’t just end with the home dying in the wind. 💔

So many beautiful fire places, and the porches, they always seem to be together in those homes.
The second home probably had some elderly folks living there , until 1 passes on. The clothes in there were not of this time and fashion. Ty for the tour. Tc and stay safe.

You amaze me every time with the beauty that you see inside the four walls. And the wealth of knowledge to share with your audience. It is always a pleasure to watch your videos. Our farm house dates back to the middle 1800's. A school house was built on the property and the teacher lived in part of the house. The house has had a number of additions added to it over the years. We still heat the house with wood. There is only a dirt crawl space under the original part of the house.

It's always interesting to see the few things that are left behind in these old places. I love seeing the old exercise bike.
The first house was lovely. I would have liked to see it as it once was. Great proportions. Simplicity. It had an air of quiet and calm.
The second house was once pretty. Nice fireplaces, but it was remodeled and messed about with. The two front rooms and upstairs were nice.

Why do people leave so many of their belongings behind when they move out? Is the trashing done by intruders? Kappy, come and live in SA for awhile.... You'll find out how many free loaders come to share your home with you, non human I mean. You learn to be unafraid of them, as most won't interfere with you if you let them be. Mostly the insect family.

Just as wonderful as every time!!! I think those were bees. Wasps have long dangly legs and make papery globes. I've been through some homes of this vintage in NC and have seen honey dripping out of the exterior siding . Crazy. Thanks for the videos. Stay safe.

I can imagine how happy the first owners were when they moved into these homes. I felt a little uncomfortable in the second home also. I lived in N.C. from 1965 to 1972. There was a treasure chest of these homes being lived in then and some empty also. Thanks, Kappy!👍

Pretty neat that the plaster is all missing downstairs but lath boards are all pretty much in good shape and un-touched.

That second house... had a haunted vibe to it, especially after your audio cut out. I'll bet the owners died of old age and the kid(s) started to pack things up but stopped for some reason. Maybe because the ghosts didn't like it. lol You're a brave man, Kappy. I don't think I'd have gone into most of those rooms.
I love those porches !! And those doors with the side lights !! 😳 that wainscotting was sweet and that little back porch was a slice of heaven. Love the old metal roof and those mantles upstairs were cool !! That upstairs porch was amazing !! That second home had a really cool fireplace. I get the feeling this was a older persons home all the jars of canned items and judging by the furniture a older woman I assume from the clothes as well . I bet back in the her day that porch was the best . I loved the Turtle at the end Great work Kappy as always !!👍👍
Both interesting finds. Can you imagine how hot it was to sleep upstairs in those houses back then? I wonder if they stayed up late and “fed the mosquitos” on the porch until it cooled down a bit. That last one in the upcoming at the end looks really cool. All the best. Stay safe.

Hi Kappy. I liked the fact that in the first house the bead board around the bottom was cut at an angle instead of straight up and down.Made it unique. I wonder where all the plaster disappeared to on the first floor ? There was none on the floors that I could see . It's almost as if they knew you were coming and spruced the place up.🤣 I could easily see back in the day someone sitting out on the upstairs veranda sipping a mint julep in the summertime. BTW what you saw on the floor in the second house @ 16:55 was the front of the piano. Keep these gems coming Kappy and stay safe. Peace. 🙂

That first house was awesome...all the way to the exposed rafters to the lathe. Looks like it was almost back to the original wood it was made of. Kinda sad it's going to be torn down. It has a story to tell.
