XP DEUS Software v4.0 Beta - "Negative DISC" Explained - My New SETTING!

- I will show you in this video the new XP Deus software v4.0 (beta 18). You will see the "negative" DISC in action with a few problematic objects. I will also adapt my old setup to the v4.0 FW and test it in the woods (a video will follow soon).
I'm not showing every new feature of this software, because (to be honest) all I'm interested in was the 2.5 reactivity and the new DISC. I don't look at VDI numbers or graphics in the field.
P.S. I'm not a tester. I just found this software a few days ago and got curious. I thought that it was released, because "everyone" was showing it together with new coils/pinpointers.

Just wanted to let you know I like your program. I set it up on my Deus with 4.0 beta ,then I tweaked the reactivity to 1 . I can hit a US quarter at 12 inches in my test garden. I am looking forward to using it in the field.

I agree about the speaker screen at start up..
I only use hot (3.2) I'm so used to it I can't get on with anything else although I adjust reactivity and kHz to suit the ground/iron.
I'm having trouble seeing an advantage to this negative disc thing.
2.5 reactivity and the x/y screen are what I'm personally most looking forward to in V4 which seems to have been released yesterday.. also the pinpointer and phone app but they're delayed, (as per with xp)

Thanks for the video. I have also been testing and playing with V4 for a few weeks and I'm not sure yet how the negative discrimination has helped. Your tests are very good. I think I'm right in saying that your test shows that negative discrimination will allow the Deus to see some small iron targets that were rejected previously at 0 discrimination? Do you see this as a benefit to you while hunting with negative discrimination? Thanks Kev
Hello, exactly, the Deus was "blind" to certain (iron) targets. It could see the objects, but it filtered some of them out and replaced the signals with silence. When I placed the coil over a bigger iron target, I could hear the break with my "noisy" (negative G.B.) setting, but the smaller signals disappeared.
It was a clear disadvantage in my opinion. I always try to get as much audio information from the ground as possible.
Small iron targets can be valuable info. You can slow down and take a closer look at the spot. But if the machine is silent, you just keep walking. It can also be very helpful, if you try to follow the (iron) lead (when you miss one clue, you could easily walk in the "wrong" direction).
In this video ( ua-cam.com/video/hArbO4LJT4I/v-deo.html ) I found a tiny Roman coin and focused on this small spot. Because it was relatively clean, I tried to remove some of the iron objects near by (in hope that a nail is masking another coin). Unfortunately the DISC "0" setting was't able to show every piece of iron. I was forced to use Full-Tones, because the "0 filter feature" is not present there (this is how I found this (probably) Roman nail). With the new negative DISC option the Deus should see every piece of iron.
The new v4.0 software seems to have better soil penetration. I don't know if this is related to the absence of the "0" disc, or if XP achieved it somehow over the G.B. Maybe it's a combination...

Can you please do another setting video on your HF coil? I managed to get one today and it seems to be acting quite differently than the regular coil in my programs.
Just learning the Deus. Interesting how the items are seen. I agree about the "Speaker" screen. Annoyed me straight off. Set a default and lets go swinging.

Danke für Deine Bestätigung. Wollte für den "Praxistest" zu einer bestimmten Stelle fahren (ein verlassener Weinberg). Leider hat mir ein Busfahrer mit einer Verspätung, einen Strich durch die Rechnung gemacht (hätte später den Zug nicht mehr gekriegt). Um wirklich etwas aussagekräftig testen zu können, müsste ich 2 identische Detektoren mit beiden Softwareversionen mitnehmen, was ich leider nicht bieten kann. Ich hoffe dennoch, dass man die ein oder andere Info aus dem (über)langen Video rausholen kann (werde versuchen es noch heute freizuschalten).

Hallo noch einmal. Hatte die Möglichkeit heute das Program zu testen auf einem Spielplatz mit Liegewiese. Leider habe ich zu 100% nur kornkorken und abziehlaschen uns Folie zu tage gefördert. Hat jemand einen Tipp?

Waiting for v4 is taking forever think deus were a bit upset over the facebook leak of the v4 beta download , hope end of march is d day for release as not heard any bad reviews about v4 :)
I thought the v4 came already out. I tried the update and nothing, still v3.2... Two days later I accidentally came across the beta link and could not resist.
I wonder where the elliptical coil is? There are some videos with the white 9" coil, but where is the other one... Hmm...
Cool settings , but when I try put disk -5.4 and then I set up the tones and the first tone THRESH. 1T/2T - 0 , the Deus changes the disk to 0 . So how do I go around it ?
i have the same problem, as the Disk and Thresh 1T/2T is one same thing (after change disk to -5,4 and Thresh 1T/2T to 0, after all my Disk is 0... and i dont know how to fix ir

I'm thinking of purchasing a Deus.. all the settings... how do you learn all this. Looks quite complicated. To me looks like more headache then $1250 could buy. Then too, the firmware keeps changing. All this is what is holding me back from Deus.
I like the light weight wireless. But in most of the videos I've watched.. it doesn't seem to do any better at ID then other machines of this $. Seems too... when the Deus is custom set to hunt.. there is always the background chatter, what's up with that. Does it have to have that chatter going on to reach decent depth? Good Video.. but to me it was more like Chinese Checkers, I'm sure Deus owners understood it.
Were you able to select a language for the download? I currently have 3.2 in German and would love to switch to english.

Vielen Dank für das Kompliment. Ich hoffe, dass es dem ein oder anderen Deus-Besitzer hilft und auch zeigt, dass man einem Detektor nicht in allen Situationen blind vertrauen soll, nur weil Marke X oder Y draufsteht. Beste Grüße.

Yesterday tried exactly the same setting like those. Hmm, it's very hard to work with gb lower than 75, my soil condition is badly than your dude.
Another thing about disc, sometimes good signal is switched to iron signal, and iron to good. Very confused, this is tested in real searching condition, Roman middle mineralised soil, not on a test bench.

Thanks for the feedback. I haven't noticed any changes of the signal from iron to non iron and vice versa with negative G.B. and I'm hunting with this setting (with v3.2) for a few years in all kinds of terrain. I had one strange moment with the v4.0, but other than that no other problems during the following hunts.

edit: to your last comment, totaly agree. I bought an Deus to my Dad who is not so young anymore, wearing glasses. Somethimes i can see that this first "anti-welcome" screen is bullet proof :D eventhough, it is kinda automatic. It should be "removed" or just embeded to the regular setting of the machine menu.

I'm curious. Why did you set the Ground balance so low?
Because of this trick I don't have to worry about any readjustments (example is shown in this video: ua-cam.com/video/5BmQ8J-lkRo/v-deo.html). Why not set it to the max then... I had another 9" coil that could not even get below "-2" of the measured G.B. value. It started falsing heavily at mineralized spots. As a result, I couldn't get the maximum depth out of it (I had to readjust it). Now when the ground is mineralized, I can instantly hear it without the falsing (I will show an example in one of the next videos). When it's quiet I know that it's running at its maximum. Is it the best approach? I don't know, it's working for me - I'm much more satisfied with the Deus now, than I was before.

Okay, the speaker yes or no question might be irritating, but... turn on and go? The power of the Deus is that you must choose the settings for each hunt, each time. Hunt type changes (bush, grass field recreational), ground conditions change (moist or dry etc), so most of the time you are pushing a lot of buttons before you start annyway.
