  • LA3EQ Moonbounce with only 12Watts on 1296MHz. The antenna is a 2.3M dish w/septum feed. Spid Ras rotator with 0.2deg sensors.

    Impressive how well that setup works. I had audible CW echos on 2m EME from Jan Mayen using just 40W with 4 yagis. Groundgain was very good there as I was facing the ocean just a few meters away.
    These "new" digital modes are crazy sensitive and sure make it easier than in the old times. I have worked several single yagi to single yagi QSOs on 6m, and some even with very good dB margins.

    Could it be the ionasphere or the van Allen belts that reflect the signal?

      No, the signal is being measured in time also, so it is differentiated from any other reflections that may occur. de NV6R

      @@lustrup uh... that is really cool !! I guess it won't be possible with my M² 23CM35 that has 18.79dBd then... your video had sparked a sudden interest for me to try EME, the only mode I wish I was able to make contact, but I suspect I don't have quite the right equipement... that was fun to watch !
