Very clear and easy to follow video. I find that it is just the right speed and amount of repitiition. There are pinyin and Chinese characters and English making it a lot easier to follow than many of the other Mandarin videos on UA-cam. In addition, Yishang makes it interesting and funny to learn. Thanks for making these videos and keep up the good work!

when u learn only 2 words a day it will make 730 words a year. while learning words, ull understand gramma. no language is hard when u take time. low and slow works good and shows that its even possible to learn Mandarin, when u keep up.

I learned this stuff recently following a textbook, but I've learned one other language before and these are all useful when you start. With Spanish, in the beginning, I didn't understand shit lol si when you know how to ask people to repeat themselves, or speak slowly, it's like a get out of jail free card. I'm good now with Spanish, but I don't expect to understand natives in Mandarin anytime too soon, but who knows. As long as I keep learning I can't get any worse.

When you say “I can speak a little Chinese”, I have also heard the phrase “wo huì shuō yì dian dian” (sorry I don’t have all the tone symbols). I can see the similarities but what is the difference between that and saying “yì dianr”?

Good question! Yì diǎnr means a little bit, and yì diǎnr diǎnr means a tiny bit.
