At long last someone has done a review on a class 800 and the words ironing board were not mentioned once. Like you I find the seats on the 800's perfectly adequate and the legroom is far superior to that of it's predecessor. I do find the 1st class catering on GWR to be inferior to that on LNER especially the cardboard cups for hot drinks and the poor excuse of a snack box instead of a decent sandwich. Great review looking forward to the next one.
I fully agree. I would expect a sandwich, Pipers crisps and a slice of cake as the very least if I was paying for a 1st class ticket. The managers should ensure that there is enough stock of sandwiches to go round. Virgin used to have very good catering on the West Coast mainline no matter what time of day. Not sure if Avanti are any good though?
I always thought it was the plastic panels shaking not the window blinds, well spotted! I think a proper first class should be curtains not window blinds, the IET first class is ok but rubbish for journey's longer than 1 hour.
But why does GWR (Great Western Railway) have the Class 800 and Class 802 IETs that look exactly the same. I have been to Bath and it’s a lovely city and the station is amazing and beautiful.
This video was entertaining and helpful. Thanks for showing the contents of the snack box.

They do offer sandwiches but they’re first come first serve so usually aren’t available to all passengers in first class, not good.

802s more powerful and better for the Cornwall /Devon routes
@@therealjdog6029 Ah right. 👍
The 802s are supposed to be able to cope with sea water in the Dawlish area
Wedge a bit of folded up cardboard or paper under the bottom of the blind
Why would I be surprised for having great service in first class?
nice video but its not a 802 its an 800
Great job, I enjoyed your video! Just subscribed too! I am looking forward to more!
Thank you 😊
Gave up after 4 minutes i hate videos without commentary
I like this kind of video, makes a change from hearing someones voice all the time
Personally, I prefer to watch videos muted anyway.
