The age-old adage: change is the only constant. Nice to see in evidence that bikes in bikelane however narrow, outnumber the cars. On another note: All these Paris videos are making me want to go to Paris and cycle throughout the city.
Good to see the municipality of Paris is converting the 'Covid lanes' into save permanent bicycle lanes! They really needed improvement and because a lot of people started cycling during the pandemic and did not return to the Metro or car, the budget to do this is justified. I hope they develop a traffic circulation plan that makes the city accessible for supplies and safe for bicycles. It would take away some of the frustration and retaliatory behavior of those who deliver goods in the cité!
I rode a narrow 1-way street without a bike lane the wrong way for a km, stopped cars actually moved a bit to give me room to go past! What an amazing city to ride a bike.
Make your city a bicycle city. Talk to your elected officials and transportation planners and ask for more protected bike lanes and trails. Send them a link of some great examples of cities with good bicycle infrastructure.
wow that last one does not loook safe at all! And still so many people use that middle street paint lane. That alone should tell you how much proper bike infrastructure is needed.
It's cute to watch. Compared to the Netherlands its still pretty barren. It would probably help to paint the lanes a different asphalt like we do in the Netherlands. And to get rid of the cars entirely, and make the entire Rue de Rivoli a bicycle street, and get rid of the directions. Emergency services can use the cycling lanes, and people will be far safer. Add in some greenery and larger sidewalks and everybody wins. Except for the cars, but they can go drive elsewhere.
> It would probably help to paint the lanes a different asphalt like we do in the Netherlands It can't be done in Paris due to architectural regulation (it'd be vetoed by the powers that be), hence the lack of color
What France now needs to do is to give their bike lanes a special color for visual language.. Any color in mind French folks?. I´m glad that cycling has taken off in Paris from a Dutch standpoint. I hope if all of Europe is starting to make cycling easier, that we can see a cycling connected lanes from country to country within the EU.
It does seem like much of the northern half of the US is starting to see the need for more bike infrastructure. While many of these aren’t yet able to make full streets for bikes only, there have been many cities creating fully protected bike lanes recently. Change is happening slowly, but the push for it is still there
If you really look into it, car centric arguments fall apart very quickly, because it was just the way it was with out question. To put it bluntly a car does nothing more than create a very expensive hazard that gives nothing in return and a waste of space
7:14 Mopeds have a wretched sound. Their form and utility is pretty good for cities I think but their sound and pollution is the problem. I hope electric mopeds replace gas ones. Electric cars are still cars but electric mopeds seem tolerable to me. Definitely not as good as bikes but close.
How about replacing the urban freeways that go through the old city of Paris to boulevards which would be open to all traffic but would restore the traditional street grid. While the removal of the pmpidou expressway was an amazing success the remainig asphalt particularly on the new bikeway needs to be removed in order to restore the Paris riverfront to the way it looked in the 1800s. Pedestrians and bicyclists will have to yield to pedestrians but that shouln't be a problem. However the upper freeway on the Trocodaro side of the Siene needs to be replaced by a boulevard with protected bike infrastructure. All tunnels and overpasses will be replaced by restored historic at grade intersections.
Still a lot of traffic noise. There need to be much bigger efforts to reduce traffic noise. Noisy motorcycles, scooters, mopeds should be banned and replaced with electric. Car and van tyres should be redesigned to make less noise, and maybe the road surfacing. Best solution of course is eliminate cars entirely.
Yeah it irks me everytime to hear mopeds in these videos (and real life). There's even a funny clip by life sized city where the noises cut him off mid speech ua-cam.com/users/shortsKVyABXpa1HM
Happy to see that the few lanes are used so intensively: now the town hall will feel the pressure to add many more lanes.
Exactly, keep the pressure up to install more bike lane, as an avalanche effect.
Hi Mark how are you doing 😊

Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it regularly.
Bravo Paris! Cycling is emancipation for people.

The mayor of Paris is the best mayor of any major city in the world right now.
I love Streetfilms! And seeing Paris get better everytime you cover it!
That's very nice. Thank you.
Cool, I hope it continues in cities across the globe. Fun to see the dutch dude on a Dutch style bike.
Goed gedaan! Ik verheug me op mijn volgende reis naar Parijs. Well done! I am look forward to my next trip to Paris.
“Space for the bicycle in the head” is a lovely concept.
Loved it. I have a 1999 paris public bicycle. Complete.
Way forward 👍
Awesome video, more bikes please!
Great job. Can’t wait to visit

I love this channel I love this video I love Paris and I freaking love bicycles

Yep. Very dangerous
very beautiful city

You cannot compare Paris to Netherlands. A very very dense city with few large streets.
Also: they ARE getting rid of 50% of all parking spots in the next 3 or 4 years. That will definitely help. And they are just getting started.
> It would probably help to paint the lanes a different asphalt like we do in the Netherlands

@@StreetfilmsCommunity I think Paris should only get rid of 10% of current parking spaces to balance livability and drivability.
Bravo.
Me hubiera gustado escuchar más de Paris disfrutándolo en el paseo en bicicleta, que estar escuchando todo el video acerca de bicicletas.

Une très bonne chose pour Paris
Très bon reportage
Get the city moving :) well put
This is what civilization looks like to me. Removing cars is an actual breath of fresh air.
I know of nothing like this in the USA where I live.

But same parts in the US do make improvements on cycling.
We are planning to cycle through Paris on our vacations in the next days, how difficult is it to rent a bicycle in Paris?
Ahhhh REV
Now i know where Montréal got it’s bike network name from

You should come to Minneapolis Minnesota and see how Americans are doing bicycle transportation.
You mean like this as I did about a month ago? ua-cam.com/video/CY8-sIlrvxE/v-deo.html
There ya go.
👌👏👏👏

Kudos to Ms Hidalgo.

Can you comment on hilly areas? And please comment on winter/snow. And emergency vehicles. THESE are the arguments in many American areas.

Never waste a good crisis.
mans seat is too low
Ppxzli nada glándulas
My man needs a taller bike
I think the cars and taxis should be banned and be given to the buses.
не можна їздити на велосипеді крутити педалі не розгинаючі ніг, це шкодить суглобам, сідло треба вище ставити
Why are there no fat people visible in this video?
