@@shibinmiqbal ah yes the proximity censor does bugs out quite a lot, the screen goes black very easily, it can get pretty annoying sometimes but if you don't want that too happen you just need to face the front of the phone towards the ceiling when you're hearing audios on whatsapp or something among the lines that blacks out the screen, the phone quality is pretty decent I don't usually call anyone, I'd rather message them but when I do call them it's pretty nice!
Personally the fingerprint sensor on the power button is my favorite placement. For one, it solves 2 problems at once because it means that you can easily access the phone even with a Mask on (Since its covid) and being able to only use your thumb to Open and Unlock the Phone as soon as you touch the fingerprint. My Realme 6 Pro has the same placement and I love it! Anyway, nice review! Am really considering to switch to this phone :D
I have tried phones with the fingerprint sensor under the screen and phones with the sensor on the back. I find Xiaomi's choice of a side mounted sensor is the most convenient for me. Face unlock is not very secure btw.
I moved from iPhone to Android several years ago - there is no contest! Even fairly basic Android phones beat most iPhones and are much cheaper..... I've recently bought the Poco F3 and am very pleased with it. As others have said, face unlock is old news on android - been available for years....
Got one used for £180. It's so bloody fast and the only issue I've had is the app drawer glitching. Haven't had any issues with passwords and the icons look really nice compared to Xiaomi's usual MiUI. Gaming on this phone gets easy 55 to 60 FPS on COD mobile with Max graphics and there is a lot of settings for software preferences if you look for them. I compared it to a family members OnePlus 8 Pro and the camera quality was very similar but the F3 was lacking in zoom compared to the 8 Pro. The Snapdragon 870 (the CPU in the F3) is the second fastest in an Android only behind the flagship 888 so in my opinion even if you get it for about £300 still a steal.
SAME Recently was looking for an upgrade as I could sell my previous android for about 100 Found someone selling the F3 for 180 new and I bought it, it's a night and day difference and only paid about 80 pounds for it!!!

What's wrong with the battery? It doesn't beat the iphone 11 in screen time? It should, but I don't know. I mean if it gets 7 hours SOT, thats enough for me, considering it has a charger, and it is a 33 watt one. So a charge shouldn't take long.
If I switch it from 120hz to 60hz it literally gets me 13-15 hours SOT. (1080p UA-cam, light gaming and web browsing with 50% screen brightness) That is about double what iPhone 11 gets. If you are near the charger keep it at 120 Hz, if you need to conserve battery switch it to 60. Only downside with this phone is that if you get unlucky, you don't get properly calibrated screen. (My screen shows whites as very slightly yellowish at medium brightness) They promised to fix it with update, but hasn't happened yet. Adding manual white balance setting would solve it.

This is very nice phone. But I just recently bought Poco X3 Pro and check that phone - price is ridiculous and SoC, RAM etc is great. Xiaomi/poco is really making a dent in phone industry
It's pronounced as Me-UI, mate, not My-UI...MIUI is supposed to be a heavy software skin on top of Android which will offer you many tweaks but will never leave you without bugs. Updates will sort them out but will also allow bringing bugs in a congratulatory manner that will be fixed in later updates, LOL! Anyway, Xiaomi is the type of company who offers superb value for money since its inception. So, the hardware that you will get can never be found in other devices from other companies. But their problem lies in the bad management of their UI, AKA MIUI! I use Mi5 for the past 4.5 years, so I'm quite used to it and I've never been a fan of Stock Android but many, many customers prefer a simple, bug-free Android experience that Xioami has mostly failed to offer. This is where phone companies like One Plus or Samsung have excelled a lot despite pricing them much higher than Xiaomi's. General consumers won't take the hassle of changing ROMs, so they'll go to the company which offers them hassle free ROM experience. If Xiaomi can better manage their software which I believe they should, they can rule the smartphone industry just for the incredible value they offer, especially in the midrange and flagship killer segments.
I wouldn't recommend face unlock on android. Most (if not all) use camera, which theoretically easy to bypass. IPhone face unlock use infrared sensor (maybe one of the reason they don't go notch) which make it more reliable. The fingerprint sensor it definitely a better option.
1:35 But it is splashproof so it should be fine in the rain or if you spill something on it. I've seen people submerging it in water for a few minutes and it was still just fine.
Nice detailing Pete.. I am using one now, one more issue that I notice Amazon prime videos playing in SD instead of HD though phone has support for widevine L1.. Do you have that issue? Anyhow, thanks for the video.. nice representation!!
You can choose which apps you want on dark mode. YT already has its own dark mode. And yeah, it pretty annoying for some apps that looks like inverted.
Exactly. But it's way more streamlined now. I use Poco F1 and it has an IR blaster for face unlock. Which means, face unlock in dark. This is one feature of my phone that I am going to miss.
