Hey Mark! So cool that you stopped by to say hello in the comments!!! Been loving your USA videos! Will you be stopping by Seattle again? Are you in the US indefinitely or are you planning on going back to Thailand soon?
YESSSSS I was one of those who requested for this recipe haha. I actually had no idea this dish went viral. I just knew I had to try it when I saw it. Thank you!
Just had some on the streets of Thailand. One of my favorite dishes now. But the secret ingredient is the culantro, which I dont think is easy to find outside of Asia. And since this recipe used cilantro instead of culantro, i can’t imagine it tastes nearly as good.
HUGE congratulations on the NPR article!! 👏🏽🎊🍾 I’m glad I found your channel after my study abroad trip to Thailand as I wanted to keep learning about Thai cuisine and culture. Keep up the great work!! ❤️
I was thrilled years ago to watch your collab with Mark in Thailand, so I was super thrilled to find this video. I often watch Mark's videos in Thailand and wonder if I will ever try those dishes. Thank you for making this dish so accessible. I would love to see more of this type of video teaching us how to make uniquely Thai dishes that are not available in North America. Btw I often make Korean pork bone soup and was thrilled to find another Asian cuisine recipe using them. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
My wife just made Tom Saeb Leng, so delicious with steamed rice. When it's my turn to cook Thai food I follow Palin's recipe's and they come out perfect. Plus her vids are fun to watch, that onion/garlic drop @ 02:05 was cute.
👍👍👍I did this dish a few years ago at one of the cook outs with friends. Man it wet fast, and then I got yelled at for not making more. What an easy meal to have with family and friends. Finger food. Thank you;
I'm African-American, so I grew up eating neck bones from cows, turkeys, and pigs! Luckily, in Chicago, these are easy to find at regular grocery stores. Thanks for sharing this awesome recipe. Very excited to try them in a new way!
Your cooking techniques and personalities are absolutely amazing, you’ve prepared yet another delicious and outstanding cuisine. Keep up the amazing work and stay safe with god’s blessings 🙏🇬🇾
I’ve been to Bangkok ten times but have never eaten this. A bit intimidated by the chillies, even though I can handle spice quite well but Thai people’s concept of spiciness is on a other level.
So I googled : ''Mark Wiens and Thai Street food" while sipping on my new canned tom ka gai soup and ended up here. Liked the broth recipe and looking forward to more Thai recipes. Subscribed without hesitation!
Oh my! This is my favorite soup! It is insane to have such spicy soup in the steaming hot weather as in Thailand but it’s just satisfying to do so. Enjoy the delicious broth and wipe the sweat at the same time. Thank you so much for the recipe
When i was in Thailand a few years ago (before all this covid mess) I had to track down this dish and try it. It was very spicy but so delicious. Recommended to try if you can tolerate some heat.
This dish is very much like the Filipino soup dish called “Sinigang na Baboy” (pork sinigang dish).. made with similar neck bones boiled fork tender in a spicy sour broth.. the sour tastes usually comes from tamarind and/or lime or lemon… also has onions, garlic.. but includes some tomato (provides some sweetness), and other vegetables like mustard greens and bokchoy and taro or sometimes white radish. Served with rice..and like the Thai dish version.. great comfort food.! Cheers!
Great dish reminds me of a dish from the islands of Hawaii. My mom made a lot of dishes with vegetables and soup style. Anyways stay safe out there and have a blessed day and Merry Christmas to you and your family. Aloha from Kansas
In Thai restaurant, they use only green spur chili because it's quite mild not too spicy. the character of this dish is smell of green spur chili that why they use green chili a lot. sometime they add red chili for more spicy. when you see this disk at first time with a ton of green chili, you must imagine tis flavor too spicy like me, but it not too spicy like you thought (but still spicy)
Merry Christmas Pailin to you and your family and Happy Holidays. Thanks to Mark as well hope his family is enjoying the Holidays. This Puerto Rican New York raised Presently in The Great Northwest loves Asian cuisine and the beautiful warm people. ty ty Gracias Grazie Merci Obrigada Danke schön 謝謝 ขอบคุณ
Oh that’s one of the best Thai spicy soups 😍 Drooling watching. Makes me miss Thai street food hopping. Btw. Merry Christmas to you and your family ka 🎄💕
Oh my, I can't wait to do this! While it may take long to tenderize, the ease with which to make it all come together is well worth the wait. I'm sure the meat is, by itself, already flavorful, but with that smokin' salty sweetish dressing poured on it, or in which to dip it, the flavor must be something to die for.
If you don't like garlic. Just don't put it in. Actually, what important is fish sauce, lots of Thai bird eye chillis(greens have more fragrant) lime juice and sugar(to mellow thing out).
Merry Christmas, Pailin et al. . Steven Spielberg's flyover mountain of the mothership from "Encounter of the Third Kind" (also Mark's Recipe) sends his regards (LOL).
On my last trip back to Thailand, this dish seemed to be offered everywhere, especially at noodle stalls where they would have the broth and the pork bones already simmering away anyway. Then it's just a matter of 'saeb-bing' it up -- voila, no waste (except for the bones of course :D)
Have tried this dish at the place mark had it and it's all looks and no food bang. The creator is a genius tho. Use left over food and make it look like something Fred Flintstone would order and voila you have novelty...
Hi Juldit and Adam here! She just got that one recently but I don't remember where from. If you to ask her that one directly (as she doesn't see the comments on here once the post is more than a week old as per her note above), you can check out all the options to get hold of her at hot-thai-kitchen.com/contact . Cheers!
This looks delicious, I can't wait to make this😍 There's also a really tasty Korean soup made with pork spine/neck bones called gamja tang. I highly recommend it.
Inspirational recipe to share. The dish looks so appetizing and super tasty to eat. Delicious menu for lunch or dinner. Thank you for sharing this yummy recipe, Pailin. Have a great week ahead and be in health....
Hi Mee! Adam here - and I believe she got these locally (Vancouver) so can't help you there sorry, but if you want to ask her that one directly you can check out all the options to get hold of her at hot-thai-kitchen.com/contact . Cheers!
เล้งแซ่บ leng zapp came from teochew chinese and thai languages. เอียเล้ง ia leng is teochew language means pork spine. แซ่บ zapp is thai north-eastern language means delicious.
I'm wondering if I can make this with pig trotters. I often make braised pig feet because they're cheap and full of collagen. The texture will be very different, much thicker from the skin and joints, but I think it'll be delicious
The meat attached to bone IS the best meat. Why do I feel like pork neck NEEDS to be in green curry? I need to make that AND this. Thanks again for posting!
I like this recipe 😊 actually for somebody who is not really that inclined to eating too much meat this one is good I like the flavors you put in it. Remind me of a twist on North Carolina barbecue Asian style. Lol wild animal so cute 😻
Thank you Pailin, your recipe looks fantastic. Merry Christmas!

