I'm not stressed out about the Luke Fickell press conference, however he has to be absolutely clueless if he's not expecting follow up questions regarding the Longo firing.
Who cares he just had to fire a friend. Just reporter's trying to make more problems out of, really, that is their I'm tired of reporter's trying to get their answer the way they want it answered I'm tired of reporter's trying to do this!!!!
exactly - UA-cam "Chip Kelly Interview" earlier this month - said precisely that. And he said "ask your QB what he is most Comfortable With." Might learn something
Maybe the badgers aren’t meant to have a gunslinger qb. I have a warm feeling thinking about going back to big, lengthy lineman and a rumbling rb paired with a stout defense. Looking ahead I hope tressel can keep the kids coming in the next class, if he can beware big10
Love the show as always, but feels like a bit of gaslighting from Ryan here on the QB situation. Earlier this week he was saying he wants to see Mabry and today he's saying it was never a possibility. Just asking for some acknowledgement of the change.
100%, Ryan overhyped the Receiver Room this entire year - that's on him. That room has let the Badgers down. It has negatively impacted Braedyn Locke as well as Tawee Walker. I wish them all the best this weekend
They’ve been antagonistic towards him since he arrived. He’s not a “Wisconsin guy.“ Oates and JP particularly have a hard on to see this blow up. I for one am glad he bit back. I’m tired of everyone thinking they need to know everything. Seems to me the “insiders” are upset that their access has been cut off since Fick arrived.
I don't have a conspiracy theory or place any value on presers, simply coaches or players musings. My deal is Fick's pd 7 mill/yr so like the guys who make 50k or not, answer the questions.
So if Locke would happen to get injured against Nebraska or Minnesota would Mabrey refuse to go in the game because he doesn't want to burn his redshirt?
I hope so. There is no reason for Mettauer to appear this season. It's best for him and the Badgers to maintain as much eligibility as possible. It's a lost season. Honestly, Milos Spasojevic should redshirt as well. Cole LaCrue should be the Badgers' starting quarterback for the final two games and potentially the bowl game, with Braedyn Locke as the backup.
Ryan, you're spot on. I think he didn't want to say who was going to be responsible because the Wisconsin fan base just wants someone's head on a stick if things don't go really well.
You are the head coach, you just fired your OC during the season, you have to expect questions. He definitely could have handled the questions better, politely answer a couple and then nicely say that is all I have to say on the matter, understand the curiosity, but I will not take any more questions on that. He did not handle it well. The entire conference was poorly handled. Do I care much? No! But it was not handled well.
My thing about Luke Fickell is that I’ve noticed a pattern of him cutting people off at press conferences for a long time now. Paul Chryst seemed like he was asleep at times at press conferences but Luke gives off arrogant condescending vibes big-time. I don’t necessarily think it affects the program in a big way I just don’t really care for his character.
? Don’t think that’s fair. Character is about honesty, integrity, work ethic, family, achievement, etc. Not how good of a public speaker or if the best doing press conferences. Arrogant? No, but the guy is accomplished in the athletic realm. A winner as an athlete, as a coach, from a blue blood football program. It would be unusual if he wasn’t a confident person.
@ Cutting people off in every press conference and getting defensive about simple questions as if their attacks shows questionable character. Its fine you don’t agree but he boarders on those lines of what I said , I can only imagine what he’s like behind closed doors .
Re the press conference it wasn’t just the stress of a game against #1 that they easily could have won. And having to fire Longo, recall he also had to fire DelRio who unbelievably forgot about Uber or Lyft and drove drunk into someone’s yard. Tough week for Fickell.
I wonder if Oregon loss, fired Longo, Jack DelRio crash, and first real challenge by the media. Salty? I'm surprised he doesn't have high blood pressure!
Good for you Ryan .. the media always think they have to know all the dirty details. I like the fact Fickell didn’t cave to the media. He doesn’t owe the media or fans anything. He’s getting paid to coach this team.
Tim, who's paying him the largest portion of salary to coach the team? He doesn't "owe" us anything but to due his job 2 best of ability & pressers r a part of it. Not new or rocket science. Self awareness & humility in adversity & leadership come to mind. Always, On Wisconsin
Anyone listen to Smith saying 10 million for Mich new QB !! Coaching football very stressful with NIL, transfers, coaches moving, pressure to win, injured qb's, etc ! Fans should stay fans not amateur coaches ! ON W !
I feel like these coaches have to "bite their tongue" on a weekly basis. And frankly some of the questions are embarrassingly clunky and just not super professional sounding. There was one question couple weeks back about how they should deal with Hallman not getting balls thrown his way, as if that were a problem. Not naming names but these type of questions are not uncommon.
The coaching staff appears to be in a state of chaos and the coach is dismissive of questions during the presser that happened right after the firing? wow. I didn't get the "we got this" vibe. Curtis is spot on about Fickell's presser.
Totally disagree! That was a terrible look for the program, let alone for Fickell. Like it or not, perception and media relations are critical parts of a HC's job. The days of HC's being clever X's & O's gurus and nothing more are long gone. His boss has been equally bad at this and, I think, the problem here lies with poor advice. When the donations start tanking and ticket sales take a nosedive (as if they haven't already), they will make changes there or they will be gone! Perception is sometimes a cruel fact of life. Both men were hired to manage the transition to a more professional college football environment while elevating the results. So far? Fail.
It’s more of a pattern of him being prickly and resistant to criticism. He snaps on the media all the time. Sometimes he will have a smart ass answer which can work when you’re winning games but when people have legitimate questions it makes him look like a buffoon.
Hi Luke. Who’s calling plays.
Nate Letton.
Thanks Luke.
He did the entire thing to himself. This isn’t difficult.
I'm not stressed out about the Luke Fickell press conference, however he has to be absolutely clueless if he's not expecting follow up questions regarding the Longo firing.
a head coach "clueless"? that's not a Thing

