- In this vlog I'm going to levuka with Josese, Jekobe and my cousin Jone. Jone is my tavale who just moved back to the village and lives with momo Saula and Josese.
We are going to levuka to buy Ice that we are going to use in the village to store fish that Josese, Jone and momo Saula are going to catch during the week.
This vlog is showcasing what the villagers do to get the ice from Levuka town and all the way back to the village. In levuka we go and buy the necessary things for the ice before we go back to the village.

Some history. For the benefit of our o/seas friends, Levuka (on the island of Ovalau) was Fiji's first capitial. The buildings on the main street go back to the mid 1800s. The early European Settlers in Levuka built shops, meeting halls, police stations, a church and a chapter of the Ku Klux Klan, (yep the KKK!!). The villages in the hills (the Lovoni people) fought bravely to get the European occupiers off their Island & for 30 yrs, the European settlers at Levuka lived under the constant threat by the Lovoni fighters. In 1871, they were defeated and Cakobau (who was on the side of the white fellas) sold the entire tribe of Lovoni into servitude and @ £3 per head, he made £1,100. That's over 350 people! Many were taken by merchants to Taveuni & Lau, others were dispersed elsewhere. Their crime: Waging war agaist European colonialism. Yes, Levuka was also a slave port.

Nice to see another vlog back in the village. Is the baby kuku little brother so cute. Kuku is my favourite poor little fellow always getting a tap on his head 😢.Can you do a blog introducing everyone and how you are related to each other including all the girls,women and children. Who is kukus mother and father really interested in how big the extended family is in the village and how are you all related. My husband and I always check everyday to see if you have dropped another vlog look forward to watching take care all of you

Uraia, do fijians eat the stuff that comes out of the sea cucumber? That's a delicacy for samoan people.. open up the sea cucumber n empty the contents coming out of the cucumber into a bowl or clean plastic container. Once all cucumbers emptied out, thats it..if you are going to sell it at market, then find glass empty coke bottles n cleanse it well..then u start putting contents from the bowl into it along with the juice..do this until all is gone from the bowl..i know they look like long worms, but u don't know what you're missing.. Enjoy just like that and real good with baked or boiled taro or breadfruit straight from the umu..You n your boys have to try it..use a toothpick to get it out from bottle..ENJOY BROs..manuia..

Wakaya is the only Island in Fiji which has Deer 🦌 on it. I was working there couple of years ago and I saw them running around. Deer meat is awsome.

LEVUKA the first Capital ... btw you should sell your sea cucumbers, lobsters etc to Kims Pak-kum long - they serve some of the most authentic Asian dishes in Levuka. Next time when you are in Levuka, go for a hike up to the Peak, you will enjoy it
