I'm a grown ass man, bus driver to and in this instance l don't need a little teenage brat banging my glass door. She be thrown out of door, and doors will be locked shut so that l can continue my journey. Got many disciplinary action against me, nearly lost my job and been through court multiple times kicking smackheads off my bus for kicking off and banging my glass screen, kicking trying get in to my cabin but l don't give a shit because lm not there to be put at risk of harm by being abused or violated against some jumped up snorty little temper tantrum customers. I also use to work in security, use to kicking people off and soon l think bus driving companies should start training drivers to have SIA badges issued.
It is such an emergency that no one stops, including a bus, whilst a demented teenage girl, causes fear to the area. This is like those car alarms that everyone ignores.
No need for another bus driver to stop and put their safety in danger. Also the bus driver would have pressed the red button for emergency services. The buses have around 17 cameras so the lady will be found more than likely. Also if another driver did stop it causes further disruption to the service and other road users. Well done to the driver who stayed calm and did not aggravate the situation.
Two questions 1.did anyone dial 999 2.why didn't somebody just drag her off. I know the person who did the dragging would be in trouble. Good old UK policing and laws

I'm a bus Driver in glasgow I've been doing it for 3 years now and the one thing I have learnt is that the assault shield actually makes it worse for us as people get all mouthy and hard when they know a object is between them I had a passenger get on my bus threatening to stab me so I dropped my assault screen and told him that I ain't afraid to lose my job if he even tried to make a move I would drag him in my cab and stamp on him next time I seen him he was apologising and saying he didn't know why he did that etc everytime I drop my assault screen the back down worst thing invented in my eyes

I’ve got a disability based bus pass (I live outside of London) and bus drivers are allowed to confiscate a freedom/bus pass if it’s being used fraudulently, it’s then given back to the organisation that issued it with a statement of why it was confiscated in the first place. If I’m right then it explains why the teenager was trying to get into the cab and yelling at “give it back” like she was. The chances are that she’s taken the pass from a relative who has then applied for a replacement one, which cancelled the she was trying to use, when it didn’t work the driver probably asked to see the pass. Now whoever she stole the pass from is going to find out she stole it.

Because if you dragged them off it would be classed as assault, so no one will drag people off unless it is the police. Also the driver will have told their dispatcher/office. Im 90% sure the button also shows up on the dispatchers screen as being pressed, like a panic alarm for police officers. However it gets sent to their dispatch/control office and then they will contact the police as they will have all of the information needed for the police. Im pretty sure how that works but as im not a bus driver or someone in the control office i can not say for certain. But i know the drivers do have a 999 button in the cab that calls the emergency services. (Separate from the panic alarm)

The ticket machines do gennrealy have an SOS button which will call the control room but other than that its looking for the public attention. Im not 100% sure for london buses. In my area its like i explained. Alarm for attention. Sos for control room

Bus drivers are forbidden by their employers from stopping to aid each other in attack cases, unless instructed to by radio. They don’t know what the situation is, and they could be putting their own passengers in danger; also they could end up disrupting the service all along the route. One bus is already out of action (possibly long term if it’s been damaged), and passengers waiting elsewhere know nothing about the incident, but just that there journey’s been disrupted; they tend to get very unhappy about that!

Well, it's just happened again in the last few days. The girl was a similar age, about 250 pounds and was punching the driver. He hit her back, through her off the bus and she kept coming back at him throwing punches with her army of comrades. The video is on here now titled 'Bus driver attacks young girl'. This will definitely be labelled as a racist attack by the bus driver and he will definitely be fired and very likely be criminally charged.

John Mccaughey I haven't seen that video however one of our female bus drivers had been attacked by a group of men and left in a puddle of blood she was at the terminus and CCTV apparently didn't work to be honest all drivers should be taught self defense incase of situations like that of the Asian bus driver however that being said as a driver and speaking professionally here we have a duty of care to our passengers policy states we must stay in our cabs however also states we have a duty of care to our passengers size doesn't matter group's don't matter I've dealt with them all and one thing I can honestly say without question if that assault screen wasn't there this sort of thing would not happen as the person being the aggressor knows that's there I always drop my screen and when they realise its not there they just walk away when I point it out to them you don't need to a touch guy or women all you need to do is play physiological mind games make them believe your tougher than what you really are and don't back down they always back off first

They don’t have them everywhere in the UK. London buses have had them for decades - the rest of the country still hasn’t quite caught up.

I get the feeling that the teenage girl had taken someone else’s freedom pass or something similar. I’ve got a disability based bus pass (I live outside of London) and bus drivers are allowed to confiscate a freedom/bus pass if it’s being used fraudulently, it’s then given back to the organisation that issued it with a statement of why it was confiscated in the first place.
If I’m right then it explains why the teenager was trying to get into the cab and yelling at “give it back” like she was. The chances are that she’s taken the pass from a relative who has then applied for a replacement one, which cancelled the she was trying to use, when it didn’t work the driver probably asked to see the pass. Now whoever she stole the pass from is going to find out she stole it.
