  • Comparison of the $260+ Feedback Sports Pro Elite to an inexpensive $99 knockoff on Amazon.

    Apologies for the sound quality and length. I shot this on my phone rigged to a tripod and got some feedback when moving the tripod. Too lazy to edit out the feedback as well as some of my rambling.

    Awesome review. Thank you. Limited time deal for the Unisky stand for 63.99 right now on amazon. What a steal. Mine should be coming in somewhat this week.

    for less than the 269 you could get a park tool stand

    Bit of fettling req'd on a a lotta stuff these days.
    No biggie.
    De grease, scuff up mating surfaces with coarse sand paper.
    Probably good to go.
    The knock off Feedback stands have fine plastic serrated teeth against rotation.

    thank you for this review! how would you compared the two in regards to stowage? i imagine they’re about the same size and weight when folded down.

    I like the Feedback Sports Pro Elite & I think it is better for me than the Park Tool PCS 10.2 (even though I really ;like that stand too), so, in order to keep the stand, I would would deal with the issues you mentioned as follows:
    1) I would dismantle the main clamp and degrease it so there is more friction. I would also rough the surface up a bit so there is more friction - problem solved
    2) I would make sure the pole clamps are fully adjusted and tight before use, so they clamp the pole tightly & not allow it to turn or drop - problem solved (It's not supposed to turn with the bike on)
    3) I would not use it for a heavy ebike. I would use it for a light hardtail
    Under those circumstances, I think it would be very suitable for me.

      Its an issue with the back clamp, it simply isn't up to the task. Other reviewers have encountered the same problem. I agree should be fine with a lighter bike. But Feedback Sports rates their stand for up to 85 pounds and it simply can't hold the bike level.

  • @tadge74

    Yeah i have a feedback one and it wont hold an ebike straight as it just rotates. As you say, the friction clamp os not good enough. It needs teeth in the rotating secrion so it can lock at any angle

    ... any additional comments re the Unisky now that you've lived with it for 8 months? Still a keeper?

    Those poor stands!!! That bike's a BEAST! When I work on mine I put the motor up on an egg crate. Works well enough to change a flat tire, but not very safe.

    Thanks for the review, just the info I needed for an affordable stand to work on my ebikes, Mahalo nui loa from Kauai, Hawaii!!

    Couldn't take the poor camera work and camera noise any more so didn't finish the video. Besides that, I just got the Feedback Pro Elite and mounted and worked on my Rad City ebike, which with extra gear on the bike weighs 80lbs or more. The things you had cons about didn't exist in my case. I could rotate my bike laterally while on the Feedback and also tilt it while clamped to the bike. The only difference I could see you having is that I can mount to the horizontal(ish) cross bar and not have to deal with the seat post, plus I have a suspension seatpost and can't grab my bike in that spot. I don't think calling it a "horrible mechanism" is factual and as with lots of gear, it's user error or user preference, nothing more. The Feedback is rock solid and every other stand I've seen, short of the Park 10.2 seems to be made of inferior materials.

      Good to hear it worked for you. Yeah I probably could have edited the video back quite a bit.

    How it’s the stand holding? Did it break yet?

    • @lakebagger
      @lakebagger  3 роки тому

      The stand is performing as expected for the price. However I ended up stripping the clamp screw due to my ill advised clamping method. Basically you should not try to tighten the clamp after you have clamped it. This will strip the threads. Unisky sent me a replacement screw so I must give them kudos for customer service.

    @7:52 into the video I'd like to know where you got the saddle bag/book bag carrier that fits over the back tire?

    • @lakebagger
      @lakebagger  3 роки тому

      Not sure which one your referring to but I use Ortlieb Velo-Shopper QL 2.1 Bike Panniers (was on clearance at sierra for $80) and love them.

    • @MrSamBowers
      @MrSamBowers 3 роки тому

      @@lakebagger I'm asking about the black metal saddle bag carrier that on your back tire. I'm not asking about your saddle bags. I want the brand name of the carrier. It looks like you have a red reflector attached to it.

    • @lakebagger
      @lakebagger  3 роки тому

      Oh, that would be the Banjo Brothers Market Pannier. I don't recommend it as it kept falling off. The ortlieb has a much better attachment system and stays on. It's about the same size and actually looks better on the bike in my opinion.

    It's not a knock off stand it's Unisky, beside they have different clamp. Your use of knock sounds a bit naive

    • @lakebagger
      @lakebagger  2 роки тому

      If you look at Amazon pretty much every stand in the price range has the same clamp including the bike hand stands. It is not unique to Unisky. If there is a weak point with these stands relative to park tools or feedback sports it is this generic clamp. Call it whatever you want, knockoff stand, or something else. I referred to it as a knockoff stand because it's quite obviously intended to look like the feedback sports stands with the red paint scheme and three legs.

    Did you have to order that bike from China when you purchased it?

  • @Sam_Saunders
    @Sam_Saunders 4 роки тому +3

    Interesting comparison. I would say that you are probably pushing the Feedback Sports stand to the limit with the weight of that ebike. They should probably reclassify how much weight it can take, and dissapointing the cheaper stand takes it no problem given the price difference! I wonder if the design of your ebike, with all that weight in the down tube, is the reason the stand is struggling?

    • @lakebagger
      @lakebagger  4 роки тому +2

      I think it's just a bad design. I've seen another video review that demonstrates how poor the back clamp is on the Feedback Sports stands. See here: ua-cam.com/video/wu69k0qjbyo/v-deo.html (fast forward to just before the 13 minute mark)

    • @Sam_Saunders
      @Sam_Saunders 4 роки тому +1

      @@lakebagger maybe. But again, that video is testing with a heavy ebike with a lot of weight on the down tube again. These stands were designed before ebikes became popular. They definetly need to change the limit of the stand.

    I just seen this and as always ,very informative, well done. The $99 stand works better with the 73 pound bike than the $269 stand does with the same bike. point being any bike of lesser weight would never have any kind of need for $269 stand. That is my opinion in regards to the video. but of course some people might want that $ 269 stand For reasons that I would not understand.
    Once again great job you saved me a lot of legwork