I always go for the biggest screen. If I'm watching Netflix while I wait, I want a bigger screen. I could care less if my thumb can't reach the top right of the screen. Modern phones are mostly used for audio visual consumption and that requires a larger screen.
Me watching on my MI 11X (Indian Varient of The same poco f3) and I can safely say that the dark mode issue was there in Spotify for me. Ive switched only Spotify to light mode and everything's fine. The difference between the Indian Varient and the f3 is NFC and 5g bands ig.. overall really satisfied with the phone and let me tell u the custom rom development is also booming for f3..
Isn't Mi11X more expensive too? Especially when you take the storage into consideration? I was waiting for the Mi11x to launch to order it from India but i was surprised by the difference in spec and price. If the 8/128 gb Mi11x was cheaper than 8/256 gb F3 i would have gone for the 11x. But that's not the case, is it?
I'm getting one today , I had a redme note ten pro , which was pretty good , but I thought I might well spend a bit more and try the f3, I don't care about the camara being weak , and I got the 256gb version so lack of sdcard shouldn't be a problem , if the os is problem I will root and install a custom ROM

@@spanneng the Realme GT will be even cheaper by then and has a hj. The F3 GT will basically be the same phone with shoulder trigger buttons for gaming. The Realme's camera will still be slightly better, also.

1. Which iPhone are you comparing the Poco F3 to (budget, mid-range, or high-end model)? You seem to jump around to different iPhones (which weakens your review). 2. No such thing as wireless charging because the charging pad has a wire. 3. You mean freshwater resistance because saltwater and pool water are not covered. 4. Android smartphones have had face recognition starting in 2014. 5. Why no mention of developer options (e.g., closing background apps) that increases battery life in all Android smartphones. 6.
I don't know why people stick with the iphone so much....there's so much more out there, and with android you so much more customization apps etc.
You do realise that the face unlock is not very secure, and most reviews advise not to use em, and the side finger print reader is lightning-fast
You can't scratch your screen with those metal buttons...those scratches are because of small dusr particles which are harder than than glass...
The battery life is actually good it provides 10hrs total when using games, tiktok, youtube,Netflix pretty impressive
"It's so easy getting passwords from Chrome" ok, do it on a live stream.
Face unlock on Android was way before iphone x had. Although different techniques but still
Exactly. But it's way more streamlined now. I use Poco F1 and it has an IR blaster for face unlock. Which means, face unlock in dark. This is one feature of my phone that I am going to miss.
this metal button will not scrach your gorilla glass. Maybe plastic.
It's a dirt who does all sorts of scratches to your phone's screen.
it also has the bug when u turn on dark mode and lowest your brightness to 0 percent the mysterious black appear
Maybe that's your phone, haven't seen any screen issue on my phone
@@enigmamyth so i buy a bad unit on this phone
Just curious. Why do you use your phone at 0 brightness? I tried it now and found it straining my eyes.
Dark mode issue also on my redmi note 10 pro
That's what I'm doing. I'm between arrow Os and pixel experience. From what I'm hearing pixel experience is better
Lucky you got the blue one I'm about to get mine cant wait
Pretty much a main reason for me to get that phone is the fingerprint scanner on the side, so convenient
You can get a Realme GT 5g, brand new, for around $329.99. that phone is a beast, as well. It's basically a rebranded Poco phone with slightly better cameras
well then there will be poco f3 gt too afaik
@@spanneng the Realme GT will be even cheaper by then and has a hj. The F3 GT will basically be the same phone with shoulder trigger buttons for gaming. The Realme's camera will still be slightly better, also.
Are you sure about the price? I read Realme GT 5g will have SD 888 which is flagship. A phone with SD888 at 330 will be flagship mass murderer.
One more thing, Realme is a sub brand of Oppo and Poco is a sub brand of Xiaomi. Saying realme is a rebranded Pocophone is just wrong. It's like saying Samsung S21 is a rebranded oneplus 9.
@@shibinmiqbal they're way more similar, in terms of functionality, than the S21 and OP9, but I was referring to the Realme GT Neo for $329.99, the CN variant. Cheap pick up just to do a review, but doesn't have all the bands needed for reliable 4G or 5G in North America. The Realme GT Neo does floating and multi-window more similar to the Xiaomi does them. It's more like a OP9 that stole some Xiaomi features.
Does this also apply to the F3 GT or only to the F3?
Great review Pete! Looks like an ideal phone to replace my old Note 9 that my son has (but broke!). But why avoid Last Pass - maybe you've explained in another vid, but I've been using it for years, is there a problem with it?
Can you tell I am a bit confused
Samsung galaxy note 9 or
Redmi note 9
@@greenesyt563 He Said "Old note 9" so technically I'm guessing he's talking about the Galaxy Note 9
Also he said he's gonna replace the Phone with poco and the Redmi Note 9 is cheaper and the Galaxy Note 9 is more expensive so I guess yeah Galaxy Note 9 it is
@@RyanUniverseZ yep samsung are possibly most expensive androids out there. Then it would be samsung galaxy note 9
Watching this video on MI 11X/ POCO F3/ Redmi K40 in India.
