Cool video! I did that interior design in the late 90s at Galoob. It was actually an all-nighter built out in foamcore and styrene, then took a red-eye out to engineers in Philly to fast track it to manufacturing.

That is really awesome! This is a cool design in its own right, but especially cool hearing that it was done in such a short amount of time. I've always been a big fan of this set. I've been on the lookout for an original Super Truck City as well, but they are so hard to come across these days. Thanks for sharing!

I have no credit for the original Super Truck City and I'm actually not sure which of my colleagues designed it, but we literally deconstructed one to make the Jeff Gordon rig. There's a great book out by Tim Smith called Micro But Many, and many of us got to know Tim and he tells a bit of the design team's story and shows his amazing collection. Fun stuff, and still one of the most fun jobs I've had.

Yes! This was a redesign of Super Truck City. An existing Super truck was gutted for the Speedway model.

I was lucky enough almost a year ago finding one of these NIB on eBay…so glad to have it in my micro machines collection along with the micro muncher I found as well….so many cool things with the micro machine line, I think I always liked it better than collecting hot wheels👍🏻👍🏻 thanks for your contribution to a great toy line👍🏻
