I work at a Buick/GMC and our oil changes are normally .5-1.0. We also don’t install after market parts in customer vehicles either, that’s cool that bmw does that.

they aren't just paying for your time for the diag but your expertise that you paid to be trained on. Rich people would never give or do anything for free. keep that in mind. :)
The original wiper frames on my 4Runner are 15 years old but I've changed the inserts three times. I tried parts store wipers for a short time but they fell apart within a year. Nothing like O.E.
It takes about 8 minutes to search up the car,look for the car, get the car in the bay, bend down and put the arms under the car,and then raise the car. So, really, you have to do an oil change in less than 10 minutes
my BMW recently had the brake recall service performed.(the IBS, 02/2024 recall) Not really sure what BMW USA paid the dealer to do the brake recall, but they kept the car for 3 days and gave me a BMW loaner.(which presumably was billed to BMW as well?) The service advisor said the repair actually took only about 3 to 4 hours, plus a 10-minute test drive. :)

@@elora2525 I decided to look at my dashcam footage to see what they were doing. however, it did show two BMW techs working under the hood and maybe under the car for a total of 3 hours and 17 minutes.

Hey Bowie. Awesome videos and I love the detail narratives. Please keep up the videos! I am learning a lot as a Mini owner. I have a quick question hoping you can give some insights.
I have a 2017 Mini Countryman S with an on-and-off vibration/shake during idle. It is a very minor vibration that can be felt on my seat when I depress the brake fully and enter, I think, gas efficiency mode. The idle drops really low but I do not have the on/off feature activated. I changed my spark plugs (tried both NGK 0.03" and Champion 0.032" gap), replaced Dinan ignition coil, cleaned MAF sensor, air filter, and fuel breather valve, but did not seem to help. There are no fault codes except a misfire code that happened a year ago but never came back resetting.
Any idea?

Why do you end up working on other European cars like Audi’s and Porsche’s at your BMW/Mini dealership? Is it because there aren’t dealerships for them to go to where you live?
Great question!! Most of the Audi/Porsche’s that you see are used cars. Cars that were traded in, go through inspection and then go back on the lot to be sold. I get most if aud/porsche bc i have past experience with them

.3 for an oil change? After the service writer handed me the ticket, I'd do an about face and the service writer would be hearing the same sound that this video ended with. I would then proceed to the parking lot to retrieve my pickup and bring that in the bay so I could load my tool box.

I love that BMW does wiper inserts! I know Lexus does them, and some honda dealers. I know a bunch of brands (FCA, GM, Toyota, etc) do it and I wish the dealers actually did it... It'd save the customer so much money.
porsche got good labor times just saying... the price is your soul when working on mid engine/rear engine only SOMETIMEs tho. 2hr oil change
I recommend not giving away your time at work. Do you think the customer goes to work for free? It takes education, time, and skill to quickly diagnose "simple" Issues. They are paying for that and the hours reading SIB's.

I’m surprised the dealer let you put in an aftermarket accessory. I know most dealers won’t do it for fear of an issue and having to void the warranty.

Good job, but I gotta say you may want to change to a new pair of gloves when installing blades. oil/grease can't be good for wiper blades. Other than that you got some skills. Good job kiddo

Oil change in most shops is hourly pay not flag. A and B techs get flat rate they don’t touch oil changes
Do those plastic pillar covers ever break when you try to pull them off? Plastic parts seem so flimsy. I tried pulling a rear door card off to put a new speaker in and I was absolutely sure something was going to break so I stopped and got the shop to do it!
I have 2 BMWs, and I do all my own work, I mean full tear up stuff. I would recommend learning full diagnostic skills, understanding of the combustion engine and getting into EV.

Brake fluid is recommended every two years. It pulls in moisture a corroded the entire braking system.