I hope I get to exchange it to get an F3 or even an upcoming Redmi K50 with more 5G bands when I finally reach the UK next year!
I got the 8gb ram 256 gb deep ocean blue.
Yeah, the jean button got mine too... thank goodness for the pre-applied screen protector
I got my f3 last year and to be honest the lack of headphone jack really bothers me, memc works 70% of the time and it really drains the battery, poximity sensor is a mess, ultra wide camera is pretty below average ,game space is a gimmick for me but regardless it's a great device overall i got more than it's worth
Do you experience many bugs? Like apps crashing, buggy UI those sort of things? I'm thinking of getting a Xiaomi but I hear alot about it's buggy MIUI but there's also some people where they encounter no issues at all.
How did you disable the "swipe to unlock" on it ???? I can't find any options in the setting menu 😭
Watching it on my Artic white at the moment.
That color is stunning
How do you see the phone?. Do you like it and is it recommendable???. I want to buy it
Needed this review! Thanks Pete!
the one camera on SE is miles better than all the cameras of f3 combined
trust me i have used both as primary
I have the F3 and idk why my yt videos don't pop up any fix?
Bought it for £244 from poco store in UK. Arrived in 2 days.
I am interested how Poco F3 screen behaves through polarised glasses? Is it dimmed in any rotation? Thanks
I subscribed for this.. also you should try Realme GT, Redmi K40 Pro, Redmi K40 Pro+.. these are the phone that pretending they are mid ranger while they have flagship features with mid range price
Hey, I'm new to the channel, but I enjoy your videos( u got a new subscriber).
This series is really interesting, to see you trying out android phones. Now my question is: What do you think about the android 12? Would you like more these phones running it?
@@PeteMatheson Happy to hear that! I'm waiting for your review 😁 thanks for answering woo
That dark mode can be turned off from the system and On it from the app, It will work
I did the same, ill never regret it
Im an F2 Pro user ..... The F3 with SD 870 seems to be a monster
I switched from XSMAX to Mi 11. I was like finally I got FREEDOM......
Ever noticed how many reviewers have the Tesla app on their smartphones? Do they all drive a Tesla car or is it just something that looks cool?
@@PeteMatheson interesting, thank you for the clarification.
5. Why no mention of developer options (e.g., closing background apps) that increases
battery life in all Android smartphones.
6. Before you say iPhones aren't buggy, goto Reddit to read all the complaints...lol
I thought i played video in 1.5x speed, speedy talk mate 😅
@@PeteMatheson its okay its funny though
My colleagues often asks me how could afford this, afford that... Well you guys paying 60-70 pounds a month for a iPhone I only paying about 20 pounds a month for a Xiaomi phone. Of course I can afford more gadgets.
3:16 He wishes that he had it on IPhone!!!!!!!!!
A hit for IPhone!!!!
If i ask you to choose between poco f3 and mi 10t pro. What is your choice base on specs and performance?. Will wait for your answer. Thank you
How many videos will you use the title lifelong iphone user? Youve used this quite a lot so its safe to say you're not a lifelong iphone user
Why would you leave the sticker on for beauty shots i just don't get it.
how to activate picture in picture for youtube? i can't do it in my f3 🤔
It might be a posetive thet it has more cameras than an iphone se but mate you have to mention that the cameras are utter garbage in compareson to the one camera on the se. I'm not an apple fan boy nor an android hater I have had 5 xiaomi phones and am right now rocking a oneplus 8t just so you know my perspective. By this I dont mean that xiamoi has bad cameras the mi 11 ultra is class leading, its just that they are very happy to cut that corner in the lower budgets. Great video otherwise :)
Great review, Thanks ☺️
What are you saying? Android had face unlock since years ago, way before iPhone
A custom ROM should fix the issue with the software
I don’t go to android because don’t have speak selection , iMovie integration that all make me stay on iOS
Lmao that metal button on the jeans 👖. Relatable 💯
Do Poco F3 owners have dimming issue here ???
If they put an above average camera on this pne like mi10t pro then this is, hands down the best android of the year.
I got mine ,and it's heating constantly specially when charging
4:56 that's just about opinion my phone has it and I love it
I honestly don’t know why you don’t have more subscribers. Love your content and your videography!
does green tint issue fixed? it appears when u put lowest brightness
The secret is to use your iPhone for your daily driver (calls, messages, mail, social media) and the Poco as your entertainment/gaming phone.
I'ma just go for Realme GT 5G. Just because of that 3.5mm jack.. and yes I'm not a fan of MIUI..
From Oppo.. to OnePlus.. to Apple.
Having OnePlus6 with XR.. Getting my hands on Realme GT later on
