I would love to see a team reunion on this show and hear stories from their time in Morgantown. Anyone who lives, lived or visited has stories that would blow your minds. Just imagine the stories the football team has. WVU Football players are celebrities in WV
My uncle was his backup kicker at WV
I was at WVU from '03-07, and it was truly incredible. I've never seen a sports team perform the way that team did. The stands were insane every single home game. I remember noticing that every single time White or Slaton was carrying the ball, if the defense had to swivel their hips to chase, it was done. No one was catching those guys. I can still hear the stadium PA playing Spongebob's voice saying, "Good one, Patrick," whenever McAfee made a kick, haha. Man, football wise, glory fuckin' days.
I know it's a year later, but thanks for the reminiscing, Pat. :-)
You should do more WV stories
Ma V Wow sounds like my college days at Michigan State 😂
He’s a legend
Yes!!
I got some good one I wasn’t a player but I have friends that know players well my friend lived in Motown and he lived in a duplex and he was a pot dealer and he had lots of mountaineers come and chill with him and his friends and one not going to say who decided to come back the next day and held my friend at gun point and took all his weed!
@@lewsky81 legendary choker more like 2007 backyard brawl was devestating.
At the end of 08 bowl vs UNC (Meineke Car Care) which was an insane game, I seriously cried. I might have been a little sauced up but seriously it was like closing one of the most formative chapters of my life and just being there to witness this team during those years (05-08) was an honor. I know you won’t see this Pat but thank you to you and all the boys. SouthPark parties were legendary!!
My 2 sons and 2 of my nephews attended WVU during the time you and the other great players were there. My husband and I were lucky enough to have seasons tickets for most of that time and enjoyed it so much. We sat through the "White Out" and froze but wouldn't have missed it for the world. I love to hear about all the good times the team had together. Thanks for sharing.
I do believe that the punter in Blue Mountain state is a character based on you.
Lmfao
😂😂😂
Antoine B jo
Harmon was the kicker
Bailey (or whoever else reads this), we NEED to get Pat White on the show on Monday... ASAP
Words cant even describe how it was to be a kid growing up in wv at that time. Those guys were literally our idols and nothing brought me and my pops together like watching those guys play.
Remember my dad saying "That McAfee guy is a goon but he can kick the shit out of a ball."
Water is wet
this was one of the best segments from the show so far
Man, as a WVU fan this gives me so much pride. I could listen to this all day.
I was a freshman at WVU in 2007...what a time to be alive...until that game at home vs. Pitt 🤦🏻♂️
Yep. I was at that game, cold, very cold and heart breaking!
That’s what happens when you party instead of Keeping your head out of your ass
@@Professional_street_hustler lol fam grow up
i was like 11 and i cried lmao in the stands
You can hear the love in Pat's voice. You can see the love in his face. This was an excellent segment. I definitely remember that Sugar Bowl. It was epic. The White Out was an awesome game too. The weather was horrible. My brother had gotten tickets to it and spun out and went down over a hill on the way to the game. He got himself out and made his way onto the game.
So many memories of that team. I'm an Eer fan for life.
As a WV resident and fan the Pat white Steve Slaton etc were the best days of my life as a mountaineer fan I can't say the same about today's team
KODI as an LSU fan, it was fun watching Geno, Tavon & Stedman
@@Sticktothemodels yeah those were fun times but the atmosphere Pat white and the crew brought to Morgantown was incredible I was actually at the LSU vs WVU game in Morgantown when the teams were both in the top 5 it was the craziest atmosphere I've ever been in that's when the honey badger was wrecking games but I think Geno had like 5 or 6 tds and It came down to who had the ball last and of course LSU ended up with the ball in the final minutes that was the greatest game I've seen in person other than the Pat White debut against Louisville it was a triple OT thriller that I actually left because I thought it was over 😂
KODI sounds like quite the experience! Thanks for sharing 🤙🏾
@@Sticktothemodels yeah man no prob also know your damn tigers brought us WVU fans alot of drunken miserable nights lol
Agreed from Fairmont
Pat White/Steve Slaton yrs were some of the best years of all college football!! Waiting for another combination like that again...
Don't think there has ever been a QB/RB duo more dynamic in all of college football.
@@alex__zander facts
Noel Devine, Darius Reynaud.
Student at WVU in the 70s, staff at WVU in the 80s, love me some Dub Vee football.
it was so damn much fun watchin Pat, Steve, Owen etc during that time.
Lets GOooooo Mountaineers !
