@@AMnotQ nah your just jealous
more incredible than all these amazing modded characters is how fluid and precise the inputs are.

Except for hodan… unless you’re playing as him

Peter Griffin versus Homer Simson?
Wow this is a Multiversus killer for sure!
Louis, remember that time I fought Homer Simpson in a fanmade Smash Bros rip off?
A game where Walter White can fight Jerma is truly a testament to our species
NO! I AM THE sus guy
I am very happy to be a part of this amazing game.

Rivals is such a really good game, not only does the base game feel so good to play but the mods really make anything possible.

Rivals Of Aether is genuinely one of the most beautiful things to ever touch gaming. To think that so many talented and even more untalented modders put in the most random, funny, overpowered, cool, and stupidest shit into one game just goes to show how powerful the internet is.
And 90% of the gaming community ignored this game. Cool eh.
personally i prefer the dating sim

Rivals is the best platform fighter in terms of movement options, accessibility, and character choice. You can even make your own pallet swaps for the main cast. Plus the control altering options are PERFECT.

The workshop has some of the best made characters in platform fighters right now. Sucks cause it's dead but fraymakers will have even better custom character tools

Rivals of Aether still remains my favorite Smash clone, and the devs need to hurry the hell up with Steam Deck support already.
why do you need stream deck for rivals?
@@twentykeys Valve's Steam Deck is a portable PC that can play games from your Steam Library.
Rivals works great on the device, but Valve still has the game labeled as "Unsupported" for some reason or another.
They’re probably busy with rivals 2
It already works fine on Deck. It *says* it's unsupported but they might've just tried it on an older verision of Proton because it works perfectly nowadays, even with Workshop.
@@CiromBreeze Yup, pointed that out in a comment above!
I'm just waiting for the devs and Steam to catch up at this point, but I've been playing it great on mine!
1:53 I can't believe they added the psychotic murderer Jerma985 in this game, who's next? Ted Bundy?! To think they actually put his meatgrinder incident in this game as a move... It's insane. Don't they know Jerma actually ate all the passengers on a plane once and then something
Funny thing is, there's multiple Jermas. The one shown isn't even the newest one.
He ate all the passengers and then threw up all over passport control, yeah.
@@Aperson-62 i think the cartoony one with elbow drop is best
They also turn the El Paso shooter (yes, the guy that killed 22 people in a Walmart in 2019) into a player character ffs. Don't believe me? Search for "Sam Hyde" on the character list.
Smashlikes may rise and fall, but Aether will remain eternal, as long as there are those willing to mod for it
I am so proud that the most played spot is the one where Terry Hintz is on the screen.
This game really makes you FEEL your 6-8 weeks of broken bone recovery.
Just want to put this out here, if you like platform fighting games at all and this game seems even somewhat interesting, buy it. Not only is the workshop support shown here some of the very best on steam, but the base game is also fantastic and is absolutely worth the price if you like the genre. I highly recommend it 👍👍👍
I was initially just wondering who the f made this game, it's insane that the workshop community for this game puts out high enough quality content to make me think someone actually just made this game.
@@hrodvithit the workshop scene is literally insanely good. apart from the characters shown here, there are enough balanced characters that there's a very small comp scene for workshop, and the list of legal characters is usually pretty huge. there are a ton of ocs as well, and they're usually even more well done than the copyrighted characters

It's really great that they put the actual sprites from Gameboy games into this. I remember that Shadow and that Sully.

Honestly I still find it cool that a game like this can do that. Where you get to play characters from different series in this game.😺

Rivals of Ather definitely is the best smash clone out rn . The people who made this def cared about the project and knew what made melee and smash bro's itself tick . It had what was missing from multiverSUS a soul AND ALSO TIGHT CONTROLS
Rivals of Aether has shit AI and the multiplayer is full of extreme sweatlords.
There is no way to play the game casually. You must already be very good at the game in order to enjoy the game, this late into its life. Which is the exact reason it doesn't have a very large playerbase, even though mechanically it is the best Smash clone.
The Rivals of Aether experience is beating the shit-easy campaign, and then losing matches online indefinitely, and I mean *indefinitely* . You will never feel like you have a chance to move or get out of stunlock, when every player is better than you because they've been an RoA addict for years now.
Today, the only way a person who isn't already extremely good at RoA can enjoy RoA is if they have a group of friends who are all willing to buy and play the game with them.

Anyone interested in this should be on the lookout for Fraymakers releasing in the next couple months. Also just found out about Indie Rumble and Smack Studio. All are platform fighters built around custom content, but Fraymakers specifically is looking pretty nice
It's pretty crazy that with Smash Bros being "over", all these large companies and small indie studios immediately dived into the genre.
They smartly realized that there would be a "power vacuum" that can yield a goldmine.
