Pete has been such a great addition to the Anderton’s team. Has drastically increased the quality of playing and he seems like a great guy to boot! Love how every solo doesn’t start with a bend at the 15th fret 👍

It's also refreshing how he's not Pointlessly Shredding with absolutely no Melody, and when Demonstrating a Bluesy, Jazzy or Classic Rock Guitar, he doesn't just do Noisey Metal Shredding trying to fit in as many notes as possible with no Musicality to it.
Pete is like Lemmo from Norm's Rare Guitars, his playing makes you inspired to want to play your Guitar and learn their arrangements.
Rob's playing is Absolutely Repellent and makes you hope you never sound like that kind of Guitar Player.

All of them have their own something. I liked the way how Chappers and Lee teased each other and I like Pete's accent and sense of humour. Of the two I like Pete's playing better, but I like Rabea the most. There were a few occasions when he jumped in for Chappers and he can play just so much better. A real session musician: you tell him to play jazz, he does it, you tell him to change to nu-metal, and boom, there he goes just to suddenly change to blues or something completely different. But honestly I like the whole crew and I'm enjoying any Anderton's show every now and then.

I’ve just started playing again a little over a month ago. Disabled now due to brain injury and can’t afford a super expensive guitar. Picked up a used Epiphone SG super cheap because it had a few dings in the finish. Gave it a proper setup and it’s one of the best playing guitars I’ve ever put my hands on and I didn’t have to spend a lot of money. I know it’s not as nice as a Gibson, but I sure do love playing it and isn’t that the point?
Anyways, great video, keep up the good work.

Playing again after a brain injury? Hats off to you as you are the type of person I admire. My first guitar was a $5.00 piece of junk which I bought with my paper round money. My second guitar was a decent Hummingbird copy which I still have to this day which I bought at Rose Music in Perth Western Australia in 1973 and I bonded with it for life. I am now 64 and help poor kids get and set up cheap guitars so that they play half decent. As I said, hats off to you for getting back into guitar playing as it will give you enjoyment and may possibly assist in healing your injury as the brain is stimulated when we read and play music. @@chrismac9640 thanks. It has, if nothing else, given me more of a feeling of peace. I definitely don’t play the same as I did before, but I’ve been learning to alter my playing style and make music and have fun.
Since making this comment a few months back, I’ve also built my own tele style guitar. It took much longer than it would have before the injury, but with patience (and a solderless wiring kit, can’t solder very well anymore) and care, I managed to do what I think was a good job. Was quite the sense of accomplishment.
Thank you for your kind words, and I love hearing stories of people helping to get children in to music! Bless you!

Garon Martin Not to speak ill of Chappers but it’s almost like he’s a bit of a one trick pony. Yes he can play a million notes a minute with 5 gain pedals stacked on top of each other. Great for some people. Not so great for others. And let’s be honest. With certain guitars, most people expect to hear a certain style of music. There just seems to be more variety when Pete is involved.

Frits van Zanten that’s a good outlook to have. I also think if anyone spends more than £1,000 on a electric guitar it has to be special and unique and incredible and made in Japan or USA or similar. It HAS to be worth the money. I recently on line bought a fender performer telecaster HUM for a sale price of £869 and immediately returned it . Although it was nice for sure it simply was not worth the money to me when compared to other guitars I have. (Including other fenders etc)

You can get used to any sound. A crate with a 90 dollar pedal with a cheap guitar will sound just fine if that’s all you play . Doesn’t mean it’s bad or good but it’s hard to tell a difference unless you’re doing back to back comparisons