Saw every home game that Pat, et. al. played. Without a doubt, Pat's number should be retired and he should be crowned the King of WV! Not only is he so deserving for his on field accolades but he carried himself off the field in the community with such modest sincere character. When my wife, a middle school teacher, reached out to him to come to her school and inspire the kids, he said absolutely and even brought the infamous Steve Slaton with him. If I could post a picture on here of that day, I would. Mr. McAfee, your all's run was the best thing to ever happen to Mountaineer Sports Nation! I / We loved all of you and my son is growing up watching footage of the glory days.
I am a WVU grad, I watched every game McAfee played! In the stands for every home game, a couple of away games and all away TV games. He was one of the best to wear the Old Gold and Blue!
Tavon austin is one of my favorite players in wvu history. But y'alls teams is my favorite team. All the different personalities and styles yall brought always made interviews and games great to watch! Also met pat white when he worked at the gym I go to one of the nicest guys ever.
WVU was unstoppable on NCAA with White and Slaton, and McAfee making all the kicks!
man i grew up watching you guys play ( i live outside of morgantown) and you guys are legends here still!
Pat’s one of my Favorite WVU Players!
Pat, you are seriously the man. I've been a Mountaineer fan since about 93, I'm currently 33. You are absolutely one of my all time faves. Even more so over the past couple years of listening to the podcast. I hate how the lowlife/degenerate fans did u after the Pitt game. You're human, doing one of the more difficult things in football. Brother, I speak for all of the true Mountaineer fans when I say, you are always welcomes back here and I can't imagine the welcoming you would receive. Cheers
Love the stories and you have my respect as a wvu graduate and the father of two that are graduating this December. We live 5 hours away and make a couple games a year . I am also enjoying your show keep up the good work.
I love when you talk about what use to happen in the locker room and funny stories it’s making me hyped for college
I was coached my Phil Brady, cool that he gave him a shout out.
thanks for the great memories
long time WVU fan and thst was one hell of a team.
Gotta get Pat White on the show!!! What is he doing now?
I think he's a coach at Alcorn State
Squatz1 quick update, he’s now the Running Backs coach at USF
He has his own podcast to
You are one of the funniest people of all time. Glad you are part of my football tradition.
pat you are a true mountaineer love you bro
Pat is a WVU legend
Love Pat White!!!
Awesome segment!
Mr. Mcafee, I’ve been following you for a while. Your stand up is hilarious because it tells a story I could relate to if I was athletic and had talent. If you’re ever in Nor Cal, I’d be honored to buy you a beer.
Retire 5...I'd Love to hear a Pat Mcafee/Owen Schmidt story, My favorite, two "Eers ...Lifelong Mountaineer
Pat, I was there at the white out!!! My son and I froze my asses off. I have been a mountaineer all my life. I graduated from that party school and have been to many games but that white out was the most memorable to me.
Pat got around in WVU he’s a great time
I live in Charleston WV. I love mountaineer football. A lot of great football players. Best fans in the world.
I was at the white out game
Wore an all white suit, nice to see Pat and Steve off right!
I didn’t realize you were on the team that went to the sugar bowl. The punter in that game Pat Brady was my freshmen year algebra teacher. He signed a WVU helmet for me. Great guy.
This might be the single best video on the internet! :-)
I swear Blue Mountain State was based on West Virginia
Same. Shaved an Owen Schmitt Mohawk for that game.
blue mountain are a term for the appalachian mountains so its mostly on penn states blind eye but i like to think wvu rowdiness rings true as well
Pat White is my all time favorite Mountaineer. Major Harris was before my time. I know we lost and didnt make it to the National Championship that year but I believe we could compete with any team that year.
Every team except USF and Pittsburgh...
I saw you on the tv and it was funny wit da shorts
Good lord I loved this being a Mountaineer fan
I loved your guys D-line. You had one feller named Dingle, and another named Berry. It tickled me pink when they'd sit, stand, or line up next to each other. Good players, all-time great sports name pun image.
Couldn’t Love my Moutaineer’s any more than I do, was so very proud of the Baylor game, didn’t win, but showed heart and gave me hope for good things to come!!! People say to me I’m a Alabama fan, I always ask, how hard it that? They look at you a lil confused.
hey pat my favorite PAT WHITE play ever is the block he had against uconn "the hit" you should talk about that and also when Owen busted his head open with his own helmet.
I was at that senior night game vs USF freezing my balls off but it was incredible. They put on an absolute show.
Noel Devine is still playing. He played for the WV Roughriders Indoor Football team last year.
I love hearing him talk wvu. A lot of pride. Have to say. I live in Huntington 🤣
I still can’t believe that the best punter ever didn’t even know how to punt when he got drafted
We love you Pat here in Morgantown......the only thing is I wish you would of played for my Steelers........you are the only kicker that wasn't afraid to lay someone out
Mario's Fishbowl....I miss that dirt bar. I could see Pat vomiting around back.
Or passed out in some strangers car lol
Fishbowl is such a great place.