Hi Pailin, greetings from Singapore. You're my favourite Thai cook! 🇹🇭🇸🇬👍
I love this cooking video idea! I follow both Mark Weins and would love to see more of these viral-foodie channel featured dishes.
Oh my! This is my favorite soup! It is insane to have such spicy soup in the steaming hot weather as in Thailand but it’s just satisfying to do so. Enjoy the delicious broth and wipe the sweat at the same time. Thank you so much for the recipe
This dish is perfect for dinner while it snows.

hahaahha when she goes for the broth and that feeling hits. I felt that in my soul
Yo Mark! Wow I so can make this Pailin! Merry Christmas guys!!!

I tried it at the Train Station market in BKK after seeing the video! It was really good. Too bad the market is closed now.
Yes it is too bad, though now you can make it at home!

After seating the video, I decided to try out . I used the big red chillie as the bird-eye chillie is too spicy for my family. Tasted delicious!

Just use a instant pot or pressure pot. Totally worth money and it usually on sale.
Selamat datang di masakan Aljazair yang lezat
You can throw steel spoons in the pot to tenderize the meat quicker.
Your presentation is so effective that I was almost tempted to try... Merry Christmas
Selamat datang di masakan Aljazair yang lezat
Thank you, Pai. Looks incredible.
Love how you describe everything in details, pork Christmas tree lol…that is an awesome dish 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

Simple dish that reminds me of moms home cooking.
Saving this to make when my mom visits, lol.

OMG Ive been waiting..
Hey Pailin try roasting the peppers and garlic first before adding it into the broth. I promise you won’t regret it
Lol when you tasted the broth n the music went….!
I'd been doing this for years as an alternative to Jok for the weekend breakfast. I didn't even know there was a name for the dish.
