The scariest part is that Roberto Carlos WAS going for goal. This wasn’t an accidental. He saw an opportunity, and went for a goal where no one dares to go for a goal. Absolute legend. Greatest. Goal. Period.

I consider this the most impressive goal of all time. A long free kick unguarded with a still ball is one thing, but this was at a much higher difficulty level that most professionals couldn't even come close to copying, especially with their weak foot
The left foot is not his weak foot, however the fact that he did bend a moving ball that he was chasing to bend it towards the goal with such incredible power at that negligible angle with an out-swinger while he was in full flight is quite miraculous.
@ceedub619cameraman3damn. It's interesting to think about how many great people get crushed by obstacles before they achieve greatness. Hope life is better now man.

The free kick against France was exceptional.. the French team had more than ample time to plan their defense. And it STILL didn't matter. Fabien Barthez couldn't even move to stop that scorcher.
And people say it's a fluke 😂 It's like when I used to take a free kick with my mates and got it in the basketball hoop, everyone said it was a fluke, then I did it again, and again.
Roberto Carlos put many legendary skills in just that one goal. A curved ball like corner kick goal, dumped the keeper, outside foot curve, perfect hit on a ball moving away fast and bouncing, a top powerful shot, and still managed to maintain his balance after the shot. This guy was an alien 😅.
+GeoJad it was not an easy save. Usually, when the players kick the ball toward the goal in that angle, the players, including the goalkeepers would think that he is going to cross it in. But, Carlos bent it in Counter Clockwise rotation and shook the net. And you can see the keeper was going out from the goal, to prevent the "cross" to get to the players, which is natural. What I am saying is that the goalkeeper was doing what he had to do. It's just that Roberto was out of this world.
The keeper wasn't incom; he just did what he was trained to do. In football, you have to anticipate when you're defending, otherwise you'll fail. So when a player gets a ball where R.C. got it, keepers are trained to anticipate a cross, not a shot on gaol as it's virtually impossible to score from that sort of angle (well untill R.C. came in). So the keeper moved slightly out to give himself a chance of either catching or punching out an eventual successful cross into the box. Also, it's worth noticing that the ball started to move outwards before reversing course and bending back towards the net. That means when the keeper started his move, the ball was moving away from the goal, which reinforces his belief that it was indeed a cross. It's only halfway there that he realizes he was wrong about the trajectory. By then, it was too late because all of this happened at an incredible speed.
I've seen him score from behind the next (or maybe someone else, Brazilian Ronadlo possibly [look up Jugo Ronaldo or something like that]) .
