I freaking love the PSII Nike Smoke. It's my go to rocket, especially if I'm having a bad launch day. When I'm getting rockets stuck in trees or whatever, I put a composite in my Nike Smoke and have a great launch.
I've flown my Estes Majestic which is even smaller and lighter on a H195NT and a H115DM. Built completely from Bob Smith 5 minute epoxy. I also added rail buttons. This should in theory handle a H195NT my L1 rocket a PML Phobos was built completely with CA glue and flew fine on range of H motors.
I've got one of those to unbox, too! Yeah, I've flown some CA-only Aerotech rockets on Hs over the years, my dad did his L1 with an Aerotech Strong Arm on a Kosdon H155 way back in the day. I think it'll be just fine, but there's only one way to find out!
Yeah I considered doing my L1 that way with my Majestic xD at least I did until I had a very old E23 fail to light the delay grain and turn it into a lawn dart. That rocket hit 2000ft on a F50 though so on a H it would really climb
I love that you kept the elastic. Something about upgrading everything all the time everywhere is just burning my toast in this world. Dude, you don’t need a winch bumper, a roof rack, traction boards, a farm jack, empty rotopacks, and four tool boxes to go to the mall. Because now you need new suspension to handle all that weight. And your high performance cardboard rocket is perfect enough with elastic. Go head, fly it until it burns through. I’ll wait! 😂🤣😂
I finished my old Cosmodrome Nike Smoke earlier this year and had a great launch out at Swan Falls on a 29mm F15 Estes motor, so nice to see Estes cranking out more Pro Series. I've been upgrading ones like the Doorknob and Red Max with ply ttw fins and ply motor mount rings. BTW, from now on it's pronounced Mikey instead of Mike, got it.
Did you put standoffs for the rail buttons to account for that shoulder on the nose cone? I just put mine right on flush after dry fitting them, the nosecone seemed to clear the rail ok.
I used small weld nuts to back the rail buttons, then added a second washer from 3-piece rail buttons to put them up a bit higher. I may add a second one, but we'll see. Apogee sells rail buttons with the weld nuts as part of the kit, or you can put in a McMaster order!
Inside the tube. One behind the rear centering ring and one as far in as I could reach. I ended up not even being to reach it and Shane had to handle it for me. Haha
Great job!! And its Taylor's favorite rocket. I hope you paint that bird before you fly it. The yellow and red fins make it pop! 🚀🌳🪂 It's on my Christmas 🎄 wish list.

Looking forward to the launch video to come. I launched mine on a CTI H54 long burn to 2300' the other day, and it was a great flight.

I always wanted one and the Cosdmodrome Aerobee Hi when I was a teen rocket dreamer!
Looking forward to the flight!
Great kit

I added a second lower ring from three-piece railbuttons. Shane flies his without any standoffs but the paint on the nosecone has paid for it
@ 👍
How are you dealing with the rail button gap with the NC? Also do you glue in or screw your buttons down with internal nuts?
Good question

@@RocketVlogs Ok thanks, I have used nylon spacers in the past. Do you use nuts inside the tube or just glue them in the thin walled tube?

Thanks, another rocket I “need”. lol
NICE! Flew mine on an H268. Video on my UA-cam channel
My next kit...
Would have been nicer if you built it more in the camera’s frame. Lovely otherwise!

It's getting painted before flight for sure!
