I'm revisiting sudoku after a 30 year break and appreciate your simple, explanations. I also appreciate how hard it must be to put yourself on the spot every day, and then be told how much faster it could be solved and where you took a wrong turn. I rarely even get close to your times let alone beat them, although I doubt thats any comfort!
Hi Rangsk. I have found your walkthroughs very helpful. For the first time ever I did complete in a quicker time than you. I saw the 8 in row 8 and ploughed through. Thanks for your sudoku content.
It always helps watching you solve, even when it takes you a longer time. I'm very grateful you decide to post this videos without cutting any parts. I mean... the only reason I was able to find that 278 triple was because you taught me that. 😆 I think you also had the 8s in box 8 aligning with the 8s in box 9, so the 8 in box 6 had to be in row 8.
Merry Christmas, when you found the quad in box 7, I found the 8 could only go in one place in Row 8, so even though my time was slightly faster than yours, I could not have it done without you!
Yep. Leaving the cornemarks for the 8s might have made this more obvious. (Also it's not a classic X-wing, being limited to two boxes. I'd call this aligning 8s.)
Almost 14 minutes. NYT got serious. No more easy puzzles. Funny, I didn't notice the pointing 5's on columns 8 and 9 but I did see a hidden triple for box 9 😂
@@Rangsk Love your work, you've really helped me improve. It's when the 8s in column 6 were corner marked, they lined up with the 18 pair in column 7, placing the 8 in row 8. I think the excitement of the quad in box 8 lead to missing the follow up😆

I always learn something from puzzles/solves like this. Thanks.
Happy Christmas Rangsk x
I used the x wing on 8,s in col 6&7 to place the 8 in row 8 and then it fell apart. Merry Christmas all and thanks Rangsk for the puzzles.

Merry Christmas Mr. Rangsk. Fast or slow, I enjoy and learn from your solves. Thank you
At 8:40 there is an x-wing on 29 (in box 1 and 2) with an extra 3 in left upper corner. With the principle of uniqness this must be a 3
You missed the X-wing on 8s at the bottom.
There were many clues on this puzzle. Overfilling the puzzle clouds judgement.
Uniqueness in band 1 on 29 and 239 in box 1 could also be used.

If I recall, I don't think he uses those techniques but he will talk about them like the UR.
@@Sg190th Not the X wing proper. Aligning cornermarks in two boxes he does use (and are needed in the NYT sudoku.)
X-wings must be in 4 boxes to be considered a real x-wing. What I missed is a hidden single 8 in r8.
23:27. Took me forever to find the 8 in box 7. Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the video, great as ever, even with a newburn in the house you manage better than most, kol hakavod :)
Happy Holidays!
6:23 - one of the easiest so far. NYT tick in box 9, c7 opened up the puzzle.
11 for me, felteasy for once, thanks rangsk!
R8C3, 15:34 is hidden 8
Merry Christmas! 9:24 for me.
5.59.. Went smoothly this time
12:31 to solve.
22:36 for me.

We don't do X-wing in NYT.......... .
You could place the 8 in row 8 from minute 12.
X-wings must be in 4 different boxes to be considered a real x-wing. What you're seeing is a hidden single 8 in r8, not really an x-wing.