Mario must have been gone by then? He was pretty strict on us drinking there
I want Pat to talk about the Pitt 2007 game
I used to love playing NCAA with Pat White and Steve Slaton.
Was epic too watch
I watched every post game interview with Pat White. I never heard him say “I”. It was always we. He was the star but never took credit. Probably one reason he earned the respect in the locker room and from the fans.
Austin was in Norman.. I remember Oklahoma announced he signed I watched his highlights the same
Night:
5:40 Pat was exactly right, over two years later the world has changed a ton for obvious reasons but we’ll get back to them soon. We should enjoy the present moment more
Full circle Pat
Jeff Noechel got a shout out! Hell yea! I also got my only tattoo because of that game. It's the WV logo.
You should have Pat White on the show sometime. At least a call in!
Not your fault Pat! Love you man, one of the best guys to ever wear the WVU jersey!
You should look up the monon bell game Pat, I think you would really enjoy it! It’s a hard rivalry between two indiana teams AND it’s the only game in their league to be televised (it’s also a huge party at all times)
good one patrick
I was at that white out game I'll never forget it.
Pat White "meowing" when we played the Pitt Panthers lmfao that shht was funny af! They caught him doing this coming back from a commercial if I remember correctly.. But it was "Epic Trolling" and F'n hilarious!
Pitt had the last laugh , 13-9...
@@patrickolaughlin6027 Yep because rich Rodriguez lost the game on purpose knowing he was going to take the Michigan job.
That fake punt in the Sugar Bowl is one of my favorite plays in WVU history
Pat on WWE Commentary 🔥 🔥🙌
LETS GO!!!
MOUNTAINEERS
I love the fact that the C-gap thing is a channel meme
Doubt he’ll ever read this but that December night almost 12 years ago and the days that followed were some of the most embarrassing times for me as a fan. You didn’t deserve the hate you got. I would have told the WVU fanbase to get fucked if I were in your shoes. I’m happy for you that you had a great career in the NFL and found even further success in media (you actually gave me a reason to watch Smackdown last night).
Hopefully, time can heal old wounds and you will come back to Morgantown for a visit sometime.
If you do, at least one fan will be cheering you on from the crowd.
Pat should be doing the analysis and commentary for Mountaineer games.
Pat on Smackdown!!!
WVU was Oregon before Chip Kelly Oregon, a ton of undersized speedy skilled position players on offense,
spread run first team, man I miss that WVU team and yes they were so fun to use on NCAA Football 07,
can't forget Owen Schmitt as the lead blocker in the 2 Back Slot Formation.
Never forget you got mat that job in Carolina
4:23 Crazy that Pat got the score exactly right 13 years later and clearly under the influence of many vitamins
That team went 32-5...great time at WVU.
As a life long mountaineer fan, there was nothing quite like that team Pat was on. That team was full of DAWGS
To put a fine point on Pat White's bowl wins. . . those 4 bowl games were not in minor bowls; three of those bowl games were on or after Jan. 1, and included wins over Georgia and Oklahoma.
Pat should show off his WVU bowl rings one of thease days
Phil Talks Sports haha that stings
Law school hill baby!
HOW CAN I GET THIS VIDEO DOWNLOADED INTO MY BLOOD
Wait the punter from blue mountain state is the craziest one in the show that enjoys drugs the most. Yup Pat you deserve some money for them using your life in that show.
GREAT stuff... I agree WVU needs to update the guidelines. It would be great to see at every home game next season to see them retire a number... Major Harris, Pat White, Steve Slaton, Owen Schmidt, Jeff Hostetler... there has to be some defensive guys that are worthy as well.
Gary Stills
@Blue2 Sierra Why not Major Harris ? He took WVU to a National Title game.
More WV more mountaineer content plz!!!
Take me home, country roads, to the place I want to go
Grew up in Morgantown until I got kicked out of wvu. Witnessed greatness during pats 4 years, I’m so glad Adam Got hurt that year. Steve was magic in Atalanta for the sugar bowl. My favorite homeless mans sign was during nye “I’m not going to lie, it’s for booze “
Phill Brady was my math teacher🤣🤣
Returning home definitely felt better than when Polumalu lined up in the c gap
Neal Brown is gonna turn it around, Kentucky boy
Pat, Steve, Darius and Owen, I call them the Fab Four..
As a gator fan, I love the shot he took at the georgia fans for barking at them.
Go Steelers.. your boy Vinny got scared when he saw those laces Hahahaha!!!
Im a lifelong diehard college football fan. I can only name 3 players from West Virginia. Slayton, white and Mcafee and he ain't lying they were dominant on NCAA on Playstation!!!
I remember that game it was the same year Texas beat USC
Take me home country roads,
I’m a Moutaineer and Kendall is not the answer