I wanted to buy one of these Gibson SG Standard '61 Maestro Vibrola in Vintage Cherry for a while. I went down to my local Guitar center here in Las Vegas and they had one in stock. I held it, the neck is outstanding the fret work is wonderful, the wood grain and color were so beautiful. I tuned it up and played a few cords and check the tuning, for sure it was out of tune. I fooled around trying to keep it in tune for three hours and became totally discouraged because this guitar was beautiful. So I did the only reasonable thing, I said to the salesman I am going to flip this Guitar Center pick, "blank side it stays here written side I buy it". It landed on written side so home with me it went, and boy am I glad it did. The next day I set out to find out why it wouldn't stay in tune and I discovered why, (fixed it) and now it's hard to knock it out of tune. First the tuning keys were loose and the screws holding the tuners on were striped from the factory, so i fixed that. Second the angle on the Vibrola is wrong from the factory, you need to tweak the angle and shim the Vibrola slightly, the E-string should not be touching the trem bar while in the resting position. Now i polish the frets and did a complete set up. This guitar now when using the Vibrola as intended will stay in tune wonderfully. This guitar is a great guitar and if you take the time and put in the work to set it up properly, YOU WILL LOVE THIS GUITAR! I think that from the factory they just assemble the parts and are done, not realizing or having the time that it needs to make this fine guitar function together as a whole instrument. Glad I took the time and made the purchase. This is an amazing Gibson Guitar after the corrections are made. I Have no connection with Gibson and I am not a professional Luthier, so if i can fix it this guitar is fixable.
    Thank you

That's funny. I did essentially the same thing in the sense I live in Las Vegas and bought a Gibson '61 Maestro SG from Guitar Center. I didn't have near the the problems you seemed to have had. I was a bit worried because I had heard rumors that the vibrola term is not stable. I changed the strings (I play hybrid 9s), polished the frets, conditioned the fretboard and checked that the tuner nuts were properly tightened. At first I felt my fears may have been justified, but after playing the guitar for a bit, it seemed to "break in," the tuning stabilized and now it play like a champ. Mine was a 2021 straight out of the shipping box, so maybe Gibson QC tightened up a bit? But it is definitely an awesome guitar.

I totally agree with Pete on the 'slink' feel in some Gibsons. I have two Gibson sg's and my 2019 stnd feels the teeniest bit more slinky than my 2018 special, which actually feels pretty taught to some other Gibsons. I believe its mostly to do with how the bridge and stop bar are set up. That break angle over the bridge down to the stop bar is unique on most guitars and I find mine play best when I find the balance between the two adjustments.

Great video! I think the biggest takeaway here, especially for novices, is that no amount of money spent on a guitar can make you better. It takes practice, and specifically practice in the style that you want to sound better at. Now, that being said, are there tonal differences? For sure. The gibson in my opinion has fanstatic sustain and a fuller sound. Also, never forget that whatever you plug it into will effect sound too. Better amps, higher quality cables, pedals, etc, can all make a difference.

      @ithemba 4 роки тому +37

in case of gibson you most definetly do not get what you pay for. Considered their pricing, there are far far to many Gibsons out there with imperfections, sloppy craftsmenship and messed up electronics. I bought a 2018 SG special for 450 bucks last year, in practically brand new condition and this guitar is a good guitar for that price - but not for three times that, which is what Gibson was asking for that guitar in the first place. The electronics already start to fail on me (the switch seems to be the problem) and the fingerboard to neck transition is the worst of any of my guitars - while it is the most expensive among them.
Take any midpriced far eastern guitar, mod them to absolute bizarre insane levels including a professional set up and even a professional refinish, you still easy are 500 bucks under most of Gibsons pricing.

I owned different Ibanez, Hagstroms, Epiphones, all manufactured in different countries in the far east, I owned guitars manufactured in europe, I owned ones handmade by luthiers - there were great ones among them and ones less so. The original G400s did not have veneer, not sure when it was introduced but have a 2011version with it. i dont notice when I play it, but looking at it in a stand the veneer makes the guitar look cheap, or rather the absence of grain on the bevels makes it obvious the veneer is what it is. Better off without it IMO. But nice guitars otherwise. Also note the 61s have a different pickup (Probucker) to the standard and custom (alnico Classic Pros). Of course I want a batwing Standard in white with Probuckers :-). Maybe next year.