They’ve all become opinion columns. The lack of actual “reporting“ seems to be thrown by the wayside.
100% - Today's reporters have little sense when it comes to asking the questions at the appropriate times - its a disease in the media
I felt that was Longo’s weakness. No imagination. He could not design a game plane specific to each opponent
exactly - UA-cam "Chip Kelly Interview" earlier this month - said precisely that. And he said "ask your QB what he is most Comfortable With." Might learn something
Carter Smith in a Brennan Marion offense 🔥🔥

^This is spot on. They're upset that Fickell is less cozy with the media than Chryst was.
@ agreed. they were/are staunch defenders of Chryst. Always had the “scoop” and never pushed him on ANYTHING.
Yup…. There ticked Mac fired their buddy and taking it out on Fickell.
@@timothypalm4403 seriously. Each post is not even veiled swipes anymore. They just are outwardly cheering to see this fail.

It wouldn’t burn his redshirt. You can 4 games before that happens

LaCrue left. It's a good question who the backup QB is
Negativity brings negative results !! Let's be positive dealing with young men

Badger fans are doing a Cheap Impersonation of Ohio State Buckeye fans.
Anyone know T.E.A.M. means TOGETHER EACH ACCOMPLISHES MORE !!! Great motto !
Cut the guy a break, I love the media evaluating the media. Can 't imagine how gutted he was at that loss, as well as the players.
I'm stressed! Continuing to start Locke, OC by committee, no transparency, etc.
29:00 absolutely right about Nebraska not being a team that would score 42 on you. They scored 44 😂

Probably should be concerned. Maybe Fickel cant handle pressure very well. Presser was a complete disaster.
Temple and Heilprin are constantly braying about Fickell. I agree, it’s a nothing burger

Fickell made the press conference the big story by his attitude
Fickell
Here's a shock, guys who have been wrong about Fickell's ability to be successful at UW don't mind his rudeness.
good show. good guest. I have faith in fickell. he wasn't handed a full cupboard. everyone needs to be patient. it will pay.

Welcome Buccaneer Badger fans! Just a bunch of scallywags' navigating the rough seas that are Wisconsin sports. Lead by our Captain Ryan Harings.
Fickell revealed that behind the T.E.A.M. vest is a defeated thin-skinned man. It may explain why his teams lack toughness when faced with adversity.
Curtis is a good guest!
