    Review: The Osee T5+ is the upgrade version from the popular Osee T5. It still has a low price, but is it worth buying it?

    Great review, what is the advantage of the black and white background when you use the focus assist? No HDMI out is this a big disadvantage?

    • @OttoJulian_
      @OttoJulian_ Рік тому +2

      Thank you !! The BW background helps to make the subject stand out more during the focus assist. Regarding the HDMI output, it’s not an disadvantage unless you need to use it🙂

    4k 30 fps 1000 nits ...this is very nice. I have to turn up my nose at the missing the 'touch' ...all in all, for its price, I'll keep it in mind. Ciao

      Yeah indeed. It takes a bit of time to get used to the joystick as it is multifunctional but the price is attractive enough for a monitor that has 1000 nits

    Hey Otto! Liked and subscribed! So this monitor takes the same batteries as the Sony a6700 correct? And would there be anything else we'd need to purchase for this? cables etc? It would be used with our sony a6700. Thanks Otto, love your great clean informative videos!

      And sorry one more ?, if filming at 4K 60FPS the screen will still monitor/show the picture correct?

    • @OttoJulian_
      @OttoJulian_ 7 днів тому

      Thanks! yeah those batteries will work (NPF), no need to buy anything else although I'd check which hdmi cable you need versus what you get in the box for the T5 (they said they were going to update the cable so better check). I used it in 4K 60fps and the picture does show ok

    Would you keep for yourself OSEE T5+ or Godox GM6S ? They're similar in features but what's your experience?

    • @OttoJulian_
      @OttoJulian_ 9 місяців тому +1

      I'm still using the Godox as my everyday camera monitor and the Osee T5+ has been my backup one, or the main one when I need to use low budget equipment on some locations. My backup one used to be a Freewell but either I sold that already or it's on the "to-sell-shelf"

    Something strange with contrast with you on studio stage footage. Or it's affected by shirt color, or really some low contrast levels on this video on my opinion. Also, your reviews are great.
    Thank you!

      Yes! I just recently found out something that has been affecting the color profile. Been working on that the past days. Thanks for the heads up.

      I’m not very familiar with Lumix cameras. When you press the playback button the monitor stays black? Sony does have a bit of delay, a few seconds, give it some time Otherwise, Try going to the settings of the camera and look for the hdmi output settings.

    Obvious in the video, but not mentioned at all: The text and icons of the menus are useless! Subdued white on a light green pastel make all of those nearly invisible, even in this carefully lit studio footage. Who cares, about 1000 nits if you can't see menus items to select? Also ridiculous is mentioning the 100 gram weight, at which it is also useless. Adding a battery of 500 grams makes it a 600 gram package, balancing on a loose offset bracket. Adding a microphone to the bracket only makes it worse. Disappointing review, Otto.

    • @OttoJulian_
      @OttoJulian_ Рік тому +7

      I'm going to disagree and explain why: There is no green pastel background, it's gray and I'm not sure why the camera captured it in such a way (maybe my fault during the edition), but in plain sunlight it's visible. Sure, that gray background should be darker to make better contrast with the white letters, something that they can fix, BUT, when I increase the brightness to full at 3:01, it's clear that the menus and such are visible.
      My job doing a review implies getting some of the facts. The base weight is important for many reasons. I don't know what kind of old brick you are using to have a 500g one, the one I used to test this is only 200grams. Everyone will want to use a different battery OR no battery at all. I used this on a gimbal with just the cable coming from a power bank, BANG, the weight IS important
      As for your last point, I mentioned that the bracket feels somehow loose (at the top) so that's why I mentioned the use of a screwdriver and I don't like that (a con for me, and BTW, no youtuber mentioned this) but the microphone doesn't even get affected by that because it goes on the side. I
      f you are talking about the cold mount that goes on the cold shoe mount, sorry but on my Sony A7IV it was tight as it can get, spent 2 days walking and running to the subway in NYC without any issues. I would not risk my gear, and if it had been loose I would have said it. I think you have seen other videos and in case you haven't here is a reminder: I don't care about what company the product is coming from, if something is not working, I will test to make sure it's not my mistake, otherwise, if something is wrong with the product I'll just say it out there.
      Bottom line, for anyone reading this, do not expect to have a premium monitor. You are not going to get a $500 monitor for less than 200, but this monitor is fully functional in many ways. Cons have been mentioned in the video, I am not someone trying to be elitist and sure, there are some things that don't bother me that will be a big deal for others, like not having a HDMI out, but everything that I found, good or bad, has been mentioned.

      @@OttoJulian_ Thank you for your detailed response. As for the menu text and graphics, just look at your video. Perhaps viewed in person at a better angle it is not as bad as it looks in the review. Regardless of the actual battery weigh, it is the predominant weight of the monitor assembly in use, as you depicted. Not mentioned was using another piece of hardware and cable is a power bank in a pocket, which goes against your "simple" philosophy. My criticisms are of the design (contrasts in menus) and review judgements. These have nothing to do with the pricing! Thanks for your reviews and I am eagerly awaiting better ones in the future, especially the Osmo Pocket 3 whenever it becomes a reality. 🙂

    • @OttoJulian_
      @OttoJulian_ Рік тому +2

      @@shazam6274 Ah yeah the Pocket 3, I can't wait for it either! Well, there are many things that will look different in real life compared to what you see through a lens, and this is a fact for almost everything, but yeah, I agree, the contrast and color selection for the menus could be better, no doubt, but it did not bother me at all (I felt the viewing angle more of a let down because sometimes I'm not looking straight at the monitor)
      Regarding the powerbank, I did mention it, and at this point in life I know that lots of people have one for their phones, and that's the same powerbank that can be used to power up this monitor, so it's not mandatory but it's a nice option, I mean, I also assume that people will understand that they will have to buy a battery if they don't have one, since nothing is included with the monitor to power it, so yeah, if someone doesn't have a powerbank, a usb-c cable or a battery, the monitor is "no longer" $145.
      Anyway, thanks for replying back, and as I said, I'm also hoping for the DJI Pocket 3 to be a reality soon. I get the feeling that DJI had something cooking but it was overheating like the Action 2 and they had to redesign it. No way they will bring another camera out that overheats too quickly
