Israeli court orders end to general strike with more protests planned | BBC News

- People in Israel have been ordered to head back to work, after its labour court ordered an end to the general strike at 14:30 local time (12:30 BST).
Israel's biggest trade union says hundreds of thousands of people joined its general strike, aimed at forcing the government to secure a hostage release deal with Hamas.
Roads were blocked, some hospitals reduced services, and banks were closed.
Now, workers have been ordered to go back to their jobs, says Arnon Bar-David, the head of Histadrut, the union which organised Monday's strikes.

"Order people back to work" if they can do that your not a worker but a slave.
Excellent point ☝️
Like the Jan 6 "tourists" treated as slaves without free will.
@@agnelomascarenhas8990 lol 😂 wtf has that got to do with anything. And yes laws apply to citizens and workers, braking them and facing justice makes you a crook not a slave.
Slaves don’t get paid, don’t get health benefits, don’t get retirement accounts and social security. If you have a job and you think can just not go to work when you’re supposed to be at work according to your work agreement, then you’re a freeloader!
How can you order angry Society back to work??
If a strike ends because the workers are simply told it's over, then that's not a strike. That's an unscheduled break.
As someone who once spent 15 months on strike, I can tell you that even the most defiant union doesn't ignore court orders. Our lawyers spent much more time telling us what we could and couldn't do than they did fighting the company.
Hmm ... if the courts get desperate enough to order a strike to cease then suggest Israeli government will end up fighting a "second" front against fellow Israelis.
Netanyahu be warned.
@@wildmouse5888a court can order them back, but they cant order them not to quit their jobs.
that is funny. Actually it was a cynical political move by the labor union which only hurt the Israeli economy. The people are very upset by the Histadrut (Labor union) and are demanding it be broken up.
What you’re highlighting there is the difference between a strike and a wildcat strike…. The latter puts the fear of god into government due to the lack of organisation and ability to negotiate with anyone.
Is this protest considered anti semetic like the ones in America?

I don't understand. Could BBC explain to me why Hamas would execute hostages that they were holding in order to exchange for the release of Palestinian hostages held in Israeli jails without charge? Why would anyone kill a hostage? In any situation?
This interview explains it. Basically Netanyahu signaled to Hamas that the hostages were of no value in negotiations so they decided to end their lives within hours. ua-cam.com/video/BcXaSWrOSaE/v-deo.htmlsi=e_o0LM2SfsoWsoXs
Exactly!
Love my comments being erased. IS Gov't made a policy decision that made them less valuable as bargaining chips so they were disposed of instead of released, unfortunately
It's a lie, the idf murdered them like they murdered the 3 hostages holding a white flag months ago, no que asked they just shot and killed them... BN doesn't want a cease fire, he knows he's finished it's just time and he's biding time to save himself a bit longer, he doesn't care about the hostages either.
hamas simply sent a message to netanyahu: "you don't care about your own ppl; then neither do we." Netanyahu held a vote in his cabinet to continue on with his war as opposed to focusing on getting the hostages released.
The courts should have ordered the government to negotiate the release of the hostages.

The Oslo Accords and the Arab-Israeli Peace Process
On September 13, 1993, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Negotiator Mahmoud Abbas signed a Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements, commonly referred to as the “Oslo Accord,” at the White House. Israel accepted the PLO as the representative of the Palestinians, and the PLO renounced terrorism and recognized Israel’s right to exist in peace. Both sides agreed that a Palestinian Authority (PA) would be established and assume governing responsibilities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip over a five-year period. Then, permanent status talks on the issues of borders, refugees, and Jerusalem would be held. While President Bill Clinton’s administration played a limited role in bringing the Oslo Accord into being, it would invest vast amounts of time and resources in order to help Israel and the Palestinians implement the agreement. His government knew that Hostages were being held in Gaza, but taking the land was more important to them than the lives of their own people. so they spent 11 months denying access to basic necessities (food, water and medical care) whilst simultaneously bombing to the point where they have razed it to the ground. Nowhere was safe- they hit hospitals, schools, mosques, Churches, Charity buildings and Headquarters.
What *exactly* did Israel expect? Did they think that the hostages would just "miraculously survive" that kind of onslaught for 11 months and come out unscathed? These are the same people who shot three escaped hostages, three of their own, after they clearly identified themselves and asked for help. They also shot their own people on October the 7th.
Normal, everyday Israelis need to understand that their leadership cares more about eradicating Palestine than it ever will about the lives of its own people, to the point where they are sacrificing them to reach their goals.
Everything you said is a lie.

Well written and u made good points 👍. I hope more people can see this. Especially the part where you said that netanyahu cares more about erasing Palestinians than ensuring safety for Israel and its citizens.
I hope Israelis can wake up to this the same way Palestinians will have to realize Hamas doesnt care for them either. Hamas is Iran after all. But same concept:
Both sides' people had been so far made to believe that their government cares for them and acts in their interest, when in fact the ones leading them all have their personal goals to achieve. Even at the cost of peace and humanity. Netanyahu and hamas both gotta go. Both are deplorables that need to be held accountable. Both have exploited the pain for their personal agenda and war.
Hope made sense and have a nice day:) ☮️🍉

While President Bill Clinton’s administration played a limited role in bringing the Oslo Accord into being, it would invest vast amounts of time and resources in order to help Israel and the Palestinians implement the agreement. By the time Clinton left office, however, the peace process had run aground, and a new round of Israeli-Palestinian violence had begun.
The assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, the fifth prime minister of Israel, took place on 4 November 1995 (12 Marcheshvan 5756 on the Hebrew calendar) at 21:30, at the end of a rally in support of the Oslo Accords at the Kings of Israel Square in Tel Aviv. The assailant was Yigal Amir, an Israeli law student and ultranationalist who radically opposed prime minister Yitzhak Rabin's peace initiative, particularly the signing of the Oslo Accords.
"Organizers have been ordered back to work" LOL imagine thinking you have the power to force people to work

By the time Clinton left office, however, the peace process had run aground, and a new round of Israeli-Palestinian violence had begun.
A little to late.. don't you think!!
The court has made its order. Now let it enforce it.
How can you order an end to a strike 😂
I blame American for the war
PAY ATTENTION BIBI IS A CROOK TRYING TO DESTROY OTHERS TO STEAL THEIR LAND,

🤣you're just angry your apex technology is a pointy stick.
Which one? Idiot.
Channel 12 Hebrew:
27 prisoners were killed in captivity in the Gaza Strip.
The prisoners were killed by the Zionist bombing, and if President Biden is concerned about their lives, he should stop supporting the enemy.
- We were more concerned about the lives of the prisoners than Biden, so we agreed to his proposal and the Security Council resolution, while Netanyahu rejected them….
Since when can a court put a stop to a strike? 😂 Just ignore em and keep protesting
There are laws that protect stroking workers. A court ordering the end of the strike is threatening to remove that protection.
No one with common sense wants to live under this distress. The government is reckless.
Netanyou needs to get his son onto the front line instead of hiding in Florida luxury penthouse along with two full time bodyguards at taxpayers expense.
Thanks for the info..Free PAlestine..Stop the Genocide.
@@theresanolan1157 He left on Oct 10th to avoid conscription..His other son is with the IDF,but on strict orders he cannot be involved in any front line fighting.
Can people be ordered to end a strike? Yikes😳
What kind of strike can be told to just stop? Especially when it’s about war?..
OT!!!
Benny Hill considered funnier than Monty Python by two TV stations --WOR and WLVI!
When people strike, no one orders them.
I have heard someone called Netanyahu as Satanhayu. The Satan must have got offended....
FREE BACON ?
BBC News, nice video you deserve more subscribers
Netanyahu was using this war for his own interests, it’s never about hostages. It’s about more settlements and his stay in power. If it was about Israel hostages, then he wouldn’t be bombing tunnels where hostages are, he would go for a deal, that he has often abandoned at last minute when Hamas has agreed. 1200 are killed and you kill 42000, that’s insane. You go for a full blown war when you know 200 of your people are still hostages or without thinking what Hamas would do to your people held as hostages? To me seems like Oct 7th was a bait for Israel to hook Hamas.
You izrael people have to support country PM..He is taking decisions for your own sake..if he stop you sll become slaves of Hamas Hezubulla snd Iran.
Is everyone striking also Hamas?
freedom to protest is the hallmark of a democracy, said Blinken.........!!!!!!!!
The Israeli protesters are addressing their government and they have the right to free speech to do so as Israeli citizens. In Gaza, Palestinians do not have that freedom and risk their lives protesting against Hamas, who have routinely executed protesters as dissenters or colluding with Israel.
So what happens if the court order is ignored? Mass arrests? Mass executions?
Go find the hostages yourself
This is what the “only democracy in the Middle East it looks like” what a joke!
This generation is lost.
Not the answer that she wanted to hear.... It seems this anchor is being pounded by both of her guests
